Skyrim SE as good as Vanilla modding?

So I have been thinking of switching over too SE modds on loverlab, but I am not sure how well developed the mods there are. Can I expect mods too the same quality as those that already exist in the vanilla skyrim community?

Prolly not the best time to do it with the whole AE thing and all

I know of nothing worthwhile that exists on LE that does not exist on SE.  For me, SE has been way more stable and I have not looked back after switching.  There are some SMP type issues that some report with SE, but I don't use it so for me it is not an issue.

There are also lots of mods that exist for SE that don't for LE and converting them is problematic.

ye realized that as their is technically no SOS right now and even the fan patch does not work anymore, luckly the guy who made the patch is also making a new mod too replace SOS completly.

You will find most of mods from LE on SE, and SE is much more stable, and have much more cool shit unachieveable on LE, like scriptless potions/hitstop/parry/backstab, true directional combat (which i do not like, but hey, it is cool, and groundbreaking), Animation Motion Revolution, etc etc. Lot of modders are abandoning LE. SE have bigger system requirements. And i heard that LE has more ENBs, and can be modded better in the terms of graphics. And esl files, no more merging signle weapons, houses, so this is quality of life shit for heavily modded Skyrim. That being said, i would switch to LE if I were you. Unfortunly my potato PC cant handle it with satysfying settings.

But in 90% it will be the same experience.

I wanted to post a similar question as I'm returning to Skyrim after some time off and was wondering if I should switch.

But forgive this noob question what what is the "whole AE thing"?

The anniversy update (AE) is the latest version of skyrim that will be downloaded from steam / pushed out if you allow updates and its meant to have been recompiled using visual studio 2019 (think it is) which means that mods using SKSE that haven't been made/updated for that version won't work and it requires a different SKSE version than the last skyrim SE one

There is a SKSE for AE now and some mods have been updated for that since i originally posted but inevitablely some mods will never be updated as the mod author has stopped modding/moved onto other things/hasn't upgraded to AE themselves

As a very rough rule, if it didn't have its own .DLL and just required a working version of SKSE it "should" work, if it had its own .DLL then that needed to be re-done for AE

Qualilty? Mm... thats hard to asses.

In general, i think the mods are the same on both versions of the game.

SE runs smoother in my opinion than LE, but i am sure others may disagree.

Anyhow, you challenge with SE will be to stay on the last SE version versus AE.

To do that you need to tweak Steam a little.

Either stay offline most of the time or limit the update window to a time when you are not online.

Otherwise you Skyrim version will be overwritten by Steam.

To counter that, you need to make a backup of you SE version of Skyrim. So in case it is overwritten you can copy it back.

I play for a long time SE and keep it in line with the update.

All the mods i am running are quite well. I did not encounter any problems really. Of course some mods may not be available but those are (imo) limited.

Where i always had some lag on LE, SE seems to running very smoothly.  I have a base installation with ENB and all that functions very good. I do not change anything on it.

This thread will be helpful with SE.
