We waited and waited for one to open for years here. Now I can't wait for it to close because I hate the people there. Idiots didn't even know what the hell they were selling and I had to point it out for them on their own fucking site last time I was there.
gregathit Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 LOL! I went into a Gamestop once, saw that they were charging $20 more for a game I wanted, but I could get it a week before it came out in other stores. After 2 seconds of thought, I left the store empty handed and never came back. 1
Daedric_Cat Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I remember Gamestop from my bad old console days. Fun times! They don't even understand da master pc race.
MrEsturk Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 All this rambling about Gamestop makes me miss my childhood days when the equivalent was various mall stores like Babbages and Software Etc. All of which at one time in my life were competing stores with competing selection and prices. And had their own unique themes/layouts. Babbages in the 80s always had tons of fun little demos in their stores as well. Sadly all the internet stock photos of those store chains I could find come from the 2000s, long after they were all acquired by a single mega-corporation owner and slowly stripped of their soul. All the online Babbages stock photos look like a damn Gamestop. So my memories are stuck being just that: memories? 2

After 2 seconds of thought, I left the store empty handed and never came back. As a PC user starting in the 90's, I really enjoyed my shopping trips to the stores that carried software. 2-3 Aisles FULL of media which I could pick up, and carefully read the back for detailed information. No video reviews, or other info available today. I had to use my intuition, user knowledge, and 'gut' to make a purchase. Watching the decline in the following years broke my heart. Less and less media would be on the shelves, with it going from a few aisles to an aisle 'end-cap' or a single pegboard section. This is when I started using Steam heavily - so worried they would eventually fail as well and then I wouldn't even have a physical copy to fall back on. Lucky for me Gabe made so much money I feel Steam will out-live me, and in the end, that's all that matters to me concerning my 'ghost' software. 5
Yinkle Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 My gaming fun started with the ZX Spectrum 48k around 1983. They were distributed on cassette tapes back then and living in a rural community with no internet (not even invented yet) it was tough to get them. My pals and I used to put our tape recorders next to each other and press play on one and record on the other. Rather than all of us buying the same game this made more sense, old school pirating! The games were amazing though and had us glued to the screen for hours on end. 3
KoolHndLuke Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Wow! Even Joe seems confused as to why anybody in their right mind is voting for the left. His latest campaign ad asks quote "Why are you voting Blue?". On a more serious note, Victor Davis Hanson on what's actually at stake with this election: And don't think for a second if these people take over that you will be unaffected. This site and ones like it for instance will be GONE. 3

Sounds like my old Sims 3 mod archive which is actually in worse shape because after I opened zip files to access the mods I just tossed them in a backup folder for archival purposes. Problem is 99% of them have no names, just numbers like 94145730. I have to be really bored to open each and every one to figure out what to rename them. >>>>Thinking about how many neighbors in this building I live in have come and gone. I've been here over 15 years, because I was 'grandfathered' in when the new owner bought it 10 years ago and I'll never find another place to live as cheaply as I do now. I only know the names of one apt.'s residents as they've been here for several years - I couldn't name any of the others (of the 9 apt.s in this building). It's like sitting on a bench watching the world go by...... If someone stays for over a year, I may get around to knowing them, but it isn't important because the only time anyone knocks on my door is if they want something. The old days of social visits seem long gone. 2

I don't drink, so I masturbate instead. Speaking of which, I decided to completely rebuild my Oblivion setup, while going through my mods that I saved, I noticed I have some really old files of LL on there, one of which is the old Lovers PK before LAPF, circa 2013. I now have to wade through all that.. fun times. Damn mod folder is over 100GB uncategorized. I just dumped them all in there. So as I rebuild, I will be organizing them. Fun times ahead. At least I won't be doing much YT News watching, which will help. That's odd. I never get beer ads. I get grooming product ads, be they for pets or for humans or music advertisements (often containing language harsher than is allowed in the videos they play during if they want to keep their monetization). Perhaps the approach is an attempt at targeted ads or perhaps it is completely scattershot and all of the ads are played randomly. Perhaps it is both, first random, then they gradually pared down the number of ads based upon reaction to the ads, be it thumbs up, thumbs down, skipping the video or letting it play all the way through. It could be based on the videos which one watches. If one watches involving animals commonly kept a pets by humans (standard version and anthropomorphic ones alike), one may get video for pet care products. If one watches videos primarily watched by adults, one may get beer ads.

I get a ton of beer/alcohol ads along with insurance and cellphones, with a few being of a medical variety (arthritis, blood pressure, etc). I do get a rare ad of a video game, but the others outpace those. Mostly, what I watch (post-COVID), is news networks, with a bit more streamlined political shows like Timcast. I used to watch a lot of other channels like YongYea, so that could be why the game ads are rarer than they used to be. Here I thought that they wanted everyone to be drunk and get a new car+insurance. I have no idea what I am doing right, but I don't see any ads. I am using Firefox so nothing like a browser. All I get is a blank screen then after a few seconds a "skip ad." Given my yt history, I would not be surprised if it is an ad for Spinal Tap's "Smell the Glove" album. KoolHndLuke Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Went ahead and checked out one of those sites that advertises interactive porn just to see. Total scam. What they showed was just click bait and the actual content they offered was worse than some games I've picked up for almost nothing on Steam/Patreon.

FauxFurry Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 I was thinking about recurring patterns in history and how they relate to the works of George Orwell and Robert Crumb (most notably how "Mister Snoid: I once Led the Life of a Millionaire" can be seen repeating today with fake news put out by bored rich white people accidentally kicking off a Collegiate Communist Cadre revolution which uses African-Americans whom they claim to be oh-so-concerned about as their shock troopers) but then I wound up distracted by this: Now I have to wonder if certain furry artists who went mainstream such as ShowKaiser had any hand in Tawna's redesign here. 2

Maybe I'm just old and jaded, but I could tell exactly what those were without clicking on them. BTW, I used to watch YouTube without AdBlocker, but it's gotten so bad lately that until they figure out how to 'block me for using it' although I AM logged in, I'll continue to use it. Sorry to content creators - but their Master has become an asshole. I quit watching TV over 15 years ago because ads, and then content has gotten so pathetic. I either watch movies, or binge stream Cable series with no advertising. I don't need advertisers raising the price of things I pay for which I see on a shelf every time I walk down an aisle. Do they think they are influencing my decisions? Nope - Like Watto: "mind tricks don't work on me, only money". If I buy premium, it's because I prefer it, not because it costs more due to advertising budgets...... 30 minutes ago, FauxFurry said: Now I have to wonder if certain furry artists who went mainstream such as ShowKaiser had any hand in Tawna's redesign here. While I'm not 'hip' to the whole furry controversy, Thanks for posting this. Looks great but I'm still not getting a console - I can live vicariously through other peoples experiences. It's kind of funny to watch something I would consider more for kids being narrated by people whom sound like they could be news reporters in a mainstream job. Spoiler 1
