What really pisses you off? please no posts about nexus lol

Long time ago I turned off the amber alert on my phone only because the beeping and ringing can really add up to be annoying not because I'm an insensitive bastard. I mean I am but that is besides the point. I got an amber alert anyway and I'm thinking seriously? Checked my settings. Amber alert off. Bullshit!

I wonder if this would still happen if it were an app you can delete. Guess we may never know.

Hours of my life gone because of a simple syntax error. Fuck me.

I could say the same, but not complain, because i get paid by the hour ?

Even so, fucking legacy technology my work is stuck on!

Can't i start coding in .Net 5?

That would be cool.

Or at least less horrible.

I think.

Geo-blocked content. Saw a pornstar I really wanted to see more of and got the message "Payments from your country are not accepted".- forcing me to use a workaround to open an account. Is my internet access anything like other people's from a different region? I kind of doubt it now.

We get "selective" internet access based on a growing list of things. Censor much do we?

Games that are marked as sexual content are blocked for Germans since December.

Because some government agency from Hamburg finally realised that Steam's age verification process isn't robust so minors can easily access and buy these games, they just have to lie about their age when asked by Steam.

Which means that the statement in the screenshot is a bold lie to shift the blame away from them and that makes me even madder than the fact itself.

Right now I don't know if I will be able to actually play Subverse, a game I supported on Kickstarter. And my Steam wishlist that I frequently check for sales offers got a bit shorter too.

I'm not mad at the gubbernmint people from Hamburg btw, but at Steam for lazily blocking these games for everybody here and pissing off their German users instead of finally implementing some sort of age verification system. But maybe they are working on it, at least I hope so. If not I will take my games buying business to GoG, they don't offer any sexual content anyway and they have many of the same games that are sold on Steam.

Also they didn't piss me off so far.

Fuck you Steam! ?

Juggling multiple NPC replacers, think I got everything working together... than, by chance, I find some blackface'd nobody that I'd never see again. ?

Edit: It was a fucking weapon mod...

Yep. One of the banes of my life is mods which have no reason to touch any NPCs go ahead and make changes without anything being mentioned in the mod description.

I had a roommate in university. One day, when I returned from class, I discovered that he had eaten the creme filling from the oreos...and put the two cookie halves back.

I will loathe that man until the universe implodes. And if the universe rebirths itself from implosion, I hope his atoms are rearranged into a clothes hanger. One of those flimsy plastic ones that hold shit nobody wants at the very back of the clothing rack.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his bed.

Well the mod adds unique weapons to named NPC's so I kind of get it...

It ended up being LOOT arranging mods stupidly, but shit took way to long to figure out on my end.

I thought Germany only hated the penetration of minors in media. If parents are so worried about their BABIES watching porn they should really pay attention to what their kids watch and not the store in question.?

That said good parental controls is standard business practice but some of it is going to slip regardless which it has for eons. I would like to say I have no stakes in this but I have the opposite problem where steam won't stop asking me whether I want to see 18+ content. I thought I turned that "feature" off dammit!?

That's not how it worked when I was a kid and it certainly is not in the age of 2 income households.

Parents pay attention, it's just that their kids have more free time than them. So what are they supposed to do? Lock them out of the internet while they aren't there to supervise and not buy them gaming PCs til they are ... I dunno ... 16?

That supervision might be more damaging to the kid than the sickest porn they can find online.

And why 16 you ask? I think waiting til 18 is a little ridiculous when it comes to exposure to fringe porn. That's something that I would say is negotiable.

Steam has child safety measures in place in its client though, completely forgot about that. I guess parents could already make it somewhat safe as it is.

So it seems to be more of a problem with strict German laws for purchasing stuff, less with the features that Steam offers.

...

Otoh I was pretty crafty as a kid when trying to circumvent the boundaries my parents set up. I imagine kids today are as well.

Like why not just log out and create a new Steam account, then buy porn games and other R18 stuff?

And if that's impossible with the family safety measures then try deleting the whole thing and maybe some folder(s) under Appdata and then reinstall?

Can't do that if you don't have admin rights though.

But seriously, do we really expect a lot of parents to be educated enough about computers to know how to make this shit safe for their children?

edit:

But setting up a new Steam account wouldn't give them access to the games without a credit card. And I wouldn't give a kid a credit card, at least not in the age range where I would try to keep the content in question away from them. So I guess it's really more a problem with German laws. As usual ^^

I'm still pissed at Steam for choosing to do this the easy way. Either they come around or they will lose me as a customer. Can't change conservative politicians and laws over night, but Steam could easily add age verification for certain games instead of just removing them from the store.

And that's exactly what we are doing.

And that's why I don't need any interference of an idiotic webshop to help me decide what's "suitable" content or "sexual" content  :classic_angry:

I will admit there is some risk when it comes to finding reliable babysitters but I can't help but laugh at terrible parents or really anything terrible. Watching some ten year old enter a movie theater with their parents to see Deadpool shishkabob people is fucking hilarious. Nothing bad will ever come of that. Nope.

It is pretty easy to find 18+ content on the internet but some people are so daft it is just funny. Yeah sure steam is lazy and everybody knows it but laughing at sloths is well. You know what sure we'll go with sure. Steam needs to step up its business to compete with other online stores popping up anyway. I'm just hoping whatever system they come up with isn't too inconvenient for people like me who don't give a damn what age it is meant for.

I had a similar experience at a friend's place. His youngster was watching Deadpool. The little guy did know the Amazon Prime code for mature content (I think it was on Amazon Prime) for some reason and bragged about it to me. Now I didn't say anything and just watched the movie with him for a little while. He was joyfully watching the shishkabob scene with Deadpool jumping from the bridge inside the car with the baddies and then slaughtering them. And tbh I don't think anything bad will come of that, the movie is so over the top and comic book like in its depiction of violence that this is probably not traumatising or in any way formative for him.

But then the sex scene started, you know, the one with the beautiful Morena Baccarin. ?

Boy did he get grossed out and switch off the movie quickly.?

That shit was hilarious. Also had to tell his dad to better not to let him play GTAV unsupervised because there are strip clubs, killing spree rewards and stuff like that.

So yeah, some parents are sloths. ^^

The little guy was 9 btw.

I used to work as a CTO at a porn company, so I can add my 2 cents.

Those restrictions are usually coming not from the site itself, by from the card processor it uses. The porn industry is like an ugly child in the e-business family - no one likes it. They pay the highest fee to the processing companies (up to 15% or even higher), and if their refund ratio goes above a rather low threshold - they lose their merchant account, with all money on it. And if the online processor won't impose those restrictions - Visa and MC will impose on them sooner or later, with a huge club. A lot of nazi-style regulations all around, so this measure with blocking some countries could be 15-20 years old, kept "just in case, better be safe than sorry" and than forgot about.

I'm fairly certain most of the people blowing up my inbox despite the statement "my fetish is absolutely not giving a fuck about your fetish" aren't even kind of old enough to be posting here and the shit they ask for/of or in reference from GMod/Unreal shit I did a decade ago belies that.

GoG is where I bought Lula the Sex Empire (an old game from the 90s I think).   It is about building a porn business.    However, I got it a few years ago, before the world went stupid.
