Can we talk about the dumb shit gun nuts listen to? These are the dumb things I've witnessed:

 

Media: The shooters don't go to church anymore.

Me: Many people and their pets are perfectly fine without religion. Worst I've seen them do is pee on the neighbor's lawn. The pets I mean or maybe the people too.

 

Media: The shooter played violent video games.

Me: Last time the shooter played mostly dance dance revolution. Unless the shooter was dancing to Stayin' Alive while doing it I fail to see the connection.

To die by suicide silently in your own home and no one giving a damn; or getting a boatload of guns killing a megaton of people and letting the cops shoot you dead (suicide by cop), and everyone remembers you for years to come? My money is on the latter, I mean it IS easier than building a Instagram following, honestly.

My original post on this subject argued that the psychological state of the individuals is the main issue rather than the firearms and that is still my position. I also stated that other countries with high per capita firearm ownership do not have anywhere near the ratio of ownership to mass shootings as the USA.

What Mustafa and his merry men do in the Middle East or Africa is irrelevant. Sects and other groups have an hierarchy and structure and usually some sort of agenda or manifesto while the children entering schools and killing other children are working independently.

I'm just partial to Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy. Those two were killers, silent but deadly mass killers. Ah, how I long for the 70s when a simple slit of the throat was all one needed to get "famous". Now you have to get a gun and fire into NPCs, meh. Where is the slow stalking of prey? Where is the chase? Where is the seeing the light of your opponents' eyes vanish while you are staring them down? Now it is all long distance killing. Color me unimpressed. Jack the Ripper had more style.

Africa is a continent with a population of approximately 1.4 billion people across 54 countries.

China also has a population of approximately 1.4 billion.

So Venezuela and El Salvador is the bar for measuring the USA's record?

What equation would this be?

 

For starters we are not discussing gang-warfare or cults, sects, groups and the like. We are discussing individuals who go on a murderous rampage, particularly children entering schools and murdering other children.

Are you saying that the USA does not have a problem with all these mass shootings by children?

Are you saying that the USA's firearm related crime is not far greater than other countries?

The concept of Mass Shootings are themselves inconsequential in the grand scheme of things compared to other forms of mass casualty event, especially considering their general rarity compared to other forms of violence regardless of what the television would mislead you into believing.

 

Trying to fight Crazy with Stupid just so that people can feel that someone has 'done something' not going to turn out very beneficial result in the long run. One thing which would help right off is law enforcement agencies (the only ones who have guns in gun-free zones, incidentally) doing their jobs rather than cowering in fear or passing the buck off to other departments.

After seeing the spectacle that is the Platinum Jubilee, I am left wondering which nation has the most entertaining ostentatious public display of patriotism and if there should be some kind of international competition for this kind of thing just to flare up the patriotic fervor a few more ticks for good measure.

Nice try but a platinum jubilee is a once in 70 years event and is to celebrate the reign of the monarch. It has nothing to do with how great the country is. Where I live there were no street parties, no flags or bunting and I have not heard a single firework.

And apparently the PM was booed at one event. Edit: When he arrived at St Paul's Cathedral.
