Clea Strange Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Dead Space Remake, I am really enjoying it. Still playing Final Fantasy 14. Waiting for the new DLC for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous then I'll play again. Waiting for Starfield.
2dk2c.2 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 (edited) I got burned buying "red dead redemption 2", I kept waiting for the actual game to start, not just riding horses in the cold. Where were the zombies? Well I (of course) still have it, feeling sheepish + stewpid I bought it, and went back into my game toychest and pulled out "Mass effect andromeda" and a wish for Harry Potter, but I can't, uhm, $60? And it's about school? And puzzles? I hated school, dislike puzzles...but if it's good, IDK ($60, you say?) Harriet potteress would be nice. I still have "Bayonetta" but it kind of sucked....I'm lousy at picking games. Edited February 26, 2023 by 2dk2c.2
Grey Cloud Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Finally given up banging my head against a wall trying to get EU4 be the game I want it to be. If there is a way to make something unnecessarily complicated and illogical then look no further than Paradox. A list in alphabetical order - yep; a list in reverse alphabetical order - yep; a list in no order whatsoever - yep. Pop up windows asking you to choose from one option. Want to start a war? I'm sorry but you don't have a casus belli and we all know that the Mongols were such sticklers for Roman law. When you consider that this is EU 4 and the version I have is the latest iteration (1.34) it's damned shoddy.
AKM Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Made the mistake of re-loading 7 Days to Die. It's a fun game - if the damn devs would just pick what they wanted it to be, build it, then leave it the hell alone. Instead, we have not players vs. zombies, but rather devs vs players. Every time the players figure out how to break the zombie AI, the response from the devs is "NO! YOU'RE PLAYING THE GAME WRONG!!!" The PLAYERS are the enemy, so it seems. There's a reason this game has been "pre-release" for almost a decade now: It allows the devs to screw with it, and they openly admit that doing so is exactly the reason why they leave it in pre-release status. I doubt they actually have any intention of ever "finishing" the game.
beefers Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 currently playing the Dead Space remake and it's really good. Looks terrific and feels familiar yet fresh with logical gameplay improvements. The only thing I don't like is the actual character models because everyone looks really ugly.

woodsman30 Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Been playing Horizon Zero Dawn getting ready to play Horizon Zero dawn into the West. A combat based game for sure the mechanics are fun and when played at the hardest level both are painfully satisfying. I like games to be difficult and requires thinking and planning... On a different note also been revisiting Days Gone riding a motorcycle killing zombies whats not to like?

I will never understand all the praise this game gets and people calling it a masterpiece. Is it a fantastic open world that feels genuine and looks amazing? Yes. But the controls are rubbish, the story is shallow and cliche and the character motivations make no sense. I hate most of the gang members, Dutch most of all and can't understand why Arthur (or anyone else) would stick with him. ALL WE NEED IS MORE MUNEH AND EVERYTHING WILL BE GREAT. Awful. And the controls, MY GOD the controls. So janky, so needlessly complicated, so slow to respond both on foot and on horse... it's more like a chore than fun. The best parts are outside of anything to do with the story when you're just out there exploring and riding around, hunting, fishing, taking bounties, etc. The prologues are my favorite part because it actually makes sense and feels hopeful whereas the rest is so dire and devoid of reason. And no Dutch. The fact that there is no single-player DLC featuring either Sadie or Charles (or both) is a god damn outrage. They were the two most interesting characters and it's a total waste you couldn't play as them. In fact, it would have been cool to switch from Arthur to Sadie after she goes full badass and then take off and do your own story, that way there was some continuity with the gang and John's story but also a new story with a fresh character that isn't tied to stupid Dutch. 100% agree: Let´s dissect and analyse this game with some few lines of text: The game is doing the opposite like the creators enthusiastically broadcasted: -no realism in very much and different aspects, mostly too fast animations and the handling of weapon wheels ingame is STUPIDLY not realistic...one long weapon and a short one-that ´s it and this is mostly making slower to carry, same for other inventory...such amount of different stuff is simmply not possible to carry....as usually NO REALISM -same for animation-turns and speed....waaaayyyyy tooo fast, always the same and the overall animation-engine is too heavy for an online game...servers can not follow quick enough....shooting system is not properly working, for example is a 6-bullet loaded gun shooting mostly twice, then you reload 6 new bullets-rockstar is here ALSO fooling gamers and honestly you have to buy more than you are using in shots....pretty much funny -the graphics do not work in some different settings correct in a technical way and the occlusion maps of some world-assets only work with a "high" setting correctly...if set to other parameters, the game is graphically spending errors... -the overall surface tessellation system of rockstar is working only in some few angles, I mostly recognize the game to offer simple and straight surfaces which simply are "polished" by this modern parameter, which is lacking specially at edges... -the story is nonsence -the online gameplay is improvisated,..easy to feel that! -the landscape is mostly created in a boring and easy-to-handle for the engine-way- I would have MUCH MUCH better ideas... -no diving into water and dying after swimming longer is laughable and also not realistic, btw. -brutal and bloody videos, sad and bad looking characters, face-repetitions within NP-characters, offensive and not necessary tone under westernh-people dialoges (which never has been standard for those times) is fairly the service to gamers, which like such stuff-to me it is simply boring waste of nonsence -nicely added train-settings, agian coming from illusion-softwork´s creators from the past-this is the imposant part of this game, mostyl added with stupid touting from town to town and thru the desert as well-it is made like a model-railway which we know at home and that ´s how that feels ingame, too -clothing sets for the player is looking like in "back-to-the-future III" and as soon I meet players inside of that game they come simply not suiting into the scenery, the overall clothing doesn´t feel much authenthic...also NPCs don ´t wear lot of different outfits in whole, it´s quite reduced to some few models-pity -a serious western title should be able to also pick up the history of the indigenous population of the past and not exclude those, same for their clothing, culture and playing options for the gamers....this is totally missing and this has been cowardly surrounded by the creators of RDR2-this is is the main reason to not play this game at all-specially while inside of GTAV the self critism of the american "culture" is been spread around onto any placards and going also within inside of the story itself, but this game is in comparison with RDR2 offering simply a much more professional base, of course! -new added stuff like the "survivals" are too slow, too large, coming with nonsence intros and always made to fake away lot of time wasting for the gamers to stay in game doing nothing, same way this whole game has been built up in online-mode I could go on to talk about more but I don ´t like to bore you with details etc, etc... This title has been looking promissing but at least it has disappointed millions of gamers and still it is...GOLD is really not everything you need in a virtual life...online-games need a careful sorted out strategy and very different aspects of minigames to survive these days...RDR2 can not reach that with their looser´s greenhorn developpers, I´m very sorry to mention that here. The best games all have been passed by and it were those games, which had a perfect story inside of them, which had indeed an awfull graphics in the past, but which simply were FUN to play: MAFIA...perfect characters, perfect story, unique story-no plagiarism, no copy of existing stuff. And btw. is the version, which later has been overworked simply lost it´s charme by filling the dialogues again with gossen language and insulting...same for all other and more modern games-big and wrong way to transport such a way of "culture", if we name that a such like. Well - my wife and I played it - it completely through the online part as well - I gave up at some point in Arthur's story... ...but not because I found the story unrealistic - but because I didn't get along with the game-play mechanics in combat at all Is this story reliable? When it comes to the "Wild West" - of course - because the "Wild West" of Hollywood that I grew up with as a child ("Guns Smoke" - "Bonanza" - "12:00 PM") - it never existed - it's pure fiction! what is this story It is the dying of this "lawless" West - which in area was only a tiny part of the actual West - and only that part was so shaped by the raider gangs that legends could be made of them. Unrealistic raider gang? On the contrary - for me the psychological dependencies of the individual protagonists are completely understandable... ..."Dutch" is a guy who could also manipulate entire nations - if he had the opportunity to do so. Yes - somewhere else "Dutch" could have been a "Duce" or a "Fuhrer" - in this game he's just the charismatic boss of a group of people who don't want to put themselves under the yoke of a law - which would only disadvantage them . And it is precisely this aspect that many do not seem to understand ... these people are with "dutch" because they have all had the experience that "law and law" only protects the rich and powerful and never the weak and poor... ...and they try to evade that as "Outlwas" - as those who are OUTSIDE the law. And this legal freedom - which actually only existed in a very small area for a few decades - disappeared completely at the end of the 19th century. So the only black US marshal disappeared - because when the "normal" USA laws were in effect again - the law on racial segregation was also in effect and it didn't allow any black law enforcement officials!! And at this time - in which the game is set - all Indians aka "natives" were already cooped up on reservations. Please, what else should be reflected on in RDR 2 - except in the missions that Arthur actually does for the chief and his tribe. So, contrary to what you claim, it's in the game - but what you would have expected... ...should have been settled 30 years earlier - at the time of the actual Indian wars. But then one would have had to tell - that mostly the black cavalry units of the US Army were used for these massacres of the Indians... ...also one of the many stories of the "Wild West" unknown to the majority of US and EU citizens Edited March 9, 2023 by Miauzi

The game was kinda shit even on maxed out visuals game play was really clunky only high lite was insulting people lol.. but, access to the game was a drag to login to much work for a game i bought.. fuck that why do I have to log in to play? Never could understand what it was really about... So for me two thumbs way down.
2dk2c.2 Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Reading back, I see some (ok, one) play "dead space" and I went to look. It's monsters and (I'll totally guess) oxygen management. I never finished "[blah] The moon" because I kept having to google the puzzles, and I died a lot. So my choices are three, a cartoony soulcalibur, a boy and his wand (Hogwarts) and (now) dead space. Does the guy eventually become captain of his ship, meet alien women or... is it like those zombie games, where you plot strategy to not get eaten. I'm not sure about any $60 game at all.

Never could understand what it was really about... So for me two thumbs way down. The only few positive aspects of that game is the nature and the horse-riding. If one needs some virtual relaxing in a virtual nature, there are some nice areas indeed available-those mostly are potential grabbed off some famous movies because the creators of the landscape did sadly not use their own fantasy-and those "objects of plagiatisms are all puzzled together inside of a MUCH too big world with stupid borders. It ´s sort of a modern screen-saver with "manipulatible options" for riding and having a character inside... I still have that installed but it is rarely played. When thinking in same time of skyrim, I could also mention the music and soundtrack of RDR2, but this aspect of that game is too bad to even become part of a serious critics. Pretty much a sad story about RDR2 as this game really had potential concering it´s technical aspects. Hard to believe that such a game became a rockstar-title. Successful sold product based on the interest of many gamers at just the beginning and same way terrible to see how many people in a short while drop the game again. Edited March 10, 2023 by t.ara 1

Darkpig Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Portal Portal 2 Those two games fun gravity puzzles I would highly recommend. Besides if you're into sadistic Siri then this is the game for you. Oh and Skyrim
Grey Cloud Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I've been reading some Philosophy of Mind stuff, watching vids on the Indus Valley civilisation, watching some vids on mythology and also watching vids on the Pacific Campaign in WW2. I'm thinking of giving BG3 another go with the latest and last patch. The full game releases August 31st.
NickNozownik Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 Diablo 2 Resurrected with mods. It's just Diablo 2 with better graphics and I can share items between my characters, I couldn't do that in the original if I remember correctly. I gave Fallout 4 a chance and after installing hundreds of mods it's a decent looter shooter. NPCs are still completely braindead, mods only make them walk and drool in a tiny circle for a few minutes before giving up or being shot at point blank range because they can't find me. My advanced tactic of standing in the open and shooting them with a shotgun is too much for them to handle.
Mr. Otaku Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Finally have some time to play after 2 months of non-stop work and family stuff, so hopefully my plans to get back into Skyrim won't go down the drain for the 20th time. I'm not short on options if it does go down the drain though.
