Short Summary of the previous entries

At the beginning of the chapter we were following Nora's story in a vampire monastery in Morrowind.

She got caught up in a local political intrigue, killed one of the masters and fled together with her boyfriend Ahtar to Hammerfell, unsure whether her life was in danger or not.

While hiding in a lair of Ahtar's bloodline she received a letter from the vampire Duchess of Hammerfell, asking her to travel to Al-Mahan, a vampire city located at a well hidden oasis within the deserts of Hammerfell.

Thanks for reading everybody!
This was the first entry of an upcoming longer Hammerfell series that continues the Morrowind storyline.
Quite often I talk myself down in these post story discussions, but I got to admit I'm really proud of this entry and especially it's atmosphere turned out and there's more to come until the end of Chapter 8 and I can't decide which of these entries I like best.

The native "Hammerfell language" spoke in this entry is actually real world arabic, at least a butchered version of it by google translate and missing characters of the font I was using.
Coming up with a believable fantasy language is actually way harder then people may assume. The vast majority of you probably doesn't understand arabic and it has the same flavor that is carried by the visuals, so it felt like a good enough fit. But people actually do say something useful in the dialogues that Nora (and most of us) don't understand.

It was also the first time I did a fair amount of work on an outfit, beyond stitching something together in Nifskope and/or outfit studio. I had a specific look for her in mind, that would feel vampiric, but desert like, somewhat sexy, without becoming skimpy or ridiculous. It also had to match her typically black red color pallete ;).
(White'S actually decent as well, but I typically only use it when I want to show blood on her clothes^^ like in the previous story entry.)

Anyway, thanks for reading.

This blog also recently made it to 200 followers, so thanks for everybody's support, likes and comments over the last three years.

Great chapter, Alter!
I think the vampire is damn hard to survive in the desert, a long day, few shelters, less food.
Great battle scene, of course. And damn, amazing dynamic fights. Which are beautifully decorated with your new layout. ^_^
And damn atmospheric vampire bazar! Love it ^_^

Yeah, I agree, deserts are actually quite difficult, mostly because there are/ there might be very few shelters for the night. Food is probably less of an issue (at least in my world) as they can survive weeks without food.

On the other hand, that's what makes it so appealing in having a hidden vampire desert city/trading center in the middle of the desert, well protected by natural barriers like a desert or desert sand storms.

The idea was that the city is of course ruled by vampires (compared to "normal" cities). However there are still free humans living in that city. I believe you would still need those to run such a place. However they would all in one way or the other depend/cooperate with the vampires.

Another wonderful entry.
That city is amazing. You make wonderful locations. Any plans for a mod that adds another one of the locations from your story?

The city is from the mod "World of Rudra" and not created by myself. However it looks very different in that mod and I added a lot of stuff to the bazaar, especially all NPCs.

To answer your question, yes there will be a new update within the next 2-3 month adding several locations I was building for chapter 11 (unreleased so far), with the highlight being an Italian Renaissance villa.

Thanks!

I know it looks somewhat similar to wonder women, but I was mostly inspired by some of the Conan Exiles armors.

And yes, she needs to be careful in that city, and I'm sure she will be ?.

This keeps going better and better : first the Morrowind temple, now an Alik'r city ! Considering how you like adjusting the lighting and background it must've been a blast tuning the World of Rudra to suit your ideas. The overall ambiance, with the backgrounds, but also the outfits, languages and that whole new lore you're creating also add a lot to the immersion, despite it being 50% silent. The fight with the hounds was nicely done (impressive sun lighting) and dramatized, even though without onomatopoeia it takes two or three times for the reader to understand the flames arise when the creatures are killed. The man impaled above her in order to feed her was also an excellently gruesome detail.

I do wonder though if everything was done at the same time, because the desert parts were done with a rather efficient comic layout, while the city parts aren't. Several storytellers are maturing from that point of view.

Loved the atmosphere of both regardless, specially of the bazar, with the slaves and tortured individuals being mixed along with merchandises sales as if it wasn't anything out of the ordinary (and same for the vampires integration btw). You managed to convey a lot of things with only stares exchanged in that part. Overall, excellent work !:thumbsup:

Malicia : « I think I already said that, but Nora's nickname makes her look prettier, stronger and more intelligent, yes. :classic_sleepy:

She's very brave to have fought the dogs too. But the men with the bag outfits didn't really help her, so she should stay very cautious and very defiant. :classic_excl: »

Thank you very much for this long comment Tirloque!

Much appreciate all the praise and there will be more Hammerfell for the Rest of the chapter. So far we've just heard of the Sehats, owning half the city. Maybe we'll see them as well ;) .

As discussed frequently, I'm not going to add any kind of onomatopoeia to my story for aesthetic reasons, even though I acknowledge that it helps with understand.

Same goes for comic effects (I should maybe do a little bit...)

The rest of the "comic" layout is just a way for me to get vertical shots in my story. Besides that, I sometimes need to show a couple of things in separate screenshots that are all not worth a full screenshot so these smaller shots go well with the vertical ones and get half a page or so...

But the whole things was editied at the same time, there's just less need for the comic style in the second half :) .

@Malicia She was actually very nice and not meany at all by trying to help the men in the bag outfits by defending them (and herself) against the dogs.

Jordis? Why ;(

Yeah, somebody had to be the victim...

But in Chapter 4 Section 8 we already saw her as a vampire noble on the party... I guess it's karma now that she a vampire thrall now.... ;)

I just need to take good looking random NPCs, as it's just to much work to create all NPCs from scratch, especially if you want good looking ones.

I'm blind or she's well hidden. ^^

It would be a good idea to adapt it as a mod, even as a test.

I'm not 100 % sure if this is Jordis, but I think so, definitely one of the Bijin NPCs... might also be an old version of Bijin, I took that screenshot mid 2016.

What do you mean with a mod?

There's my Karlov Manor mod, if that's what you are interested in.

Hmm quite similar, as to the idea I meant to be fully playable "Sex scenes, conversations, and play as Nora"
Karlov Manor looks pretty.

Thanks.

What you are suggesting sounds really complicated to do as a regular Skyrim mod and sounds more like a visual novel. Where you would play Nora. A regular quest mod would of course be doable but is just a lot of work I wouldn't be willing to put into such a project.

Alter, help! I cannot comment! I'm just staring at your beautiful screenshots! ?

Okay, maybe I can comment a little bit. ? This entry is absolutely gorgeous! You were always excellent with your screenshots, but this is a whole new level of mastery!

The scenery, the effects, the setting (and even the armor) all give of a bit of Assassin's Creed feel - mystery mixed with action, adventure and a touch of gruesomeness. The fact that you were able to tell half of the story with just screens is very impressive. The bazaar deserves a special mention because it truly feels that those screenshots belong on the movie set.

You also did a nice job with adjusting Arabic to suit your needs and it fits Hammerfell well. The conversation with the merchant was rather enjoyable (though I didn't quite catch the exact mix of the blood that he was selling. Dwarven with something else that is sure to please the senses? ?)

Really looking forward to finding out what the Sehats want with Nora. And thank you for sharing such incredible work with us! ?

(I'm going to go back to staring at the pretty pictures now :classic_ph34r:)

Thanks again, I really happy with how things turned out for this entry.

?You actually speak/ understand Arabic? The Arabic texts were written rally sloppy and butchered afterwards by google translate, so don't expect too much.

I also had to replace all the special signs of the latin alphabet version of arabic that google was giving me, cause the font I was using for my stories didn't support them.

There'll be much more Hammerfell content coming soon.
