Mod Salad Concept and Other Musings

Hey, this is just me thinking about things. In my last video I randomly gave a name to the concepts behind my views on mods. The reason why I load a bunch of quest and building mods and Don't immediately do them:

Mod Salad -

It's when you start playing Skyrim and you find a bunch of mods have melded together to interact in ways you didn't expect.

Examples:

1. I just did Moss Mother Cavern (Vanilla) quest, but found a Relics of Hyrule chest led by a fairy on the way in, was attacked by a Lechen from Mihail's Mods while I was inside.  I fulfilled the quest objective, but I also found the trapdoor for a hidden Inn added by Kagrenfalz and talked to the quest guy there.  I also harvested the meat from the bear inside (Hunterborn).  On my way to Moss Mother, I traveled to the Inn of Lost Souls (Brotherhood of Old) and Northkeep (a small city added by TES Arena Towns) and passed by Little Vivec (lake town added by Moon and Star).  On my way back to the College on the Airship (Dev Aveza/Moonpath to Elswyer) I passed through the Mead and Magic Inn (Inns and Taverns).

2. A while back I was trying to buy a mine for Real Estate and stumbled onto Echo Deep Mine (Falskaar), got attacked by a party of bandits way too powerful for me (OBIS) and a minotaur (Mihail's Mods) and got 'taken advantage of' (Defeat).

3. When I was doing Second Great War and Blood of the Nord in tandem, I ventured north to docks by Dawnstar, and found a new town, Innsmouth (Things in the Dark).  When I returned from my Sea mission, I found a camp of Frost Giants (I have no idea?) and I already know further to the west there's Seapoint (Seapoint) and the gates added by Haafstad, right next to each other like they were designed that way.

4. When it pours outside, the Solitude Inn has about 200 people inside from five different mods.  (Interesting NPCs, Random NPCs, Teen Dolls, Kahgrenfalz, Breakable Equipment... yeah okay there's more but I don't even remember all the mods I have installed).

Tangential term I was thinking of:

Modwich -

When you intentionally load two or more mods with the intention of playing them to see how they interact.

Examples:

1. Way back when I did the Dark Brotherhood questline with Runa I was playing Better Dark Brotherhood and Brotherhood of Old together. Because they both built on the same foundation, the original DB questline, they worked together pretty well.

2. Blood of the Nord and Second Great War together.  BoTN is a good precursor to SGW.  It has the mindset of 'trying to prevent the war,' but inevitably the group failed in all their diplomatic efforts.

Mod Salads are more of a happy accident, modwiches are intentional.  I often do this by design in my blog entries.  I'm thinking of doing videos in the future that is like, 'Modplay but I smashed two mods together.'  And also, possibly a list video of 'Most Appetizing Modwiches.'  That was just off the top of my head.  I can probably come up with a better name.

Here're some I'm thinking of that might work:

Vigilant + Agent of Righteous Might

Shezzarine Chapter 1 + Isle of Artaeum

Alpha + Amorous Adventures (Not on YT, mind you)

Kagrenfalz + Scholarship of Skyrim (New release, going to add it on probably Part 3 since I've already played a significant amount of the mod)

Other news

In other news, I've been doing the YT videos first because it's kinda easier to let YT autogenerate all the dialogue.  I have to fix it anyway, but it takes much less time that typing it all out twice.  Then I just copy/paste the fixed dialogue and use that as the baseline for the blog entries here.  Sometimes I'll encompass two entries in one (2 YT to 1 Blog or 1 YT to 2 Blog) depending on the amount of description or dialogue that is included.  It's not a 1:1 fit.

In other other news -

- Been playing Cyberpunk 2077.  It's a very well made game, but not really a medium to tell stories like Skyrim is.  And actually, it's a fantastic game.  With just a baseline level of modding that smooths out the rough edges (as did Patch 1.5).  But the story, gunplay, quickhacking and the setting, are just phenomenal.  I might post short things from Cyberpunk from time to time (until I lose interest).

- Been messing around with Midjourney, an AI that can generate images based on what you type.  I decided I'd make a new book cover for my first book.  Here, take a look. (I blanked out the name, not because I don't think youall can easily find out my real name, but to prevent there from being an eternal log of my presence here).  I will gladly admit I go on both sides of the line of Erotica and Regular Vanilla Fantasy.  It just helps with conflation of my different styles of work.

Actually, here are some more -

Roy but I'll have to fix the weird eyes

Beatrix, would have to fix the weird eye issue.

Splash for Part 3, would recolor the distant moon to black and change the building-thing to a tree shape.  The AI isn't perfect.

And another one of Nesari looking at a city, perhaps a splash for Part 4.
