What really makes you happy?

For dinner I made classic pomodoro pronto with tomatoes and onions out of my own garden, along with handmade pasta chitarra and homemade pane rustica.  Washed it all down with 5 yr old bottle of Castello chianti.  Eating good food makes me happy; the 4 hrs it takes to make it doesn't.

I saw you were a chef in another thread - nice! Sometimes a big bowl of unsweetened cereal with whole milk is enough to make me happy. Easier to clean up after as well. Reading posts here or scanning YouTube while I do so in between gaming sessions.

Pomodoro is easy to make.

Spoiler

4 large tomatoes cut into quarters, one peeled carrot, 1 rib of celery with the leaves, one red or purple onion, a few (maybe 5) fresh basil leaves, red pepper flakes, coarse salt and good quality olive oil.  Preheat the oven to 400f (200c).  In a shallow roasting pan (or baking sheet) arrange the cut tomatoes skin side down.  Cut the carrot, celery and onion into pieces roughly the same size and add them to the tomatoes.  Be sure everything is in one layer and distributed so they'll cook evenly.  In order, sparingly drizzle the olive oil, then sprinkle with the salt, then the pepper flakes, then hand tear the basil (never cut basil with a knife) and toss the leaves on top.  Bake for 20-25 minutes.  Let rest in the pan 10 minutes.  The tomatoes and onions should be soft and there should also be some liquid in the bottom of the pan.

In a blender or food processor, pulse the vegetables and pan juices several times until they are a smooth liquid.  Over a large bowl, pour the mixture into a wire sieve and work it in with a spoon.  Discard any coarse pulp.

The sauce in the bowl is a basic tomato sauce.  Most likely it will be orange, not red.  That is normal.  If you want the sauce alla Napoletana add an extra sprig of basil and a drizzle of olive oil to the blender/processor before pulsing.

This is a good Summer sauce because you can get everything fresh and it's light.  It's also dirt cheap to make.

Beavis and Butthead is coming back for two seasons. Free of the shackles of MTV with Mike Judge still fully in charge. Warms my Gen X heart.

Just please don't let Mike screw it up (or his new Comedy Central overlords deciding to backpedal on the hands off approach they supposedly promised him)....

Never laughed so hard in my entire fucking life.

It only took around 30 minutes just like many this fine furious fellow thought that it would. That is to be expected after bringing mayor Jenny-ass into the fray directly rather than allow her to remain safe and detached from the situation with her private security detail.

Hiking in forests and exploring the nature makes me really happy. You´re just away from everything for a while and get to have some time to think and relax. No people complaining over random things or wearing facemasks everywhere i go. I wish i could do it more often.

I like hiking near mountain rivers, they sing to me.

Well this 4th of July was certainly apeshit. Its been non-stop amateur firework displays since about 8 pm. There hasn't been even a few seconds of quiet between the booms in all directions. And its still going. Its kind of glorious honestly.

I pitched in by deploying a Little John. That old Simpsons quote is very fitting: we celebrated the anniversary of country's independence by blowing up a small chunk of it?

Yeah sounds like a machine gun going off in my town to.  It's encouraging really, it makes me realize, "Hmm...there are more ACTUAL PATRIOTS than these. "woke," regressive left wastes of oxygen."  To be fair; I'd say about 97.5% to 99.8% of my hometowns population is almost NOTHING but Armed Forces, VoFW and Retired War Veterans...all of whom are EXTREMELY PATRIOTIC.  Almost to a point of being fanatical in some areas.  Lol..just wish people would be more careful with the fireworks (last year we had some poor bastard get his thumb blown off because he was holding the Black Jack down with it while he set it off; some people are sometimes to drunk and stupid to be allowed to mess with things stuffed with gun powder ?).

I wasn't talking about Viacom. I was talking about their underlings running MTV that retooled it to be a reality TV network after the 90s then chose to squat on their share of the rights of B&B despite having little interest in creating new episodes (sans the brief revival in 2011).

(summarizing)

Beavis and Butthead was awesome, propane and propane accessories aren't.

simpsons, sat-night-live died many years ago in my head they just sort of hang around like those green people you say have rights.

I had to look up your acronyms.

I don't care much for politics (brushing it aside) are they paid or on a mission from god to insinuate themselves into *every* conversation?

I like my game, it makes me happy (that's where we are, right?)

and "Bush Baked Beans"

and feeling like a grizzled old camper when I open a can (I still eat from a disposable bowl, I'm not *that* into campy fetishes)

and I dream someday I'll win the lottery and actually *go* to Greece, which is bigger than *Texas*, if you believe the game.

Yeah, People do, people protest, and then there's the ones sitting there dissing them.

and then there's the ones tearing down whatever the others stood for.

Yeah "Assassin's Creed" is pretty political but I avoid all that.

Kill, make love, sail somewhere.

You're  all fucked!! I'm coming for you (o wait, they're all dead, a mod helped)

Thank places like this for mods!

And the rest is weeds, noise.

I'm not talking about viacom either. Their HQ is literally the same three floors in the same building.

Fixed that, lol. :classic_wink:

Holy hell, I'm playing through another game of mass effect 3, but this time with the EGM mod and all its addons.  They have added several playable missions and a shit ton of other things. Then throw in the dreams mod that changes those silly dreams into nightmares of the reapers and damn!!!  This game is really fucking awesome.  I'm also playing with the happy ending mod, so I have that to look forward to as well.  I'm not sure this game could get too much better.  Wow.  I'm loving it!
