I suppose so but I live in a 'first world country' in asia and girls who have sex get slut shamed and bullied and called names. Oh, that changes things entirely. Even the USA, which is seen as being super Liberal was founded by Puritans. Extra marital sex, pre-marital sex, public displays of affection, use of pornography and overt signs of sexual interest (not even arousal, just interest) were all highly illegal, resulting in prison time for anyone caught committing these crimes until the 20th Century.

Expecting other nations which had similar restrictive sexual mores for millennia to change overnight if at all might just because the USA and parts of Europe have be a bit overly optimistic.

If it is enough of a problem, legal immigration to another nation is always an option (well, almost always).

Yep. Just gonna do as well as I can to get out of the country I'm in. We have a huge puritian christian population ( like a fifth) and an equal muslim population that always stir shit with our non religious/LGBT community.

 

Like they live according to religious law, its freaky. I know a mennonite man next to me who has 3 wives and 13 children. Probably an exception but he yells at my family (not christian) every sunday to go to church.

Smoking helps to keep folk with narcolepsy awake, but smoking was also doing me no good whatsoever so I changed to a vape pen.  After a couple of weeks my worrying cough was gone and I was breathing a lot better.  Months later it's like I never smoked at all and nicotine is still helping me to stay awake.  Cigarettes where I live cost just over a dollar each (last time I bothered to check) and my vape pen plus all it's accessories cost me less that two packets of smokes.

A few months back I tried a cigarette again and it was like somebody was pushing a smokey brush fire down my throat.  I can't believe I actually smoked these things for years and never again.

As for all the tendy poser shit around vape pens it just makes me want to vomit down the front of their trendy poser (faux) designer clothing.

With the smoking to stop would be my Dead, Nicotine keeps me alive.
my grandmother has become 104 years old, she smoked a pack of cigarettes every day and she drank a glass of schnapps every day. 
In germany, the prices are not that high, usually a 20s Pack, 6-10 euros.

I read an article sometime where a group of monks that all smoked were interviewed and given physicals. Their ages ranged from about fifty and up and all admitted they had smoked most of their lives. None of them showed any signs of smoking related illnesses and all were in good physical shape according to the study. I was just telling my uncle the other day that it's the side-smoke that fucks you up. That's why I smoke pipe tobacco- because it goes out after a minute instead of continuing to burn and fill the room with smoke. That and it's much cheaper than buying a pack every day or two. I tried smoking a marlboro a few weeks ago and it hit me like a ton of bricks. They put a lot of shit in those things.

you have detected it very well, that dangerous is, we say in Germany for that "cold smoke", inhale smoke from others.
a very good friend died of lung cancer when he was 50 years old although he never smoked.
He worked with people who were all smokers in an office, when smoking was still allowed in public buildings.
I personally never smoke in my apartment, I go to the terrace or into my garden, even in the car is absolute smoking ban for me, although I smoke over 20 cigarettes every day.

Today's "hypergamy" and "lookism" and other things that the manosphere complain about come from when rating women 1 -10 became popular in the 70's. Shit tends to go around and come around. Reminds me of a basement dwelling 400+ pound  loser who worked at IBM when I did, would look down at any woman who didn't look as good at the Hooter's girls he had tipped generously to have photos of taken of himself with them. It's a proven fact that second hand, third hand smoke is more deadly than the often filtered smoke that the smoker inhales. I nearly died from a rare form of pneumonia when I was a kid. Now they have determined that third hand smoke is often a cause for that kind of pneumonia, as well as a few other problems my brother and I had as kids. Our parents were heavy smokers, especially my mother who refused to smoke outside. #buteverythingcausescancer and romanticizing smoking is bullshit. It's not fun living for 3 months in an oxygen tent.

even when I was younger and newlywed, we never smoked in the apartment.
When a child was scheduled, my wife stopped smoking three months earlier, she did not smoke until after the nursing time again.
my two adult sons are non-smokers.

I love communicating through writing, because in real life I'm a tactless twat that doesn't think before he speaks. I've been binge watching the Big Bang theory and the dissing, the short jokes and the sexual innuendo's are something that's crept up with me. Or be more selective of your internet surfing, In all my years, even time spent in rural Tennessee, I've never seen a place or knew anyone who required prayer at work. In fact, that is the first time I have heard of such a thing. In many places you are not allowed to pray! I don't know a single anti-vaxxer and their stuff is hard to find even on the internet. You would have to go to a church to find an actual creationist- they are not that common.

Well, I browse reddit a lot, maybe the stuff there is a bit skewed. My only real world experience with the US was very positive though, spent 2 weeks on a road trip from Chicago (love that city! fantastic architecture and layout, nice waterfront) to Toronto (ok, not US, but love it even more! especially the club scene and the lake shore) to New York and Washington. New York was just confusing and not that impressive after the first 2 cities, except for the sheer demonstration of power that was the new WTC and the city's size. This place is way too big for a 2 to 3 days visit, didn't get to see more than Manhattan (ridiculous amount of Germans on Times Square ?). And Washington was both awe inspiring and ridiculous at the same time with its hero worshipping monuments and gigantomaniac classicist architecture. But I guess my European sentiment gets in the way of properly appeciating it, we don't really like pomp over here.

Can't think of even one bad encounter, from the bums in Chicago (they rip you off with some tall tale, but they are mighty friendly while doing it) to some old lady at the laundromat at the Finger Lakes (why did she have a southern accent?) to some rich drunk guy I met in a pub in Washington who threatened to grab the live musician's guitar (apparantly a buddy of his) and play/butcher some Pink Floyd songs, everyone was chill and very friendly.

 

But then I go online and read all that backwards stuff and I'm not sure if the real world encounters I had were mostly a facade. Everyone is nice to tourists, because they will go away again. But if 40% of them voted/would vote for a guy that's despicable even on a very superficial level then I just don't know anymore. It's not even the politics, even I agree with some of his points (they need proper immigration procedures and to stop illegal immigration, even Clinton built fences; China is bad - but there are other ways to go about it, maybe unite with the Europeans instead of pissing them off?!!!), it's his whole character, the stuff he says and does. He's a sleazy, sexist bully who can't read and write properly and still thinks he's smart. He's the world's laughing stock.

And then there's the religion stuff, the anecdotes about gays/lesbians that get exposed to insane and traumatic ' behavior conditioning treatments', the anti vaxxer stuff, flat earth, lizard people, creationists, the silly political divide between fucking marxists and neoliberals (European term, you would call them extreme libertarians). These two rivers that flow into the same vortex of stupidity that doesn't leave room for less insane people to acknowledge that a state might be useful, that taxation isn't evil, that you even might have to redistribute some of the wealth if you don't want a new French Revolution, but also that the free market as a basic principle isn't dead and is still needed and that not everyone deserves to get the same share of everything, you got to have incentives for industrious and innovative people. Don't even get me started on the other shit, the very real undercurrent racism in the GOP and the constant and tiring alarmism and shaming done by Democrats. And the constant lying by both of them. The way they handle truth and reality feels very post-modernist to say the least. And they are like Tom and Jerry, at each other's throats 24/7. Annoying.

As another person from hillbilly land, yeah: the forced prayer thing doesn't happen. Even in the deep backwoods that would be a massive lawsuit payout waiting to happen. No one shames me or my many atheist relatives for being non-believers either. Not to mention anti-vaxxing is a bi-partisan phenomenon that is as popular among many smug coastal liberals as it is among bible thumping conservative hicks.

Bascially what 27x, plus a lot of other things (just ask the Haitians about all the charity money the Clinton foundation raised for them which then just kind of disappeared).
