hello

a little confused on what should I install.

should i install both patches or just the main file?

Do you mean the patch I posted? If so, then you will need BRR 3.00+, Devious Lore 1.14, and the Devious Devices Lore Patch. I added the proper masters, so if you install the file then you will be able to see it's requirements.

The patches are optional, and you should only install one. (Excluding the one Corsec posted above, that's a patch to lore patch)

The Struggle Patch assigns existing struggle animations to most devices.

The Lore Patch does this as well, and also renames all devices to be consistent with the dialogue in this mod.

I appreciate the quests and new method to escape devices this mod brings. However, with escapes, I'd really appreciate more ways to adjust difficulty of the various factors. As it is now, as far as I can see, the only difficulty I can adjust, is that of the struggle. Lockpicking, which I frequently opt to use instead (as running out of stamina for a long, unajustable in-game time is annoying from a gameplay perspective) seems incrediby powerful, pretty much able to unlock locks without my input even at low (20) skill levels. With input, i typically only use 5-10% of the stamina bar before the device is unlocked.

My requests are thus: adjustability of duration and/or potency of stamina debuff after failing a struggle, and a separate difficulty slider for the lockpicking minigame.

I haven't been very active here lately, I guess

Didn't realise the mod was updated (since February!?)

I did a quick conversion so if there are any problems (the grey face bug almost always :unamused:), just let me know:

Devious Lore 1.14.7z 1.87 MB · 0 downloads

Thx, I already did it myself and it works in form 44. Faces are fine but I wasn't tied up by opening a package in 4 tries... I will follow up on that.

Regarding the struggle mini-game:

Could you make a compatibilty patch for the Imperious Races mod or make the option to choose, if stamina or mana is drained during struggle? The "problem" is that my redguard has the nomadic heritage trait with infinite stamina out of combat, whichs makes the struggle either to easy or I cannot see what I am doing, because stamina is always full anyway. There are several race traits in that mod (or similar ones) that interfere with the struggle mini-game.

If you could find out (through personal investigation or asking that mod's author) how the infinite stamina is implemented, you'd save this mod's author some trouble and you might be more likely to get a fix.  For instance, if the infinite stamina is simply a large buff to stamina regeneration, Devious Lore could counter that with an even larger debuff on its struggle effect, and that wouldn't even need a patch.

@Code Serpent regarding the struggle, if you wanted to you could remove the step for struggling free by skipping the popup choice of dexterity or strength and just calculating both and using whichever is better.  Presumably the character has a good feel for which approach to take and would make the right choice, so that would save a popup and a click for the player.

I have a small problem, I am supposed to find devices from slavers hideout, but I have not installed paradise halls and there is nothing to find at the given marker.

Are you using Cursed Loot? There's a "Slaver Hideout" that's used during the Captured Princess start. The location isn't accessible normally if you didn't choose the captured start.

If you are using CL then open up the console and type in coc dcur_hq_slaverhideout and hit Enter. You'll be ported to the hideout, hopefully the correct location, and you can continue your search for devices.

It's an annoying issue with CL, many locations that aren't normally accessible unless it's during a quest, Dagonar Prison or Captured Princess tend to be selected for radiant quests. This also happens for the NPCs in these restricted locations, too. You have to use the console to teleport to these restricted locations to continue whatever quest you're on. That's been my experience at least especially when mods such as Missives and Notice Board.

Version 2.0 is out!

This includes a new NPC, Mirtrienne the Mix-Blood, that will lead you to being bound by rope restraints; includes an almost complete rewrite of the dialogue in the mod; and includes massive changes and additions to most of the systems already in the mod. This update has polished up the mod to point where I'm actually proud of it.

To update, you just need to replace or overwrite the old version, no need to make a clean save.

I would tell you the ideas that I have for the next version of this mod, but based on how slow I've been with these updates, I think I'll hold off on that until I'm sure I will actually get around to them.

old_rubber_hood.nif is in both patches, is there an order that they should be loaded in? Or are the files identical?

You should use either the Struggle patch or the Lore patch, not both. The Lore patch contains all the changes the Struggle patch has, but also changes a lot more that might be incompatible with other DD mods.

Those ITM records are all cell and landscape changes around the added lore-monger shops. I don't think it's recommended to remove those records, as I think they still hold info on the terrain and navmesh changes..

Not all. Not only is Struggle Idles 3 times as big archive, it includes meshes that are not in Lore Patch. I was confused at first too because the changelog didn't clearly say that it includes all... And now i'm not sure.

It looks like the Struggle Idle patch includes some text files and facegen files, this was unintentional.

Edit: I just re-uploaded the patch with those files removed.

I don't think you need to be concerned about problems from removing ITM records.  ITM means exactly what it says, Identical To Master.  The record is marked as changed but doesn't actually change any values.  Since you didn't change anything, the mod doesn't need the ITM record and you can safely remove it.  If there were an actual change to the terrain, the record wouldn't be flagged as ITM.

These records can arise through no fault of the mod author.  For instance simply duplicating a cell can cause the original cell to be marked as edited (thanks so much, Creation Kit).  Accidentally jostling a tree and moving it back marks it as edited, an ITM record.

It generally IS recommended to remove ITMs.  From LOOT's website:  "The more dirty edits there are in a mod, and the more mods with dirty edits you use, the more likely you are to experience issues....  ITM records are a type of dirty edit where a mod has overwritten something in the game without actually changing anything. If another mod higher up in the load order makes an intentional change to that thing, it will have its effect cancelled out by the ITM record, which can cause problems."
