Popular Post Aylis
Last Update: 03 Nov 2021 Updateinfo: in this post / Updatehistory The list is NOT compatible with the newest Bethesda update! For full AE or SE with the newest update please use 'Skyrim AE for Beginners'. Threadmap 1. Overview 2. Modlist 3. Installation - Recommended Settings 4. Screenshots (separate page) 5. Troubleshooting 6. Tips and Tricks - Start up 7. Downloads Who this guide is for. I've watched quite a few videos on Youtube and some of them look fantastic. But most of the time you simply don't get a complete list of what they actually use or have to watch a dozen or so (*cough* 275 *cough* MxR *cough*) to get a hint of what they might use and then they might switch mods at any time. So this here is my complete list and i've added a few screenshots and there is a video showcase that is very close (there are only minor differences) to my guide. I recommend to take a look there first so you'll know what to expect if you follow this guide. My goal is to get a beautiful game which is fun and, although it is a FRPG, as realistic as possible without punishing you for playing it. So you'll find no skimpy outfits (aka Bikinis in a snowstorm), overly gothified fantasy weapons and armor which are totally useless in reality (i replaced those as much as possible), and none of the punishing survival mods. What i did crank up is the difficulty via MorrowLoot and 'Deadly Wenches'. Higher tier weapons and armor are much harder to get and the enemies are no walk in the park anymore. Assas- sinating the leader of the Silverhand is no easy feat (i did it at lvl. 15 while he was lvl 28, but it took me some sweet time and he got me at least a dozen times). Your first hour in a dungeon (incl. a few mistakes a new adventurer might make): Spoiler One They Fear (Skyrim Animation) But the beauty of it is that you can still adapt the list to what you like. I'm just trying to give you a solid base where you can add the things you like (or remove the ones you don't). See 'Nothing is carved in stone' in post #6. A big 'Thank you' to all the modders out there! The game wouldn't be as good as it is now without you guys and gals! Don't forget to either endorse the mods you use or give the authors a 'thumbs up' here at LL. And, if you like my work, you can support me on Patreon. Most of the time i will be here anyway, so that one is for those of you that want to support me with all the work on this guide (better said providing me with a steady supply of much needed coffee and cookies ?). Recommended additional threads There are a two threads i can only strongly recommend: If you're new to modding take a look at Mod Organizer 2 & Other tools - From zero to "Hey Sexlab is working!". @Just Don't Does an excellent job there. ? When it comes to conversions and/or updates for SE then SE Compatibility Tracking is incredible useful. Thanks to @tasairis for keeping this updated. ? Happy to disappoint in this regard: Spoiler Congratulations! You just found a Daedric armor! Popular Post Aylis
Modlist Here you'll find every mod i either tested or use in my personal build of the game. I havn't had any crashes for a very long time. But there are some things you got to watch out for (see posts #3 and #6). Mod Manager I strongly recommend using MO2 for this. Troubleshooting and adding/removing mods is so much easier with this tool. You forgot something? Just install it and drag'n'drop it into the right position. Loadorder messed up? Just use drag'n'drop again. It got a slight learning curve (thats where the tutorial video come in). But once you got used to it, this tool is very very helpful. Also any errors showing up in the bottom window of MO2 can be ignored. Those have always been false positives. Try installing something via FOMOD and every option you don't use falsely shows up as an error. Regarding updates to the list Page #1 is always the most current official release. ESM/ESP/ESL There are a lot of confusion about esl and mod limits, so here is a brief summary. There are a total of 256 slots in the game. Of those 256 slots, one is reserved for the ess file and five for the official masters. This leaves 250 slots for esm/esp files, but that is not the mod limit. Some mods do not even take up any slots. It has often been stated that esl and esl flagged esp files do not take up a slot. That is incorrect. Using one or more esl or esl flagged esp file will reduce the 250 esm/esp slot limit to 249. Creation Club Please check the entry in the next post. Legend I added some additional info to a lot of the mods which might be useful to you: (FPS) : These mods will have an impact on your FPS. (Test) : Working fine in all my tests, but there could still be hidden bugs. (Optional) : Not absolutely necessary but recommended. (Group XY) : These mods belong together. If you want one of the lower mods in the group you usually need the ones above it. (Preview) : I created some screenshots for this armor. (Tip) : There is an entry for it in 'Tips and Tricks'. (File) : You can find the download for this file in post #7 'Files'. (Scriptheavy) : In Skyrim you shouldn't have too many of these mods. They can influence the speed of the gameplay and will increase your loading time. (Advanced) : These require some extra attention. Instructions can be found in post #6. ? : Will require an update when Bethesda releases more content for the CC. ?XYZ : Patch from a mod that has to be moved to this spot in the load order ?XYZ : Instructions to improve the gameplay or to prevent bugs. ?XYZ : Personal remarks [Gone from Nexus] : I hope they will return on another site, so i keep them in the list for now Preinstallation Here we got a few things to do before we install our first mod with a mod manager. Spoiler Recommended tools: There are a few programs out there everyone should use and that will make the whole process a bit easier. 7-Zip Free compression and extraction tool that supports almost all formats. Notepad++ Very useful if you have to modify ini or cfg files. _______________________________________________ VC++ Sometimes Win10 'forgets' to install all required files. The 'vc_redist.x64.exe' fixes that. Sync Load Order Plugin for Mod Organizer 2 With all the updates this might come handy. ?SKSE This mod is needed for quite a few mods to work at all. Just copy the files into your gamefolder (usually …/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition). Watch out to use the correct version for your Skyrim SE! ?DynDOLOD (3.00!) (Tip) Install the main file to be able to create LOD later on (see 'post #3') and don't forget to set the parameter for SSE. Spoiler ENB I can only strongly recommend the Rudy ENB SE. As this one gives us, together with Obsidian and Luminosity, a very beautiful world. This Video will almost (there are some minor differences) show you what you can expect. Here you'll find a modified ini for Rudy which will improve your game. Spoiler Comparison of different ENB (Optional) Reshade and a preset. They will darken the shadows and raise the contrast. This will also help with the lighting in dungeons as well. Velvet ReShade (Staying close to the original Rudy ENB) NOLVUS Reshade (Bleaker setting) SSEEdit This is a powerful tool to fix problems or create patches for Skyrim SE. Required addons: Mator's Patching Framework Better Dynamic Snow Patcher xEdit Wrye Bash We need this one to create a socalled 'Bashed Patch' to make sure everything works nicely together (instructions can be found in post #3). Initializing the game You first have to run Skyrim via the normal launcher (aka without SKSE). Then the game will initialize and create the required ini files. Usually it is enough to just run the game 'til you leave the carriage in Helgen. After that quit the game and you can start to install mods. Installation The most important thing first: DO NOT CHANGE THE LOADORDER WITH LOOT! Take your time building this modlist. Make a quick 'does it work' check every time you finish one of the categories (i.e. Foundation / SKSE extensions / UI). Then once you finalize this you make a larger spotcheck (visit all the cities at least). Now you have a working install, and when you take a scenic walk around you probably have a good idea how your system is handling it. Does it still feel fluid? When your FPS goes down is the game still responsive or do you have stutters? How long are the loading screens? All this gives you a basic idea if you still have room to put mods on top of it. It would not be a good idea to add another script heavy mod when you are already seeing CPU stalls. The ini files at the end of the list got some added multicore settings which should help with this. Anyway, make sure to save the current modlist and loadorder in MO2, and only then add 'unsupported' stuff to it. Most common mistake is to add too much stuff in too large chunks and then having to figure out which one of the dozen mods you added at the same time is the one fessing things up. A big 'Thank you' @alaunus01 for this part. With that out of the way the Installation is quite forward: 1. I always install the mods in the same order they are listed. At the end, when everything is installed i manually move the ESM to the top (while keeping the order in which they were installed) and check that the patches are below the mods they are supposed to patch. Spoiler 2. Then come the last few steps. Creating the bodyslides, FNIS, Nemesis, the bashed patch and at last DynDOLOD. The ESP from DynDOLOD always have to be at the bottom of your load order. Creation club Spoiler Anything from the CC will end up here. I recommend to create an empty modfolder for each creation and move the files from overwrite to it. This way you can easily decide if and when you want to use them. Foundation Spoiler Cleaned DLC (File) ☑️?Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch ?Make sure to use THIS VERSION. Popular Post Aylis
Antivirus settings The necessary AV can become problematic when it comes to mod games from Bethesda. Often enough they are way to aggressive trying to protect your system and can make the creation of files (like you do with DynDOLOD) difficult. In order to prevent problems you have to exclude some executables and folders from the AV. But always make sure they are clean before doing that and scan the updates of the mods! Executables: ModOrganizer.exe DynDOLODx64.exe TexGenx64.exe XLODGenx64.exe / SSELODGenx64.exe Folders (plus their subfolders): MO2 DynDOLOD If you're running 'MS Defender' this might not be enough. With the last update they increased the protection (aka MS knows better) and you have to deactivate the 'Real Time Protection' when you intend to create the 'Grass Cache' or run DynDOLOD. Creation Club Obviously i couldn't check every mod Bethesda offers in the CC as i have no intention to buy them. So i only got a few i could test. Some mods of the CC seem to have problems with a modded game so you'll have to check which ones will actually work with the list (and please report them to me). Working: Spoiler Alternate Armor - Daedric Mail OK, if you like the look. Alternate Armor - Dragonscale '' Alternate Armor - Dwarven Mail '' Alternate Armor - Ebony Plate '' Alternate Armor - Elven Hunter '' Alternate Armor - Stahlrim Fur '' Arcane Accessories Actually useful and recommended. Arcane Archer Pack '' Nordic Jewelry For free OK, otherwise skip it. Saturalia Holiday Just don't. Even if you get it for free... Spell Knight Armor OK, if you like the look. Work but have issues: Spoiler Backpacks They are not recognized by SexLab and will not be removed during animations. Tundra Homestead Only bookshelves in the bedroom, flickering textures. Wild Horses Caution: it will NOT work correctly with Creature Schlongs installed! Cause problems: Spoiler Survival Mode Doesn't work with USSEP. You can try Survival Mode USSEP Patch but i havn't tested it... DynDOLOD The first look at DynDOLOD can be intimidating. Especially if you watch the (a bit outdated) tutorial video. But if you follow my list it can be condensed to an easier installation and use with MO2. Installation Spoiler Manual steps: Just unpack the main file where you have room for it (Just not the drive with Skyrim). The mod xLODgen can be installed to the same folder. Mod Manager: The rest is installed like any other mods. Just keep them in the same order as they appear in the list and you'll be fine. Running them in MO2 As MO2 works with a virtual Installation you'll always have to run DynDOLOD through it. So add them all (DynDOLODx64 and TexGenx64) to the drop down menu on the right side (dont forget the parameter '-sse' for DynDOLOD and '-sse -o' for xLODgen) and it will now include all your installed mods when you start it. Spoiler Configuration and running the programs Spoiler DynDOLOD Now comes the interesting part which requires two separate steps for the best visuals. But don't forget that the 'Bashed Patch' also contains changes to the landscape which have to be fed into DynDOLOD. Check the settings of your AV software! Step 1: Texture Generator Run the 'Texture Generator'. After a short while a window will pop up and there's one option you might want to change, the 'Units per Pixel' for the billboards. The lower that number is the better everything will look. The 'Base Size' for the textures can be lowered in the first two groups. But the standard setting works fine even with my old Radeon 570. Now copy the content of the folder into a new folder (i named mine 'DynDOLOD Texture Output') in MO2 (usually '.../MO2/Mods') and activate it. Step 2: DynDOLOD Now we use DynDOLOD to create the LOD for all trees and objects in the game. For that i strongly suggest to use the advanced option. The quality (Low/Medium/High) is up to you. You know best what the system you use is capable of. Activate all areas in the list at the left corner and activate everything else shown in the picture. Tip: Recommended DynDOLOD 'tree' mesh rules Performance: LOD4/Billboard4, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard6 (looks VERY good and may be optimal for many) Optimal : LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Billboard4, LOD16/Billboard6 Ultra : LOD4/Level0, LOD8/Level1, LOD16/Level2 Important: In case you previously changed the mode for the grass cache you have to set 'Mode' to the same number. Options: 1. I recommend to use the 'Ultra' trees over the normal 'Tree LOD'. It does look better. 2. The 'Billboard Brightness' is something you have to experiment with should you use the 'Tree LOD'. I recommend '-5' to '-7' for 'Rudy ENB'. Now copy the content of the folder into a new folder (i named mine 'DynDOLOD LOD Output') in MO2 (usually '.../MO2/Mods') and activate it. (ADVANCED) Nemesis and FNIS This is how i got it to work (remember that the software is still BETA). Spoiler 1. Install Nemesis just below FNIS (but DON'T activate the mod yet!) 2. Run FNIS normally Spoiler If you follow my guide closely you'll need to tick the following three options. 3, Create your 'FNIS Output' from overwrite and activate it 4. Now deactivate the main mod for FNIS and activate Nemesis 5. Run the update. 6. Now select 'Jump Behaviour Overhaul', 'Movement Behaviour Overhaul', 'SkySA' and 'TK Dodge' (works for SE as well) in the list. 7. Let Nemesis run through 8. Create your 'Nemesis Output' from overwrite, activate it and let it overwrite 'FNIS Output' 9. Done Edited December 7, 2021 by Aylis 60 Link to comment

Popular Post Aylis
Troubleshooting As you can imagine we might run into a bug or glitch while running so many mods. In this post i'll try to give you some informations to either diagnose or solve them. Problem while installing mods Sometimes the installation of a mod is problematic as the folder structure doesn't work with MO2. If you see a second 'Data' folder use it instead of the selected standard (see pic). Spoiler General tips for issues Spoiler Blue/purple look - Missing textures Black Face - Problem with the LO or a missing mod/patch. Invisible objects - Usually missing meshes CTD at a certain spot - Usually a problem with meshes - sometimes a texture Random CTD - Could be Skyrim being Skyrim... Or anything else. Those are hard to fix. Lagging execution - Too many scripts for the used system. Overlapping objects - Two mods modifying the same spot. Infinite load - Usually either a missing master or the wrong mod for LE in the LO. Tools Elephant's Script Latency Tester This mod will help you to determine if you got too many scripts running. FallrimTools After uninstalling a mod it might be a good idea to run this tool to remove remnants of scripts. The safe route: Spoiler Load the savegame Now choose this option Save and you're done. The better but riskier route: Use this with caution! It might break your savegame! Spoiler Load the savegame Now choose this Option Save and start the game. Wait a minute in game, make a hard save, leave and restart the Fallrim Tools again. Now the check for remaining 'undefined elements' Only remove the ones where you KNOW EXACTLY that they are not needed anymore! Save and you're done. NetImmerse Override Cleaner SE This small tool reduces the bloat of your savegames. A nice sideeffect are better loading times and you should run it once in a while. --- ---- ----- ----- ----- ---- --- Bugs and (possible) Fixes While none of them are really breaking the game they appear randomly and are annoying enough to deserve an entry here. Black Face So far this has always been an issue with the load order of the mods or a missing patch. It is caused by either using the wrong textures for the meshes underneath or an overlay that isn't working properly. Effect: Visual Fix : Rechecking the LO and looking for missing patches. No Fix: DON'T use the mod 'Face Discoloration Fix'! It only hides the issue but does NOT solve the underlying problem! Blurry Visuals Well, this is no bug but an effect of the mod 'Dripping when Aroused' Effect: Visual Fix : Changing settings in the MCM. Spoiler Blue/Purple Argonian Tails This can become a problem if the game garbles the path for the correct textures and can't find them anymore. The provided file should fix that problem. Effect: Visual Fix : Install the provided fix (see 'Files') as the last one in the group 'LL'. Spoiler MCM slow/not appearing With all the mods we use the MCM can be quite slow to update. If it takes longer than two minutes then you can try a console command. Effect: See title Fix : open the console and use 'setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1'. Missing penis - Snow Elves Fixing this might be a bit overkill. Effect: Visual Fix : Installing Ancient Falmer a snow elf race SOS Plugin Physics cause problems It shouldn't happen if you follow this guide but to be on the safe side i wrote a miniguide to check if the foundation works. Effect: See title Fix : Check this thread here. SKSE - SHGetFolderPath An AVS is a necessary evil. But often enough they are a bit too agressive and can screw you over. If SKSE suddenly stops working your AVS might be the problem. Spoiler Error from SKSE: Effect: SKSE stops working. Fix : Deactivating the 'Ransomware Protection' of the AVS. Popular Post Aylis
Tips and Tricks Character Creation This is the part where a lot of people (including myself) struggle with. Finding the right body is the smaller part of the problem, but getting the face right can take forever... Aylis (also see 'Files') took me something around two days 'til i liked the result. Body There are quite a few different bodys out there and my choice is in the list. But it might be that you don't like that one. So i recommend to check out the CBBE Presets Compendium. The author of this mod got quite a few bodytypes available. With 3BBB this becomes even more difficult as you should use a body which was created for 3BBB. Otherwise you might loose most of its features. Face This is the really hard part. We end up with so many sliders and options that it is hard to find the one that you actually need. Thankfully there are many presets already available where people share their creation with others. But remember that each of these presets is race specific! What looks great on a Nord might not work well on a Breton or Dunmer... Animation While most animations we add are done for Sexlab. there are a few other options regarding standard animations as well. Something for the female sitting and walking animations are already in the list, but there are more which might be useful for you. The most important thing to remember is FNIS. You have to rerun it whenever you change something that has anything to do regarding animations. Also you have to reregister the mods in 'Creature Framework' (if you use that one) and reset the animation registry in 'Sexlabs'. Another thing to mention is the scaling in regards to animations. While i had no trouble with the options in the MCM i'd rather recommend to use the mod Player Size Adjuster and First Person Camera Height Fix SSE for your char. Your Breton (or whatever the race is) might be now taller than the average member of that race, but the alignment of the animations works better this way, as most of the animations seem to have been made for the size of a Nord. Bodyslide I usually run Bodyslide several times. The purpose of this is to adapt the physics to the equipment my character is wearing. I simply don't like the look of the heavy plate armor using the same physics as a robe. I've included files which contains (where possible) all this for the armors in the list further below. If you want to make your own please check the guide from @killswitch1968. ENB, Weather, Lighting and Skin All these kind of mods influence each other and finding the right combination can take a lot of time. Change one of the first three and the look of the game can change drastically, it might even change the feel of the game. Spoiler RLO Same view with Luminous The chosen texture for your character is very sensitive to the used ENB. What works perfectly fine in one setup might lead to bugs in another. Shadows might be wrong, you suddenly get the infamous bronze bug, etc. Hardware As some of us might be on a budget for gaming i'll give you my recommendations when it comes to hardware. But one thing you have to check first is the 'Grafik-kartenrangliste' (just scroll down a bit) to get a rough estimation how your video card is ranked. CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600 or equivalent (Minimum) GPU: Radeon RX 570 or equivalent (Minimum). Expect ~30 FPS in an exterior environment with everything installed. If you want to upgrade and save some money you might want to take a look at another Ryzen, this motherboard (which is still a good option) and 16 or 32 GB RAM. Improving Framerates Depending on your videocard (i'm saving for a new one atm) some of the mods in the list will tank your framerates. The biggest influence have the ones marked with (FPS) (at least that are the ones i know of). If you use MO2 i recommend to download them, but not to activate them for now. If you get a better videocard later on you can activate them, rerun DynDOLOD, and play the 'new' game with a big smile on your face… Also check your ini-settings for Verdant (read its description for that). You can get a few FPS back if you tweak those settings. Loading Times There are a few factors regarding your loading times. First of all your storage. In a lot of games ist not that important, but when it comes to Skyrim (and FO4) i strongly recommend a PCIe NVME for your game (a heavily modded Skyrim and FO4 are the exception where it does make a difference) and an SSD for the swapfile. With all the texture mods it will reduce your loading times. The second thing are the scriptheavy mods. I deactivated EGG Factory for some tests and the loading time went drastically down (i'm considering atm to remove it from my system completely). The impact of scripts seems to be much bigger in Skyrim than it is in FO4. Third thing are your framerates. The lower your framerates are the longer your loading times become. LOOT You do not need LOOT at all (except to check for possible problems (and have fun with the false positives))! I'm used to NMM where the correct loadorder was extremely important, so this list is built so that it works as it is. The only thing you have to do is to maybe move a patch or two further down and move the ESM up. Thats all in that regard. Memory One common problem with a suddenly crashing game is the required memory. I've had set the swapfile of my system to 10GB (beginning and ending with 10GB) and very often had a CTD. I installed and removed mods, redid DynDOLOD, checked and rechecked meshes, but nothing helped (as they weren't the problem). It simply was that i ran out of memory… Let your OS handle the swapfile and this problem will be a thing of the past. Sometimes tuning your system is detrimental. Mods worth mentioning. I got a few mods which i will not include in my list but which could still be interesting to you. Spoiler Aumriel - The Pale Lady (Creatures) Bugfix: now the game follows its own lore. Ave's Skyring (Armor and Weapons) Adds very detailed rings for our screenarchers to the game. Crime Bounty Decay SSE (Override) People forget. With enough time gone by even crimes get forgotten. Dragonfly No Flee (Override) This is a nice mod for all the alchemists. Dragon Souls to Perk Points (Override) Sooner or later you got all the shouts, but you can still collect Dragon souls which can't be used for anything else. This mod changes that and you can now spend a certain amount (set via MCM) of them for perk points. Dunmeri Leaf Swords (Arrmor and Weapons) Miniquest for some awesome looking weapons. Isilmeriel LOTR Weapons Collection SSE (Arrmor and Weapons) Incredibly good looking weapons. I hope i'll manage to exchange the glass bow of 'Real Bows' with the one from this mod. Lilly - A fully-voiced female courier replacer and follower (NPC) As a follower maybe a bit too old (mod is from 2016) but definitely an improvement as a replacer for the courier. NOT recommended mods Sadly i found a few mods which are incompatibel with this list, cause problems, or got other issues that make them undesireable for us. This might change in the long run but as they are atm i simply can't recommend them. Spoiler Animated Parasites Causes major problems with HDT-SMP and 3BBB Apachii Divine Elegance Store While this mod had quite a few interesting armors it also reintroduced me to random CTD (which didn't happen for months before installing this mod). Dawnguard Map Markers Sadly the mapmarkers are visible on the main map too. Spoiler Distinct People and Distinct Husbands Introduces CTD. Sadly i found no way to get those two stable within the list. Dog to Husky replacer Seems to remove all dogs instead of replacing them. Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul Sadly this one doesn't play nice with JK's Skyrim. Its a real shame as it added so much to the game. I've tried it (some say it does work) but removed it later as it can get annoying. Lets take Belethor as an example. He takes his meals in the 'Bannered Mare' before opening his shop. Its a relativ short distance, but very often he needs hours (in game) to finally get to the door of his shop. Then you can finally enter but there's a good chance that he asks you to leave again... Immersive College of Winterhold Interferes with so many other mods thats it is not worth the trouble fixing all the problems it causes. No Spinning Death Animation Causes glitches and visual bugs with corpses. Pretty Female Idle Loop 8-9 SE This just won't work for us. Breaks other animations and getting T-poses doesn't bode well. Realistic Water Two (and Water HD) All the used changes to the landscape destroyed the LOD for this mod. Spoiler Sea of Spirits Sadly this mod got a few glitches (like flying sharks, and some other ones). Sexworkers life No matter what i tried it always ended up in a CTD. I'll keep an eye on it, as it sounds interesting, but for now it isn't working here. SkySight Skins - Ultra HD 4K 2K Male Textures and Real Feet Meshes Same problem as Vitruvia (aka Body/Face mismatching textures). Smelter for Riften and Solitude Solitude was a bit tight but worked, Riften didn't. Nothing is carved in stone... I've tested quite a few mods to find the combination which i like the best. But you might disagree with some of the choices i made and i definitely don't think it is the best-of-them-all list. We all got different things we like (or not), so i'll give you a few links for some comparisons so you have something you can base your own choice on. But please be careful with the compatability. Now grab a drink, relax and enjoy: (Video) Comparison of ENB. (Video) Comparison of grass mods. (Video) Comparison of lighting mods. (Video) Comparison of texture packs. (Video) Comparison of weather mods. Also don't forget: whenever you change something you have to rerun DynDOLOD. OS and DirectX Older games (and Skyrim is one of them) might run into trouble with DirectX. Microsoft made their newer OS compatible with the older versions of DirectX but didn't include all the older files. But it might be that a game requires a specific file from an older version and will give you trouble if it can't locate it, If you want to make sure that this is not the case i strongly suggest to install the old version of DirectX on top of the one provided by your OS. Skyrim SE and updates from Bethesda It will happen. Sooner or later Bethesda will grace us with the next update and a lot of the mods in the list won't work anymore. To prevent that from happening in the future you will have to change a few settings in the game and follow a simple rule. 1. Set Skyrim to only update when launched through the game properties, 2. Make sure Steam is always running before you launch Skyrim, like by making it start on boot, 3. Always launch through the SKSE launcher, which you have to do anyways. 4. Make a backup of your Skyrim.exe! If something goes wrong let the update run through and replace the EXE with your backup. Then it is 1-3 again. If your Skyrim updated automatically then you can Downgrade. Starting up Archer So you wanna be an archer whelp? Well, then listen carefully as it might save your life. Spoiler First you need to get a good bow, a hundred or so arrows and earn your first kills. If you survive this run you'll be on your way to become a real archer... Now get to the 'Shimmermist Cave' and prepare for your first adventure. Your first enemy will be a spider or one of these big rats. Should pose no problem at all... But the Falmer in that cave love their traps so look out for tripwires. Now watch out for the guard. Shoot him once with an arrow. He'll come looking for you but will not find you if you sneak. Which, btw, is how you move in there. Slow and steady. If you miss one in a group move back a bit and you'll be fine. Just don't forget to grab his bow! That one will be better than what you got there. Whatever that thing you're holding is supposed to be... Going further you'll find one of their witches. Shoot her once and back off a bit. Rinse and repeat. Going further you'll find a small group of Falmer. Again, one shot and back down into the small tunnel you came from. Do that 'til you killed both of them and can move on. Now it becomes a bit harder. Chaurus got a mean bite and the flying ones are even worse for a little one like you. One (flying) Chaurus to the left. There's a pillar just ahead. One shot to lure the Chaurus there, then shoot him and run back to a dark corner at the start of the tunnel. Repeat this 'til you managed to kill him. A flying and one crawling Chaurus below the bridge ahead. Use the same tactic as before, just run to the raised spot where you started to lure the first Chaurus. However you handled the Chaurus, just move on 'til you see a campfire. Here it becomes more difficult as the guard there is fast and quite dangerous. You on the other hand only have a small window to shoot him. So prepare to move as soon as the arrow is in the air. Now come the real challenge and thats why you need so many arrows. Remember this position as you have to get back here again and again to survive. The big guy has to fall first. He's slow but can take a lot of abuse and still kill you. One shot and move your ass behind the door! The last one got a lot of life, so you have to whittle him down. Be patient and sooner or rather later he will fall too. If you're lucky you can find some sweet loot there. I got my first dwarven bow there and it still serves me well. If all goes well you leave this cave with level 7 or 8. I Recommend to learn perks in the following order: Sneak Light armor (heavy armor works too but will make this run harder) Sneak Bow Sneak Bow Edited October 4, 2021 by Aylis 32 Link to comment
Popular Post Aylis
Downloads Instead of having the files spread all over this thread i'll collect them here. Bugfix: Blue/Purple Argonian Tails I created this fix with my list in mind. It might not work for you if you don't use Feminine Argonian Textures (Chameleon and Lizard) [CBBE]. TailsFix.7z Cleaned DLC @jaeos provided his cleaned DLC so we don't have to do that ourselves. ? DLC-Cleaned.7z Dead Briarheart SoS Patch @4nk8r created a patch that finally fixed a bug that has been haunting me for years. I only repacked it so it is easier to install. Dead Briarheart SoS Patch.zip Enemies @wollboi was so nice to create and share an area guide where you can see the general level of the enemies there. But be warned, there might still be surprises lurking in a hidden corner. Urag gro-Shub - Librarian of the Arcanum Morrowloot Helper.xls Improved labia for 'Bijin Skin' As i wasn't impressed with the look of the labia we got from Bijin i combined parts of one of Bazinga's files with Bijin to improve the list. Don't forget to give him a 'Thumbs up' as this file wouldn't exist without his permission. Well, it would, but not for you to download... Bijin Skin - CBBE Improved Labia.7z Spoiler Open (reacts to penis and fingers) Improved labia for every skin (CBBE) You have to blend this file with your preferred skin. neokio
On 3/17/2019 at 2:03 PM, Kythana said: Bodyslide As you can see in the list i've run Bodyslide several times. I did this to adapt the physics to the equipment you are wearing. 1. RS Body : Only Body, Hands, Hands Beast, and Feet 2. RS Unrestricted Physics : Only Amulets, Rings, Boots, Gauntlets, Gloves, Hoods and Helmets. 3. RS Restricted Physics : Only Clothing and Light Armor in the body location. 4. RS No Physics : Only Medium and Heavy Armor in the body location. NO morphs! This is super interesting! Can you help me understand it a bit better? The only way I know to use BodySlide is to ... Select the "CBBE Special" outfit/body so that my preset shows up Select my preset Hit "Batch Build" (with "Build Morphs" on) Hit "Build" in the popup In the "Choose output set" menu, selecting "CBBE Body Special", and going down that massive list, selecting all the physics-enabled sets where it makes sense (non-physics for heavy armor). But I thought the only place to choose physics was with whatever body you were viewing when you hit batch! You make is seem like you can set the physics level in something other than the author-defined output set (which is usually only non-physics or physics variants). You're using groups to differentiate your 4 categories, which is pretty cool. You made those groups yourself, right? Don't you still have to select the output set when building? How do you choose between "Body" and "Restricted Physics" physics? Like, why not do them at the same time? What's the difference between "Body" and "Unrestricted"? Aren't they both just ... physics? What am I not getting? Any clarification, especially visual, would be most welcome Link to comment
Aylis
@Bastardiosa You're welcome. And Yes, using the whole list ends up to be timeconsuming. But it is imho worth it... @neokio I ran into problems when combining 'Body' and 'Unrestricted Physics' in one run. Maybe i screwed up somewhere, but so far it always worked for better me when i took the route with a bit more work. Better to be safe (and thorough) than sorry. Also it gives me the option to quickly test a new preset. For the rest i have to write a bit more. I came up with it when i was rebuilding Skyrim for a new run (i needed a change after working for months on my guide for FO4. Thankfully SexLab is 'a bit' easier than AAF) Generally it looks like this (disregarding the preset for a moment): Body : no physics, just fitting the armor to the preset. Body Physics : limited form of physics, great for armor - but too limited when the PC is nude. Body Special : full physics, great for a nude PC - but too much when you wear something in the body-location (you won't see the special stuff). Now to the effect of the presets: *whatever you use* : no limits for the shape of the body. *whatever you use* (Outfit) : the form of the body is restricted as the worn outfit limits the shape a body can take (hope that makes sense in english). Having to choose an output is caused by the list in Bodyslide. All armors got a non-physics variant and only some a physics variant too. Link to comment
neokio
30 minutes ago, Kythana said: but too much when you wear something in the body-location Holycrap, does batch building Body Special for everything impact performance? Am I right that whatever outfit/body and preset you are using (CBBE Body, CBBE Body Physics, or CBBE Body Special) is what is used when you hit build? 35 minutes ago, Kythana said: Now to the presets: *whatever you use* : no limits for the shape of the body. *whatever you use* (Outfit) : the form of the body is restricted as the worn outfit limits the shape a body can take I kind of understand ... are those 3 CBBE bodies the ONLY bodies, and everything else is an outfit? Do you ever build with an outfit selected, or only with a body? (And thank you, I'm learning a lot) Link to comment
Aylis
@neokio Afaik the Outfit/Body determines the mechanics and the preset determines the form of the body. Selecting a specific part of an armor only makes sense if you just added one or two new armor sets, other than that i'd always go with batch. If it affects the FPS is something i don't know, but i doubt thats the case. 'Are those 3 CBBE bodies the ONLY bodies, and everything else is an outfit?' -> As long as you didn't install something else, this is correct. (overlooked that) In the end it might just be me being german. We tend to make everything perfect (and often enough overcomplicate it along the way). ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Updating Status to Release 1.0.2 - Added Go to bed to the list and also a second option for 'Weather and Lighting'. 3 Link to comment
Aylis
Updating Status to Release 1.0.3 - Added Bellyaches HD Dragon Replacer Pack to 'NPC and Creatures. Totally overlooked this one. Sadly Luxor8071 only got one dragon covered atm and should he ever do the rest i'm going to switch. We already use a lot of his mods (and they are fantastic!). Added a video to both 'Weather and Lighting' to show what you can expect when you use one of the groups. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Added 'Bugs and (possible) Fixes' to 'Tips and Tricks'. Spoiler ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The LOD of water seems to be off sometimes. Working on a solution atm... Spoiler 'Old' water This btw is one of the Skyshards. 'New' water Looks a little bit different - but we need some esp less than before. Aylis
Updating Status to Release 1.1.6 This is a Major change. I've been using Realistic Water Two for many years now. But it looks i have to switch to something else as i finally got it to its limits. REMOVED mods: Realistic Water Two Water HD Smelters for Riften and Solitude Solitude worked, Riften didn't. Now to the new stuff: Lightweight Water Overhaul - added to Basics White Water HD - added to Textures Bathing in Skyrim - added to Override Ordinator - added to Override Ordinator Bruma Patch - added to Override Feminine Jarl Sitting Animation - added to 'Physics and Animation' Link to comment
Aylis
Updating Status to 'Release 1.2.0 Final' This is it! It was a very long week (including way too little sleep) but we're finally here. <HAHA You didn't really think it would be THAT easy!> This is the final (?) version. Nexus hid a few things from me, i found some new mods (@Kokan Thanks a lot for the tip), rediscovered some old favourites of mine, and even finally got 'my' perfect ENB. From now on it will be only bugfixes (should they raise their ugly head again) and maybe an entry or two which might be interesting for you. New mods will only be added if they are an update, will improve the gameplay or save us an ESP or two (or blows me away with something incredible). Last mods to add: Better Jumping - will be added to SKSE Dawnguard Sentries Plus - will be added to 'NPC and Creatures' Ebongrove SE - will be added to 'Area Expansions' Peacekeeper Armour - CBBE - will be added to Armor I might still take a look at Luminosity but that is imho not really necessary (Lighting Mods). Now it is up to you. Have fun and don't hesitate to ask if you have a question... 1 Link to comment
Aylis
Added entry 'Nothing is carved in stone' to 'Tips and Tricks'. In the end it is all about having a choice... I've tested most of the stuff there before starting with this list. But if you want to change something those links are a good starting point. 1 Link to comment
chevalierx
NO SMP talk Skyrim se need more power machine then oldrim even if enb is less fps killer then old you could talk about how optimize game ,like loot , conflit mods, have less mod for the same things Link to comment
Mountblancc
im downloading all you mod, but one esential mod i cant download in nexus : SINful CBPC MCM , can i get it somewhere it says archieved or discontinue 1 Link to comment
Aylis
@chevalierx Hmm, did you take a look at post #3? A lot of the stuff you ask for is already there… What do you mean with 'NO SMP Talk'? @Mountblancc Ouch, thats not good. Sadly this happens... I've chosen this mod as it was very easy to configure. An alternative would be SINful CBP. Thanks for bringing this up (would have taken me quite some time to notice it). ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Updating Status to 'Release 1.2.1 Final' Switched the missing mod for an alternative. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ O.O Entered a few locations and it looks like the ENB also has an influence in regard to the used lighting mod. 'Yngvild' was way to bright and the 'Shimmermist Cave' way to dark. My last visits looked different... I'm trying a few combinations now (DynDOLOD alone will cost 'a few' hours) and will also give Luminosity (and the maplightfix) a shot. RLO An old favourite of mine. Most areas look absolutely fine, but others don't. 'Shimmermist Cave' is so dark you can't see anything at all... It is almost as if it was forgotten while creating the mod. It also removes some light sources. ELFX Removes quite a lot of the lightsources and still got the problem with the flickering (aka lights vanish when you change direction) in some places. Relighting Skyrim Very good idea but some areas in dungeons or caves are way too dark. ELE Not bad, not bad indeed. Still suffering from being too dark in some places. Luminosity Now thats unexpected. Thats the one i think fits best... (and i thought nothing could beat RLO). Dark where it should be and the lights fit the scene. 'Ysgramor's Tomb' suddenly looks so much better, i didn't even know that there were so many candles. The 'Shimmermist Cave' is gloomy and not just pitchblack. I dismissed this one, as it looked way too bright in the videos i checked. Now it seems to be the lighting mod which works perfectly with the ENB. Surprisingly, as it doesn't cover the exteriors, the outside world also seems to look better than before. Also it reminds me quite a lot of ELFX when it comes to colors. 1 Link to comment
Aylis
Updating Status to 'Release 1.2.4 Final' Hopefully those will be the last changes for now. But the bug with the lighting simply had to be adressed, which also lead to a change of the texture for the PC. The good thing is that we got rid of a few ESP. Removed mods: Realistic Lighting Overhaul Demoniac Texture New mods Luminosity will be added to 'Weather and Lighting' maplightfix will be added to 'Weather and Lighting' Bijin Skin SE will be added to PC Will add the entry 'ENB, Weather, Lighting and Skin' to 'Tips and Tricks'. Also a few new screenshots for you. 1 Link to comment

Aylis
@chevalierx Ah, HDT, now i get it I left that out for several reasons: 1. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it (aka nothing for beginners). 2. The latest version seems to have some trouble. 3. There isn't much there for SE that requires HDT. In my opinion the effort to set that up for SE is not worth the hassle. The only thing i miss from Oldrim are the physics for the hair, but trying to figure it out so i can try the few hairstyles for SE? Nope, not me. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Should i add something so you can see which mods might be affected if Bethesda makes another update for the creation club? 1 Link to comment
