I've had two cats (out of maybe 200) that had 'the cat aids'.  One was a tabby tom who probably got it from fighting.  That was in the early 90's.  The other was a cat I rescued that was never around other cats aside from her litter mates.  She never went to the vet, had vaccinations or was otherwise exposed to anything.  Aside from the first 3 weeks of her life she stayed inside as the pampered princess and was the only cat.  At age 12 she took a hard downturn so I took her in.  The $300 worth of blood work showed FIP and this was in 2009, WAY before coronavirus hysteria.  Vet's hypothesis; she contracted it in utero and it took that long to manifest.

Thanks. I did read it's possible to get it from the mom, but this one's definitely got it from fighting, I think, there's always at least one stray sniffing around, testing the perimeter.

She's back home now, looking good after a few days on an IV and enjoying the attention. A bit worried that she'll be pining for the outside soon though.

IMO. let her at it unless you think she'd infect other cats.  IF she's facing the inevitable then give her what she wants.  Now I'm sad for a cat I don't know.

yesterday is the 15th anniversary of getting kidnapped lol i feel more like shit for this whole month every year. and it's my birth month so birthdays are depressing. i also might have something physically wrong with my brain now, but my neuro doesn't seem to think it's an emergency which is good! my pupils are uneven, one of them is normal and reacts to light as it should while the other (my right eye, which is the same side as my most deteriorated hearing) is always slightly dilated and doesn't respond to light normally. this causes weird double-vision (lights look like they do when you're wearing those christmas light glasses to make things sparkle) and leads my doctor to believe it may not be linked to a side effect of medication like i thought, as in the cases of people who experienced it on certain medications (only about 3 cases ever reported), their eyes responded to light evenly. i'm getting an MRI next week, my doctor doesn't seem to think it's an acute emergency since i'm not displaying any severe symptoms of aneurysm, so he feels okay to wait a week, but he wants to rule out any potential aneurysm. i really hope that's not the case. 

 

in good news though, because i don't like to leave things on a bad note, i'm getting some eagerly awaited skulls in the mail today! it's also potentially going to storm again today, which i'm happy about. storms are so energizing and comforting... except when they're tornadoes or hurricanes. i went back in time the past few days, watching Destination Truth, that one show from the late 2000's about this group of ppl that travel around the world in search of monsters and overreact to literally everything. i used to adore that show when i was younger, same with ghost hunters lol, so i've been having a bit of a throwback to those which is fun.

About those issues, I have a friend who had a cancerous tumor to her brain, the growing mass impaired her capacities on one side similarly to how you've described in the early days of her suspecting something. I'm not a physician myself, mind you, but maybe that'd be worthy an option to keep in mind.

don't worry, you haven't hurt anyone! i don't like to revisit the details, especially not now, but i'll say sex slavery/trafficking has never been a thing of fiction, even today despite its glorification here lol. it's a very different situation when it's not a willing slave/master dynamic... and also when it's a child who doesn't understand any of it. i was just 8, and they did some really unspeakable things to film and share. i spent my 9th birthday there. they also leaked my home address at the time, which led to attacks later in life. i was there for about a month i think. it really destroyed me mentally. i now have a severe mental illness that has no cure, one that means i'm not allowed to have a driver's license, as well as chronic pain through my life. i have other problems that will never go away but can be managed better, but it's a long roads to get there. they really ruined my ability to ever lead a normal life. i'm just lucky enough to have survived, and to mostly have support after it.

in terms of the brain, a mass is also a consideration my doctor was looking for. the MRI will show anything wrong, so i'm hoping it's something that can be resolved easily! thank you for bringing that up

i actually display my collection of animal parts! i keep each animal's parts close to each other, such as my new coyote skull is paired with my old coyote teeth, deer teeth and coffin bones are together, my raccoon skull, vertebrae and baculum are all together, stuff like that! i take a moment every day to honor the animals. i'm kinda weird, if i eat meat i also take a moment to honor the animal that died for it first. i'm not super fixated on rare skulls and bones, i just take care of the ones found in nature!

 

also destination truth is fun and they've actually made some progress in decrypting the bhutan yeti, unlike a lot of shows in a similar vein. ghost hunters is great too, their overreactions are just hilarious. it's just so much fun to watch if you're interested in ghosts and cryptids!

sex slavery mods are a way for people to indulge that powerful fantasy, or to experience it in a game lol. but it's very real and it's a horrifying situation to be in, when you're the truly powerless one taken against your will.

and ngl your whole animal part collection sounds very cool ! it might be a bit creepy, but in the end it's kinda like a mix bewteen a biologist and an artist, sampling bones and amdiring them for their style ! i'm not really into collecting animal bones, but i always find it cool when i see some, there's also some investigation thrill like "yeah it has been devoured by some predator, you can see why there". or just looking at the bone shapes, it's very interesting when you knwo the beast it came from

i appreciate this a lot, thank you  it was something that scarred me horribly but at the end of the day it is my duty to my loved ones to keep going! so i always try my best, to be happy and to stay safe

i adore animals and i believe no part of an animal should ever go to waste, and if that means perching random ribs or small bones i find on my display area, they still get love and affection because i take very good care of them  you’re literally right about the artist/biologist stuff though lol i’ve been taking anatomical art classes which involve a lot of skeletons and i looooooove drawing bones. so literally lol. it’s fun to identify them! but there is that investigation thrill, you start wondering where it came from and how it got to be bones in the woods.
