Coopervane Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 But that doesn't change the fact that these people put time into making something and have every right to ask to be paid. So did the developers of Bad Rats, Revelations 2012, Desert Gunner, Shannon Tweed's attack of the groupies, Day one: Garry's incident, The War-Z and a host of other such.... things, currently or previously for sale on Steam. Just because someone spent time on something, does not automatically mean that it's a product worthy of sale, or even that it's ethical to try and sell it in the first place.
Hayleyrose2323 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Got a reply from Gopher on one of my comments, not sure if im in the wrong anymore, bleh wasnt really thinkin straight. Ima just go away for a while this shit is crazy You do know that the Gopher isn't god? Actually no idea what you wrote, but a personal conviction is, well, personal. (You never know you may be right - it's a long shot and totally meaningless in the scheme of things, but still.....). Oh I know. I do admit I was a big fan and probably too much, I had honestly thought he of all people/modders would have been instantly like NOPE, but guess not. I replied to someone elses comment pretty much saying that some modders were also to blame, since they had willingly decided to go along with it. And perhaps I missworded what I meant. Hayley Rose 1:34 PM +Xilandro Some modders are also to blame unfortunately, not just the companies. Gopher 1:51 PM +Hayley Rose No, they are not. And this comment is a sign of what is wrong with this conversation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a person trying to make a living in a legal manner. Nothing. There are many things wrong with the new system, but the mod makers are not part of that equation. Hayley Rose 2:02 PM +Gopher It is when they are trying to make a living off of something as mods. The whole idea of it is just absurd. The mod makers are to blame just as much as the company. Why? Because they chose to go with it. They chose to go ahead and put there mods up there. Of course though this comes into the area of do you think making money off of mods is wrong or not, but it seems your pretty set on what side your on here. We make mods to add to a game for fun. For people to just download and have fun. But I guess that just doesn't exist anymore, right? I also could have misread what he meant too, i do that sometimes, its one of my worst flaws actually x.x Hell for all i know i could be wrong lol, i dunno.
Chaos63 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Here, the official word from the SKSE team No need to worry. Officially SKSE (and all of our other Script Extenders) will remain FREE to use for everyone. We will not charge anyone for it. Ever. Creators of mods which depend upon SKSE must make their own choices regarding whether to ask for payment for their mods. We will not receive any partial payment from those sales. Reasons for #2 and #3: See #1. http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1516811-discussion-for-workshop-paid-mods-thread-3/page-3?do=findComment&comment=23943101 Ah. Yeah, we're good.
Erundil Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Has isoku bailed out too? This is what I see when I click on W&C in SW: isokubailedout.PNG If im not wrong it is on all paid mods. Steam got cold feet? Either that, or someone DDOSed the server with paid mods... But the most probable scenario is that they finally noticed, how you can get paid mods for free with 24h refund, so they hold the sales until the issue is patched.
Zor2k13 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Beth won't even have to hire writers anymore just let the paid modders write everything besides the main storyline and charge for it. They couldn't do any worse than the writers for dark brotherhood quest and other crap quests could they?

Kendo 2 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Bethesda listens the community, right? Right! They might just be testing the waters to see how people react. That way, when they release their next modable game all of their bullshit will already be in place and when they stall the release of the construction set (like they did for Skyrim) people who've already bought the game in hopes of modding and having mods will be fucked. We'll be stuck with a game and modding it with their restrictions prepacked.
Zor2k13 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 A game like that is not worth playing more than once really.
Rayblue Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Unless they reverse or scrape the whole scheme completely to recoup their PR losses, in the next E3 the greeting Beth, Zeni and Valve would be getting from the crowd are nothing but BOOOOOOOOOOOOs.

Ok, lets just give them the new game, then the development environment but tie them under license to our distribution platform. (with quotes about anti-piracy/social friendly/think of the children type stuff to justify their actions). (actually that's what you said. You are a wise and furry monkey or something - It's Friday, and....)
Zor2k13 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Even better just don't go to their event, leave empty chairs in there not a single person goes in there and see what that does.

Kinky Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 "I wont pay for mods" is what everyone should think. So that whole idea fails.
Nixea Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I vote for Ofan Zey Kerf (give me coin) to become a modded shout that causes the target NPC's in a set area to give you all the septims or jewerly they carry on them. Each word of power would add a bit more range and a higher probability of getting even more valuable loot.
nutluck Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Looks like all the pay mods no long work, as in if you click on a pay mod it says you can't get to that page. That is happening with all the pay mods I have tried. So maybe Valve has changed their minds on it and took them all down. Or maybe the store is having issues.
Erundil Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Even better just don't go to their event, leave empty chairs in there not a single person goes in there and see what that does. You've certainly never heard about hired attendance. You can pay some people to come. Make photos and videos of the meeting, then upload them and brag about how many ppl came. This is a common practice. Especially politicians love to use it. I totally think going there en masse and "booo"-ing them to hell would work better.
...0... Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Bethesda includes on my BAN list of companies, unless they reverse this shit i wont buy ANY GAME from them anymore like with EA and Ubisoft. Steam hanging on thread for me even tho i have 33 games on steam im on the verge of BAN them also. GOG.COM im yours
Zor2k13 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Yeah they could have thought about this for E3 and hired some people. So any resistance should be outside the event like when workers go on strike and anyone that goes to work is boooed and called a scab. A bunch of people need to be outside streaming to a bunch of sites boooing bugfesta and valve then taking pics of anyone that walks in there. Make a big HUGE stink about it outside so whatever happens inside becomes irrelevant.

I do like his non specific northern type voice, (I suspect Cheshire, but not sure). Mine is a horrible mishmash of esturion/barr'a boy with a mismash of yorkshire, (i.e. horrible). Anyway I've never over the years heard him do anything other than straight PC - unless you talk about him picking up about dialect and pronunciation - which isn't at this time counted as racist. I do like him because if I can't get to sleep and don't want to listen to Old Harrys Games/Revolting People/American Gods/any Lawerence Block book, he is really good. (Mind he is an actual true coder, so will stand up for him whatever - well unless I actually had to work with him).

Erundil Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 That's too bad. I was really hoping for Valve's reaction. Not hacker's.
