Greetings all of youhs :) !

Dont know if someone already posted this... but... browsing some of topics on LLs I just stumled on THIS ! : https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/q6czcc/pc_sse_an_important_psa_regarding_skyrim/

The 11 11 2021... Bethesda is releasing the Anniversary Version of the game, which WILL update your Steam game if you don't pay attention and which... will basically SCREW YOUR SKSEmodded Skyrim COMPLETLY. Yeeeap. All you mods based on SKSE including SLF and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllll the others will cease to function.

Yeeeeeap... this is happening... The DoomsDay.

I don't know about scripting and porting mechanics but i somehow feel that will not just be a port problem like between LE and SE.

You have been warned... back up a clean install of your Skyrim... back up your dowloaded mods and cross fingers that modded Syrim will not die.

PS: if i am talking sh*BIIP* please smack me... and i'll delete mea voces.

Plenty of us never switched from LE.  This is less of a problem than you're making it out to be.

There's no need to be narcissistic.  Though your signature suggests that perhaps there is...

Well... i maybe sounded histerical, but that was not my intention.

And yes this will be not a biggie in time... modders will probably port after SKSE update. But the difference is... LE is a standalone version.

Basically you will be not affected like... ever. SSE players on the side... well... they basically can say "Adieu" to their modded Skyrim for a time that day if they update their Steam game.

So my post is not to make the thing problematic but to eventually warn people who did not know like me until today.

And because of Steam mechanics... they might one day just have a *facepalm" firing their Skyrim. You... will not have this problem.

Voila Monsieur.

PS: if you could give me a receipe for a LE version with 200+ mods running smoothly... i would love you on sight ^^

simple solution - don't launch the game through Steam and you won't automatically update it. I've only ever launched my game through Steam once, and that was just to get the ini set. Then I got all my mods installed, and I launch through SKSE. Steam never gets touched.

If you are running a modded game, you shouldn't be launching through Steam anyway. I'll only ever have to worry about it if my SSD's crash and I have to completely re-download the game.

I've never gone quite that big.  I'm running 153 mods with (nearly) no issues.  Very rare that it crashes, locks up, or doesn't behave as expected (minus the de-facto Bethesda buggery).

I never realized Sexlab had such roots in the original game!

Bethesda has been fucking its players in the ass for quite a few years now, and only recently has the community realized it's bad for them.

I've been using LE all this time, always considering switching over but never willing to make the jump (well over 200 mods for me, some bugs, but stuff I could usually handle, and not everything I wanted got ported). Right now it seems like I made the right choice. I was under the impression all this time that anniversary edition was going to be totally separate, like SE was from LE. Seems like more and more Bethesda is willing to screw over their own community.

I just read the reddit post and this info needs to be spread! People need to unplug from Skynet to preserve their modded SSE. It sounds like there is no straightforward way to update plugins that anyone can do, like there was from LE to SE. That means that the current version of the game should be the last for people who want a modded game.

Just to note under the new steam download page the 'Missing file privileges' message is now a more scary 'DISK WRITE ERROR' message. However still the best way of stopping Steam updating something you don't want updated. eg :-

But why use common sense when you can listen to what people say on Reddit? :classic_laugh:

There are lots of people on here who have been running 200+ mods for years.

There was a post on here several days ago in which CPU mentioned something about SKSE.

To be fair I used that technique since 2018 for my SSE build until the beginning of this year when I need to upgrade so that the Nexus Enderal SSE download would run. However couldn't be arsed to type out all the instructions my self so the Reddit post sufficed. Seemed fairly comprehensive to me. Take it or leave it.

A question to LE users.

Do you need to install this on WIN 10 ?

https://www.dosbox.com/

As a LE user I can help you:

You need to install DOSBOX on windows 10 if you want to play Dune II or some of those https://www.dosgames.com/ on the same Windows System you have Skyim LE/SE/VR and FO4 and many more modern games installed.

Looks like SE users will need a "DONTUPDATEMEBOX" for Windows 10?

It was more like a satirical question ;)

Sometimes I play very very very old games. Not that old, but on traveling it's nice, Master of Orion II.
