I would not recommend to change the login to only allow Email Adresses, while not care before.

I never needed nor cared about the Email Adresse which is connected to LL. In the beginning I didn't trust this site. So I used a Throw-Away Mail Adresse.

In the current format my old account is lost. Not because I lost my password and can't retrieve it (which would suck but be my bad), but because I can't Login whith my accountname despite doing so for years.
Was this communicate somewhere? Somewhere obviously? Otherwise this is a bad move. I hope it gets made undone.

Same. And unfortunately, I have had things happen that stored passwords get messed up and I am locked out of sites I have been on for years. I was locked out of Mod The Sims for months because I couldn't remember which password I used, and upper case letters, punctuation mark... Then the 3 tries and you are locked out for the day or whatever, as if MTS holds the nuclear football codes or something! OY!

 

Too many sites have become this way. I have a mother. I do not need the website (not here yet) to tell me my password is not good enough. Must be 37 characters, no more or less, contain 3 upper case letters, a ?, 2 other symbols and some emoji from the list they provide! Then the security questions... Hmmmm... maybe this should go on the rant thread??? ?

Right click -> Inspect (for edit mode) -> change the type "email" back to "text" for the field. Now you can use your Username for login like before.

Same here - the only reason I got back in was because I was still logged in on another machine and could go check which damned email I used.

 

I haven't looked at my account settings since I join up and that must be 8 years+ ago. 0/10 would not recommend.

I have two bugs to report:

 

- I uploaded a file last night and the progress bar did not show any change (using Chrome on Windows 10). I left it running out of curiosity and the file was loaded but eventhing showed that nothing was happening.

 

- on mobile, selecting a private message topic only takes you to the first post.. not to the most recent or last unread.

It happens again. When I close FF even if I am logged in LL, if I was watching my Blog entry, when I open the site again I have to press "My activities", then "View my profile" so that I would be able to get to other rooms on the site. The site doesn't automatically return me to opened blog entry before closing FF or the "Forum" main site or to "My profile" on reopening. Can it be something done about it?

Well.. All that remains is for me to thank our admin and moderators of LoversLab for acting in the best interest of the LL's community.?? Tweaking the level of security is an important thing looking at the increasing frequency of cyber-attacks on user accounts. (especially the banking ones). I am very satisfied with the implementation of so many changes that have improved the comfort of use and added some cool gadgets to this website.?
By the way, I would ask you to come up with some alternative solution for people who can't log into their accounts via e-mail.☹️ For example.. You could verify some users by their fixed IP or by their accounts on social networks and such.?

OUCH!   I'd be wary of the social networks.  Facebook hacks do occur, and I am aware of an individual whose FB account was not only hacked, but ransomed for $500 while the hacker contacted 'friends' for financial help.  Does Facebook help one get their account back?  Nope, not unless you have a paid/upgraded Facebook Business account.

 

As to IP address, it could be an alternative assuming the member doesn't change services, or the address isn't in an IP range blocked containing "Known Spam Sources".

Sure! Cyberattacks are not only targeting the bank accounts of so-called, big shots (I mean e.g: politicians, officials)
You're right! My concept about social networking may fail. Some users include in their descriptions, links leading to their microbloggings and image hosting services.? Twitter, Flickr.. Maybe try it this way.?

Forgot the email I signed up with, tried the one I thought I had used and got a "your account has been locked, try again in 29 minutes". OK no problem, I failed the captcha too many times and I'm on a VPN so maybe some security service flagged me. Waited 30 minutes, tried again, same thing. Waited 4 hours, tried again, same thing.

 

Eventually realized I had used a different email. Maybe should give a more descriptive error message, so people know they are using the wrong email, not that their account is locked.

Ok, so now I can't log in OR recover my account. I can't log in because I'm not interested in giving a porn site anything other than a throwaway email, and I can't even begin to recover it, because even if it was an email that I remembered and/or still had access to, I can't even send a recovery email to the user name to then go and check them all.

 

I have several small mods on here that I don't care about all that much, but it might be nice to be able to update them. What's my recourse? My old PC died of lightning damage yesterday, incidentally.

I was shocked when I had to log in using my email address instead of my username. I would rather keep the user name as a login as it’s less of a hassle.

If you can't access your account because you don't know your login email, send me a PM on a throwaway account or message on Discord with your username and some kind of information that will help me verify the account is yours and I'll tell you what the email address is.
