Most likely for the same reasons as many other half-baked game come out: Laziness and/or pressure from the high-ups to release on time. 1
Wandering_Mania Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 For the past few days I've been replaying NFSU (Need for Speed: Underground) and NFSU2. As well as a bit of Hoyle Casino 2008, a game that couldn't even be made today without being rated M or AO because it has... Fake gambling!!! Quick! Hide your kids! There's fake gambling afoot! (never mind the real gambling in all the loot boxes and 'Raid: Your Wallet legends') Please note the sarcasm in that previous statement.

Well, FO:NV can hide it a bit behind all the other things to do. Hoyle Casino 2008 was nothing more than actual casino games, licensed by actual casino games makers, and the whole point was to play them, and earn a lot of fake money with nothing else to do with it, but to play more casino games and earn more fake money. Here's the myabandonware page if you want to take a look. 1

In Fallout New Vegas, at least one can purchase the most powerful of shoulder fired atomic ordnance in the Mojave Wasteland with all of the money earned from casino games to cause far more monetary value in damages to everyone and everything in the area. The only thing that one gains from the likes of Hoyle Casino is an addiction and another customer for actual casinos.

That's the argument, but it's not true at all. I'd call it 'A safer, and less expensive way to play those games', as the true 'Las Vegas/Atlantic City vibe' is missing entirely from it. Something that games with loot boxes, and other real money 'gambling mechanics' have managed to replicate.
Guest Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Currently playing through KOTOR and a bit of BGE but since there is a remaster coming in 3 days, I will wait. And to be honest I am VERY excited.
Clea Strange Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 shin megami tensei vengeance I must say I'm enjoying it and will do multiple playthroughs of it.
Mr. Otaku Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Little bit of Starfield but mainly GTA Online with friends on Discord voice call. In fact i'm about to go online in 15 minutes so we can check out the new DLC. We gonna do some cop shit.
chooseChaos Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Let's call it a call to arms games 😇 I play regularly: Count to a million, Volume 2 Change a word, Volume 2 Spoiler Would you like to play along? 😁

Grey Cloud Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 "What do you play right now?" could well be asked of the England team. I'm playing Greedfall. I'd never heard of it until last week when I found out that a Greedfall 2 was imminent. Not a bad little game.
belegost Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 (edited) Hardspace Shipbreaker. A game that would've been amazing if not for the unskippable, boring and cringy storyline that force-feeds you poorly disguised Marxist propaganda. Likely written by some first-world college student that never had the displeasure of experiencing what a "Marxist utopia" actually feels like, once you're forced to live in it through your child and teenage years. That fact that the ship breaking part is quite fun is totally ruined by the bad taste the whole package leaves in your mouth. A taste surprisingly reminiscent of toilet paper shortages and empty store shelves. Edited June 28, 2024 by belegost
Darkpig Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 (edited) Been playing Invisible, Inc. where you organize a team for a series of heists in a cyberpunk setting with the ultimate goal of retaking your home base. It is a rogue like stealth game with turn based mechanics and it is hard as balls or it would be hard if I didn’t set the rewinds to 99. Still the gameplay loop is solid. Take too many turns and the alarm advances up a level and things start happening to make your mission that much harder. I’m talking more firewalls, more guards, changes in patrol patterns, etc. Sneaky sneaky~ Edited July 1, 2024 by Darkpig
Wandering_Mania Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 This last week, I was playing 'Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition'; And I'll keep playing it into this week. After all this time that 'Neverwinter Nights' has been out, I am still trying to make that 'perfect character'; The one that I will never tire of playing, that will be able to use the gear I like, with the skills/spells I like, and will never need to make another one. But I will anyway, and still come back to that character; You know, 'perfect'. Spoiler
spoonsinger Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Waiting for BG3 to download. (Need to play it this year as suspect will be very busy next couple). Only another five days for it to finish the download. So Skyrim, MW5 and Neverwinter Nights Shadowlands, Dreamcatchers & Demons campaign, (never finished it, and did quite like it).
DocClox Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 (edited) Still on Starfield, but interspersing it with with Masters Of Raana, a fun SF slave trainer/survival/business sim/sandbox game. Lots of girls, lots of ways to play, lots of interesting lore. Edited July 10, 2024 by DocClox
Chbaakal Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Bought a PS5 w/ disk drive and 2 controllers from a friend, who went 'religious' a month ago, for $150. Only game left he didn't give away was Stellar Blade. Attempted to play 3 times so far, but can't seem to hold a controller anymore for more than 20 minutes before my right hand cramps up severely. My doctor put me through a few tests and concluded I do not have carpal tunnel but I do have tendonitis, mainly along the tendons of two fingers. Weird, since my job is folder/gluer machine operator and can usually offload, form and bundle stacks of product at top speeds of 5,500 to 7,000 pieces per hour (usually solo) for four 8-10hr days per week and only have mild soreness after each day. Stuck with mouse/kb for now, and getting tired of Palworld, 2d old school shooter Selaco, and replaying Borderlands 1.
RedHeadAngel Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 I've been playing a lot of Skyrim lately. Shocker, I know.
Wandering_Mania Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Past week or so, I've been back to Starfield to see what all was added, and test the rover. But quickly found that the rover is worse than the the 'M34 Mako IFV' from 'Mass Effect 1'. It's controls are horrendous. Plus there is far too much random rock spam in SF to even make 'driving' possible, it's mostly 'jump and fly'. And even when there is enough open space to 'drive', the damn rover has no grip. The tires spin outta control so much that it intensifies the wonky 'two bind steering system'. K/B OR Mouse Bugthesda, pick ONE, but both just makes the whole thing work like crap. Suffice to say the damn thing has one problem, built over another, and another. Making for the... WORST! ROVER! IN HISTORY!
porkybork Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Picked up Hollow Knight for the first time in over a year since I'm tired of waiting for Silksong to come out. The game is still as fun as I remember, but I'm super rusty. Once I feel comfortable enough with controls, I'm gonna go for the 5 hour Speed Run trophy and the 100% Steel Soul trophy... and then I'll beat the Pantheon of Fools... and then I'll beat Godhome... Pantheon 5 fucking terrifies me.

The only mod I've been able to find, is to remove the mouse steering. But nothing that fixes the lack of tire grip, and so on. But I wish there was a mod that fixes it all in one shot.
