Would be nice to see a non woke studio hire Depp to make a pirate movie and rub it in Disney's face.

Maybe, or considering his prior career, he has decided that he can be picky.    Some actors are the same, no matter what (Adam Sandler) stay the same, others (Keanu Reeves) gets better with time, while Depp has been good since 21 Jump Street (the series).

Curious if any others whom check YouTube 'regularly' have noticed an increase in shooting related news from regional local news? I thought I was just seeing some from my area, but now have been seeing them from all over the US.  None of these are mentioned nationally.

All I remember is a mention of a Texas school shooting which is a nice change of pace from those dumb rich actor trials. Should I feel bad for the kids? Honestly don't know. The news is running out of shocking material thus has desensitized me. I wonder what is going on in Russia?

It's funny you mention Russia because it made me realize how much that story died down over the past months. They're still at it, death and destruction is rampant but i don't see it making headlines consistently anymore. I find this a bit amusing.

If you were to watch AK Nation News, you might get a little hint of what is not considered worthy of national coverage due to the fact that nothing about those incidents can be used  to morally grandstand or give politicians more excuses to seize power/funding for themselves.

If you were then to watch a bit of Donut Operator, you might get a sampling of news stories too ridiculous to be believed (explaining why they don't make it to CNN, ABC or MSNBC).

This is what we in the software development business call 'an agenda'. This is using the branch of the algorithm reserved for covid.

Wonder why that is. (not really)

The actual interesting part is the amount of shootings that go unreported nationally because of the race of the shooters, such as Chicago and State; which has far more both local and national concerns and potential ramifications than the Tulsa incident, yet nary a peep from any national magazine or organization, wonder why that is. (not really)

What doesn't get mentioned in talk about US firearm crime is why countries with high firearm ownership do not have anywhere near the level of firearm related crime, especially the mass-shooting type.

Perhaps the question is not "should firearms be banned" but "why do we as a society produced so many fucked up people".

Yeah that's what happens when gun obsession meets ultra tradcon nonsense to create collective fucked up priorities. Banning guns doesn't stop violent crimes, and "a good man with a gun" logic is laughable at best. None of these people are even willing to consider that maybe someone else is the problem, it's either "ban all guns" or "muh freeze peach".

Their job isn't to ever fix the issue. It's to push their agenda. They could care less about the children that died in that school, let alone the mourning parents.

Who are 'they' and what is 'their agenda'?

Grammatically, 'they could care less' makes absolutely no sense in the context you are using it. What you are trying to say is 'they could not care less'. And in any case, how do you know what they think?

What action have you taken to help alleviate the problem?

--------------------------

Just for reference here in the UK we didn't have the 'team Johnny' - 'team Amber' bollocks for the most part. The Wagatha Christie case got more coverage but nowhere as intense as what was happening in the USA.

As for the Ukraine we still have coverage though it is competing with a non-stop series of stories about our corrupt government and this week is the queen's jubilee bash.

-------------------------

News cycles have been around since God was a lad and pre-date computer algorithms.

You're right. That was an error on my end.

I think it's obvious. Even you should know this since you seem to care so much about America.

Again, it's obvious. But I'm also not going to delve into this because it's a topic that will eventually get this thread locked or my comments removed.

Whether I took action or not will not make any difference. Again, for obvious reasons I will not go into.

Is this prophetic or what?

Is talking about politics, specifically political parties, interest groups, etc. now allowed?

You thinking something is obvious and that thing being a fact are two different things. I don't care about America, I care about humanity.

It is about as far from obvious as one can get. Nobody is able to say what another is thinking.

There you go with the obvious again. This time it is just an excuse for your inaction.

Forgot this bit. I know I was correct but it was not an error on your part. It was you following the trend for using that phrase like the rest of the sheeple.

Not necessarily. I have that tendency to post before proof reading. It's a bad habit a lot of folks have, including myself. And that's not necessarily a trend.

There has been 22 mass shootings in the USA since Uvalde ( a week ago). Only about 2 or 3 have made it to Lame Stream Media.

... checked the data again and found it's now 24 mass shootings - 2 more in the last 24 hours.

I try to directly avoid politics. My question was straightforward about a specific thing that might be political but the information requested was not. Being mature and clever can get one past a lot of gate keeping in life.

This is Rule 9 in toto:

In an effort to keep the site & community inviting and friendly we do not allow several categories of conversation. This is not intended as censorship or endorsement of any particular view, but rather a move to keep this site neutral and open. The categories of conversation that are not welcome include those discussing politics and religion. Too often these discussions descend into pointless bickering and lead to offending one party or the other (if not both). This sends the wrong message of what this site is all about. There are plenty of forums, blogs and other online outlets available for these types of conversations, this site is not one of them.

Please note that in the middle it explicitly says:

The categories of conversation that are not welcome include those discussing politics and religion.
