A complete summary of the first three chapters of this story as well as short character summaries can be found here.

Short summary of the previous entries:

The last two entries focused on important events in Nora's past when she got to know the vampire Baron Eric Beauvais.

To stop her from roaming and murdering mortals in his realm he asks her to come to his place where he is looking to temper the young vampire and her thirst for blood.
But Eric and his mortal wife quickly realize that this won't be an easy task.

Nice work, very nice indeed.

And I think I understand what Nora did

Wow, that's a twist

likewise, I did not think Nora had such an influence on Eric, but this is understandable. And the even more interesting like that .

Charlotta is cute ^_^

I look forward to the continuation.

Thanks a lot. Maybe I did a bad job showing this, but with every drip of blood vampires in my world drink the inner beast grows stronger so the barrier to kill someone gets lower and lower. This was one of the things Nora took advantage of, besides others. He would have never killed the human while being "sober".

This is the end of the flashback scenes as indicated in the very end.

Absolutely grim.
Less and less love for either of these characters, and a part of me is glad this flashback arc is over. Feeling very strong emotions from this Section!

Just end Baron Eric's life - don't wanna see this loser's face any longer!

I agree with the powerful storytelling. The way Nora did manipulate the servant and Eric was absolutely twisted, yet still very feminine. Events and twist are very appreciable since that new chapter, I found the narration has improved. Colors and lightning also are top class, even if I think the ENB's added contrast is a bit too much as it creates some moire/aliasing effect on some angles/skins (notably Nora's higher cheek/orbits), but it's a detail. Can't wait for the next section ! :classic_biggrin:

Malicia : « Drinking everyone dry, making people kill other people... Nora's very meany ! I hope she's gonna grow fat from drinking too much blood, yes ! :classic_sleep: »

I like Nora for she is perverted and kinky. But I don't like her mean side and for she's playing mean games.

Excellent entry.

Thanks for the comment, you're not necessarily supposed to feel love for my undead monsters ;) .

I'm not really sure how to understand the last sentence, why is Eric a loser?

Thank you very much Tirloque, there wasn't much of a narration in chapter 4 ;).

I'm not sure about the contrast, I think this is due to the imagespace I used for the altar scene, which is an ingame way to modify the image. I think I based this one on the Castle Volhakir one, but you're right, some of her textures look quite bad in some of the images. Especially the normalmap. After this one I used a higher resolution version.

To Malica: Unfortunately she is forever stuck in the perfect body she had when she was in her early twenties... too bad ;)

Thanks Eva, you only get her seductive side together with her mean side. ;)

A supposed experienced centuries old vampire got played by an vampire fledgling, not really paint a strong picture of him.

I don't think he is a loser, but after this he's imagine is a bit low compared your other vampires.

But well its his fault partly, his granny wife not helped him against the seduction of Nora.

As long as she well feed, sure, but if she bloodstarved I wonder how perfect she would look ;)

Just a choice word! Mostly from my discontent at how he, a vampire of grand standing and stature, had simply let a black-hearted seductress into his heart and home - leading to his abandoning of principles, marital unfaithfulness, and chaos in his household. Oh, and the murder of poor Cean! Basically him letting a "forty year old neonate" take the reins over his life despite the stoic first impression he'd made.

Sorry for sounding a bit whiny! Just a sucker for good-over-evil turnabouts - and oh dear was Nora very evil indeed! But of course not every story turns out that way... and lots more remain to be seen from the tale. A compliment to how emotion stirring your story can be, if you will.

Doubly excited for the next Chapter/Section!

The thing is in Alter Native's world drinking blood exacerbates sexual instincts to the point vampires having just sucked blood get almost frenzied. I agree on the fact that Eric fell in a rather disappointing way considering the stoicism he showed, but Nora played on his hidden weaknesses (sex and blood deprivation being some of those) and on his nature very skillfully. :classic_angel:

I'm intrigued about his future though. Despite having fallen somehow, he still shows more good intentions than the usual, and has sentimental links towards Nora. Malicia isn't the only one interested in what he'll become in the next section. :classic_wink:

Sorry for sounding a bit whiny! Just a sucker for good-over-evil turnabouts - and oh dear was Nora very evil indeed! But of course not every story turns out that way... and lots more remain to be seen from the tale. A compliment to how emotion stirring your story can be, if you will.

Doubly excited for the next Chapter/Section!

Thanks, I understand what you mean now. For me Eric is my favorite character of my story, because in the end he's a tragic figure that tries to do good (his story is not yet done, just the flashback).

The thing is that as an author you'll never read your own story the same way as other people do. Not just because you are looking at your own work, but also because you always have larger concepts of your characters, events, locations etc. in mind, that the reader doesn't have. This leads to you having a different perception of your story.

The good authors are able to transport their idea to the reader and the story is perfectly understandable and everything seems reasonable. When the author fails at that some events or actions may seem unreasonable or illogical.

That's why I was asking, because it conflicts with my own perception of this character. As you've probably noticed I prefer the bad endings as they are a lot more memorable and more engaging (for me at least). ;)

It's not just Eric who changes. In their relationship Nora is also strongly effected by Eric as she lets go some of her impulsiveness and brazenness. She starts to follow Erics code of conduct, learns proper manners etc. This episode is also the first one where she drinks blood again after coming to Erics place so she was following his will here as well.

Of course she knows when her moment has come to take a chance and make Eric loose his way... otherwise these entries would be boring ;).

In the end she becomes a bit more like Eric and Eric a bit more like her.

Oh man! This is one of my favorites; much darker than normal. I'm beginning to question how much I like Nora though, admittedly. As a character, she has developed wonderfully. Each chapter gives us a bigger view into who she really is, which, at least to me, is a selfish and cruel person. Obviously that is what you are going for, but with each outcome I find myself liking her less and less. By that I mean as a person, not as a character in her story. Does that make sense? Either way, this really was a terrific chapter!

Thanks I know what you mean and it's perfectly reasonable that people feel this way. I recently read an article about antiheroes or "objectify bad" protagonists and how to have the reader still like them.

One way to do this is by comparing them to an antagonist that's even worse so they appear much better, e.g. a very cruel version of Harkon to whom Nora is still likable. In the last sections I did the opposite and compared her to a really good vampire version.

But as you already said, it's not my goal to have her be the shiny hero of my story and this was all intentional. On the other hand we'll see some "good" actions of her in the future that are still in line with her selfishness and her nature.

That's good to hear! As I said, I do still appreciate her as a character. And looking back, in earlier chapters you did showcase her in a way to "humanize" her and give the reader sympathy. Therefore, it makes sense that she should develop in this way. Had you done the opposite, the story would be completely different and we wouldn't see Nora the same way.

Thanks, but your giving me way too much credit. Things are far less planned than on your blog and I mostly follow interesting ideas instead of having everything mapped out. I think the main difference between now an earlier episodes is that previously she was much more mostly pushed by others and external forces and was reacting accordingly and now she is following her own agenda.
