ZAP XXL Update

I have been silent regarding the issue cause I figured I'd work on a fix, with the help of other mod authors using the suggestion by Fore. Its complete and out for testing by other mod authors already a few positive results. ( Apparently "it was a known fact that ZAP wouldn't work with the new 6.3")

I'm not even going to try to be diplomatic here because my name is being dragged to shit with lies and Misinformation. If y'all know me I'm usually the one to walk away and let it go but....... a line was crossed...... and this would be first and last time ever I hope to do it.

Just to set the record straight regarding this whole fiasco!

I have had only 2 messages I have had with said mod author in question in PM's rest everything is out in the open.

When I handed over the mod, it was with the intention taking over completely. And not just add furniture based animations.

I myself wasn't aware that the FNIS update was giving trouble. And when Fore himself literally spoon fed the fix along with other mod authors (two weeks ago), this person would rather have current still stable mods and used broken. Not to mention at least ask for help for the fix. Mind you, I was never called either regarding this. I should have heeded to warning the concerned mod authors gave me but I wanted to give them more time. I finally came after the fifth person told me basically shit was going down.

In total I have been contacted by 5 renowned mod authors/users regarding the ZAP update that would break existing stabe Mods when there was a fix right there.

I'am going to quote the 'politest' message from an unamed mod author I got today, the other ones just no .......

"A framework isn't as much about shiny new things. It's about providing services to other modders. I will be frank for a second - in the DD team we all but decided to remove ZAP as a dependency when our attempts to talk to T.ara went unanswered, while he seemed to happily work with a person who's well known for developing mods without giving a rat's behind about being compatible with anything but his own creations - which is probably NOT the right attitude to have when working on a framework. Frameworks are all about providing services to the community at large - not just your own. The DD family of mods is probably the single biggest user of ZAP, but apparently compatibility with it was not much of a concern. At least that was the impression I got from not getting any of our PMs answered, and handing closed testing of ZAP to a niche group instead.

I totally respect T.ara's intentions. His additions to ZAP were well intended and from what I have seen, the quality of his work is nothing short of outstanding. And I can appreciate language barriers not being helpful in situations like this. It's a shame that it ended like it did."

I too can appreicate the effort the team working on it especially the Animator....its not easy.
But I dont agree the with shunning mod authors especially when your own mod is a Framework that other mods use.

If the Mod Author Updated the ZAP the way it was, which they did once, despite the warnings

1. Animations  played via AI package/script would start freezing - All The possible Quest based Mods ( theres a shit ton of them) using ZAP animations would start freezing all of them use this particular kind code.
2. Devious Devices Entire FAMILY of all mods would possibly face major issues and would have definitely pulled the plug on ZAP that means shit load of work for them.
3. The said issue doesn't occur on furniture based Animations....... everything else has a likely hood to freeze especially on Ai packages and Script type animations even the player is controlled by AI. So that would include the player slaves types.

About The future of the Mod is that it will remain the way it is once updated. With the occasional Bug fix or two. Like before new mods can be built around without any trouble from scratch. Existing mod would be stable.

One thing I would like to do is apologize to community when things like this happen its the Users is Suffer , And I Apologize to Ya'll. ,

I could go on and on, but I close with this Quote.

"nice to know that a day's needless drama from an absentee mod author can undermine months of solid effort by a successor"

Nice to know that a day's needless drama (Concern) from an absentee mod author (Who worked for YEARS on the said mod from scratch, humble enough to ask for help when needed. Also making sure Their Framework Mod Wouldn't shit on the other Mods) Can undermine months of solid effort by a (supposed) Successor (who received everything on a silver platter)

ZAP 7.0 GET REKT XXL UPDATE , will be out soon'ish once we implement some bug fixes

Thank you for the hard work on the original ZAP and the new updates as well. I hope nobody holds grudge against one another after the "drama". T'ara did do a very good job adding some great animations into the resources.

If you are infact updating, would you be willing to implement the animations made by a number of authors that were meant to be in the Updates done by t.ara? I can send you files for a few that I've already given to t.ara.

Just wanted to mention to send their Names so they can be added to the credits.

Also -This is very important

The animations would be added to pack . ZAP is a framework it does nothing on its own.

There would need to be a separate mod(or Mods)  which actually makes use of the animations

PM'd you, as well as anyone else I know that was working on content for ZAP, informed them of the drama and how they can get in touch with you should they want to bring their stuff forward, seeing as you're here, could you clarify which version of ZAP is going forward?

Your pre t.ara version / t.ara's stable pre drama version / t.ara's latest give-other-mods-the-shaft version ?

If you consider adding more furnitures I would recommend to add a keyword based classification. That would ease the life of modders without changing any behavior of the package for no costs.

Currently Zep are adding device classification keywords but I think they are better placed into the source package.

I don't mind adding. Will discuss this on the bug fix thread in where you posted your Scripts.

Anything you want to add let me know, I have two coders helping me out, they will probably implement the code. I will send stuff out for testing and we are good to go

REGARDING THE ZAP 7.0 XXL UPDATE

The necessary changes has been made to the Animation List. And the Behavior File has been Updated to the new FNIS .The mod has been tested by sufficient mod authors with 0 issues regarding freezing and being unstable.

  • Couple of Bug fixes by Zaria will be implemented in the next release by a few coders I requested help from.
  • Keyword based classification for furniture as requested by Zaira, ( Zaira you will have check once I'm done. I will ask for help )
  • Issue with the missing pillory will be fixed
  • Some Animations by darkevilhum will be added as per their request. Branding / Dancer sex animation etc.
  • I will add some of my Paired Animations to ZAP I made years ago...... it was never implemented because no one knew how, I will leave that to anyone to code and make their own mod and take full credit for it

The Paired animations are towards the middle there were a few more not on video a hug and caress, (the kill moves wont be added for now , because of some issues but I will talk to a coder)

If things go well, all this should be out by the coming weekend

Cheers

Any Questions Regarding why I have taken back control of ZAP .......

Huh, some things, but first, regarding the "missing pillory": depending on what you mean,2 pages back were some posts about some SLAL packs... afaik that's totally up to those SlAL packs and independent from ZAZ, the pillories are included in the animation (or should be, sometimes they fail). So don't try to fix a bug that is out of your control. ;)

In case of doubt, you could ask Anubis or maybe Funnybizness (or Shashankie who makes his SLAL packs), i'm not 100% sure they didn't use ZAP resources in some way.

In case you're wondering what all this talking about SLAL even means: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/2506-sexlab-animation-loader-guide/

And welcome back. :) I'm a bit sad that there had to be such a drama to make that happen...

*edit: oh, yes. Could you upload your animations seperated from ZAP as a modders resource? The point is: FNIS has an animation limit of 8k. Fore released an unstable considered version with a limit of 12k. I'm currently at 11,5k, and didn't update several SLAL packs some time. I'm not that much into hugging and kissing, maybe i'm once in the mood to sacriface some rape animations for them, but i'd like to have the choice. :)

And with SLAL everybody can make a mod with it without having ZAP as requirement which might also be a thing.

Aight,  Thanks

I guessed as much with the Pillory issue because every thing seemed to be fine and dandy here on my end.

ZAP will be using FNIS 6.3 XXL to generate animations hence forth. ( its done and tested )

I agree people should have a choice for animations they want.

I myself won't be making a separate modders resource for SLAL ZAP animations (because I don't have the time for it). But I won't stop anyone who wants to make a Pack with the Animations from ZAP. Go right ahead no permissions required ( as long as it doesn't mess with the original pack)

With the little time I have I will maintain and add small updates and fixes to existing stuff and some new animations to ZAP when I can.

I really wish I could do more for ZAP or Modding but for now I have to focus on RL / Bills etc

Cheers and Thanks

ZAP 7.0 is being tested with the bugfixes and updates now. So far all seems to be good. Waiting on a few more responses from mod authors. Once I get a green light , I will upload

I will keep the adding of new animations on hold for now at least for a week. Cause this would be the first Major Update in 2 years regarding Code and FNIS.

There seem to be a little confusion about terms, but i guess we already meant the same:

-upload animations as modders resource: just put the animations in a zip file and upload them seperated from ZAP, somebody can use those, for example for a SLAL pack or any mod he's working on

-making a SLAL pack: using your resources.  ;)

And some confusion i might brought up: not sure if there even is something like FNIS 6.3 XXL for modders, i don't think it would be necessary. It's only needed for users like me who have too many animations installed, on the other hand i don't know if there is any difference between the normal version and the XXL version except for the limit. But i really don't want to be the guy who made ZAP unstable, so i'd advice to use the normal version or ask fore or somebody who knows.  ;)

And thanks for the work, update sounds good. :)

Dumb question here, is there a difference between the version I downloaded from the beta (second version) and the public release? I guess I should download the standalone version anyway.

Thanks for the update.

It should be safe to upgrade to 7.0 from any past version. There isn't actually any new feature or any behavioral changes in the framework. It'll behave the same and has some fixes for optional stuff that got broken due to age (slavetats).

Attention: My contribution are keywords only. The mentioned functionalities are NOT part of the Zap 7.0!

They are part of Zep. The current Zep 1.08 depends on Zap 6.x and provides this functionalities there. I'll release a Zep for Zap 7.0 in near future.

Modders are invited to define their own functionalities. For example the Zep functionality to auto unequip restraints when entering a furniture with restraints is a hacky workaround. Correct would be to unequip the restraints in a scene before entering the furniture.
