Mass killings of Christians occur on a regular basis in Northern Nigeria. The Middle East is still a war zone. The issue seems to be the presence of large numbers of people in one area who do not share a sense of a common good or even cultural touchstones. These are what can be called Low Trust Societies.

America is gradually becoming one thanks to hyper individualization and polarization made worse by their media consumption, not just in the content but the delivery methods.

Which is, in a way, a nice comment about most the people who post here.   We practice some degree of self censorship and generally avoid troll bait.    Can't happen on a larger scale, but LL is still small enough for that approach to work....most of the time.

There's politics and there's politics. For example most people mean party politics whereas for some of us politics is part of philosophy and comes between metaphysics and ethics (all, many, one).

I might need a lock aswell, but I feel it'd be pointless since it'd have to be one un/lockable from outside only - it'd be preposterous for a slave as lowly as I to have even just the right or ability to block Master's way.

 

Maybe a key only one, with no rotative piece or whatever that can be grabbed from outside the mechanism...

I'm not a morning person either, hell I can only really live at night thanks to being albino. Not great for people afraid of closed spaces I admit but it's pretty great to sleep in the day since it completely blocks off the light that would otherwise flood the bedroom regardless of curtains, 's what I use as a bed for myself when I don't sleep in Master's bed together with Master. Rather than privacy, being in confined spaces make me feel secure, very much akin to why I wear my collars/chokers and armswear tight.

 

There's three triple locks outside and Master has the only key for them and it somehow makes me feel unspeakably safe and at ease to be at the mercy of another, especially Master.

I myself don't quite understand it...

A couple things get me.

 

1. I tend to roll over a few times throughout the night, so are double-wide ones a thing?
2. Air flow.  Doesn't it get a bit stale in there?  If I ever farted... ventilation system?

1. Yeah, it's not uncommon at all but they cost limbs, mostly for extremely morbidly overweight people nowadays - and I don't mean to be mean to any who identifies as such - but couples that die together may want to be buried together so this'd be an option. I'm rather small so I fit mine like a baby's hand in @Z0mBieP00Nani's gloves and can even roll a bit but I quite fancy being stuck and unable to move too well so it's still a good balance I find~
2. Certainly it may be troublesome on that front but... Everybody knows good girls don't wallop! But I'd say there's a bit of a system on mine, with a small vent and fan in place for good measure. It can be shut from outside by Master as it works with a key as well, in case Master wishes to control my breathing.

Personally I like the classic designs like ones with the angles or the rectangular ones, the one in my bedroom is an hexagonal one (it was the heftiest) and the two I have for my Hearse are normal boxy ones, one's to act as a bed to have at the back and I turned the other into an audio setup, great to plug a guitar or bass and let my mortitude loose~!

 

I mean, DIY can be advanced like on the one in my bedroom but it's really up to the skills of the casket's owner. Drilling holes may leave one gasping for air even if air does pass through so I'd only advise those in great quantities, might as well call it swiss cheese.

Some people struggle since they can't help but always worry over stuff like this, I can easily see how some would ruin their lives to make their "happin-o-meter" show them as happy and never failing. It's like having a clock at the front of the classroom, at a school, everyone staring in that direction - the students - inevitably let their eyes wander there and be distracted by the anticipation of the bell.

 

Nothing good can come from this, other than a good laugh at others spiralling towards being miserable and feeling better about one's own mistakes.

That is just semantics.

By that logic Ukraine currently has the highest incidence of mass shootings and from my understanding none of those examples would fall under the US definition(s) of what constitutes a mass-shooting. All your examples feature the nice, peace loving Abrahamic religionists.

The deaths of Nigerian Christians (3,000 in 2021) are not all caused by firearms.

The fact that those deaths are primarily not caused by firearms is part of the point. When people in Low Trust Societies rankle due to the presence of members of that other group, they will take steps to alleviate their aggravation through any means necessary. The tools available merely affect the stats compiled after the fact.

More semantics and verbiage. Mass shootings in the context of the USA are an entirely different kettle of fish to religious and ethnic violence at the level of groups or organisations. The term 'mass shooting' has a definite meaning to various US entities, e.g. the FBI. Granted the meaning varies from entity to entity but they are all based around similar acts.

 

Gang related shootings and armed robberies gone wrong are bad enough and the US probably leads the world on those but children going into schools and killing other children is about as bad as it can get. There is absolutely no justification for allowing these acts to happen year on year on year.

 

The Second Amendment is just that - an amendment so amend it again or do away with it. Breaking news: The USA is no longer a sparsely populated country with a relatively large geographical area whose neighbours are the three largest empires in the world.

One of the best forms of evidence that a tool is not to blame for what the one wielding it does with it is Statistics themselves (which Benjamin Disraeli counted among the three kinds of lies). 

Stats are a useful shorthand when one wants a brief overview of recurring actions but when people use them to try to weave a complete narrative is when they become tools for deception. 

That is what makes databases that record raw information without playing to any individual factions more helpful to the general populace than abstracted stats compiled based upon whatever criteria is convenient at the moment.

 

If data bases such as this one were more common knowledge, I have to wonder if it would still be as easy to manipulate their perceptions through mass media.

There are no people who are well integrated into their society going around shooting people up, for one, so it is not dissimilar in substance to a shooting between sects or members of other nationalities. If those disaffected people would not use firearms, they would likely deploy bombs which kill large numbers of people at concert venues or use automobiles to run down dozens of people. 

 

There will be no simple solution that involves disempowering those who abide by the law for those who will find their means to kill regardless of what is legal.

One can buy the ingredients to Mustard Gas at every Big Box store are well as the means to make improvised explosive devices. A mob of angry people without weapons can destroy large swathes of property and cause harm to life. The solutions are not going to be grand, sweeping changes but relatively boring cultural changes and interpersonal actions.
