Guest Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I think a lot about how our brains make decisions about 10 seconds pre-conscious thought. My meat sack has free will, but the individual personality that I am (I guess) self-aware of doesn't. Because the meat sack's grey matter gets to lay the groundwork for the decision well ahead of what I think of as me kicking in to offer her opinion on the matter. So how many of the billions, trillions, who even knows, decisions in my life have been made by firing neurons that I can't control or influence versus me? Potentially, at best, and seemingly, at worst, all of them. So I also think a lot about how "personal decision-making" does a lot of heavy lifting for some very big and scary things in American politics/society, and I wonder, "is that even a real thing?"

I heard some of them talking in corridor how they will visit their doctors and make them contact our ministry of health to start to work on vaccination. Edited May 21, 2022 by Evaloves4

Gukahn Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Ever since the pandemic started people got extremely sensitive about viruses and stuff.. Few Years ago when the bird or pig flue hit germany, people were devouring Steak and Chickenwings without a care in the world, today? "We found yet another virus! Like.. Every other Day cause we find new variants of stuff very, VERY fucking often and we're still here." Let's Keep calm and eat a Schnitzel ? 1

Grey Cloud Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 (edited) I love this lady, she's as sharp as a tack and gives excellent explanations of various subjects. From what I understand she is a former actress currently doing a Ph.D in Classics and the jolly hockey-sticks thing is just a persona she uses for the vids. This one is about the Trojan War and is a good overview of a topic which is one of my main interests. steelpanther24 Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 I would get into Sims4 but........that is a community that I fear to tread.

Yeah - thankfully I never entered that realm...just had the huge frustration of EA's constant updates breaking all your mods, and the fact that they use their own launcher/client dealy (Origin). Fun times...lol Great animations though. Like fantastic.

steelpanther24 Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 A stroll back into the days of playing EQ. Yes the video is about WoW, but hey, the internet was young then and EQ had as much chance as being dominate as WoW. Oh yea, lets forget about Ultima Online ("we were first, damn it"). Spoiler

I'd imagine managing a family of 20 would be considered an achievement in the sims community. As a matter of fact, Full House challenges are very much part of the community's activities. In a very real sense, the Sims series is not merely some everyday RPG but a simulation which allows one to seal oneself into a mundane nightmare (except for the fourth installment. That one is a candy coated Hellscape all the way). It is Pleasantville in game form. Of course, one group's Perdition is another group's Paradise. 1

When I try to make myself feel better about a glorified dollhouse being one of my most played games I tell myself that it's actually a pretty hardcore strategy game, it's just that people don't get it. Money isn't the limited resource, making money is easy, time is. The strategy is trying to fit... well, whatever you want to achive, into the limited time the sims have. Well, unless you turn off aging, then it's just a dollhouse. 1
