As someone who uses height sliders extensively I agre that it looks good! Which slider did you end up using? Like I continue to use a pretty old one, just because I find it convenient and "easy to read" and work with, like I even made a table for using it work out my sims' heights ?

Only "problem" with sing height sliders is how WW animatiosn and such don't work too well with height differences, which has at times made made using some of my shorter female sims tricky, especially because I kind of scale their heads and such a bit differently to compensate for the height slider simply scaling them down, so if I reset their height to the default they kind of come out just looking fucking huge. Also since I've designed htem around being a certain height it kind of feels like part of their character at this point, I guess, especially for Linnie Stojanovic one of my oldest (and most favorite) sims who's pretty tiny (like 4'11 going by my new scaling in the spoiler), which somehow to me seems to further kind of reinforce the kind of tough girl appearance I've gone for with her.

She does actually kind of look like that yeah! Especially in that thumbnail. Makes me realize I've never really played around much with my own version of Bella Goth (seems everyone has their own lol). I'm pretty happy with how she looks, though I think if I hadn't already done one now, I'd have based her on this woman. Might consider giving her a similar small tattoo on her wrist like you can see in the video thumbnail there.

Thanks everyone for the concern and sorry for the worry ? its been a weird time and being a lone parent through the restrictions is kinda like being a captive in a mental prison or something like that ? having so much time indoors but zero space or privacy made me a bit crazy ? my brain is constantly thinking of things to do and organise, on and offline ? 

My game needs to go online and patch a few versions so I need to hunt for the script updates *yawn* and find out whether cc Windows are fixed yet? ?

It's been nice to have a bit of freedom again and being spoilt for ideas thanks to everyone's content ??

I got a lot of things to work on but I been agonising over the old stuff too, like the stiffer or weirdly bent ones and also thinking about making things in stages where I can ?

I used Luumia's neck height slider mod. The reason why is because I want to adjust my sim's feet size. The other height slider doesn't let me do that because adjusting feet size also adjusts sim height. ?

So I'm hoping this time, I'll have the patience to make this a multi-generational playthrough.  I took the time to build on every vacant lot, and seeded lots of library sims.  Mulder and Scully from the X-Files even have a house somewhere...

 

I started with Aden Boswell:

 

 

He was supposed to find himself "A" girlfriend.  No harem like with the other playthrough.  Whoever he hooked up with first, that's who it's going to be.  Aden immediately found a loophole in that plan, by hooking up with P. Faba.  I just told him to do a friendly introduction, remembered that the twins needed to be given Incest and Polyamorous and a maxed relationship, and while I was finding Q. to finish doing that, Aden and P. went downstairs together.

 

 

Okay, well, the Faba girls are a package deal who refuse to be split up.  This also made me make some refinements to their appearance- a proper milky-white skin, and a full-body tattoo.  Also now I understand the L. Faba reference, and I figured it doesn't make as much sense for the twins to go by just an initial.  So now they are Paige and Quinn.  P is for purple, I have to remind myself that too...

As I mentioned, I wanted to do something a little different, and make the sims resemble their ethnic backgrounds more than they do in the comics / cartoons / movies. That has always been incredibly hard for me to do, because once I make the sim resemble their character and start adding in ethnic characteristics, it starts looking different from how the character is "supposed" to look and starts looking "wrong". New plan: I decided to make sims that resembled the characters' ethnicity, then mould them to resemble the character. Hopefully, keeping a mixture of both. In some cases, I went for what I thought the character should look like, more than the comic representation.

 

@snowdog04 @mrrakkonn Great advice from both of you, but I actually already made the sims about 2 months ago. RL has just been keeping me too busy to finish them. I wanted to post them when they were finished and ready to share in the Downloads section. For the record, I used both your methods. For each ethnicity I Google image searched: "pretty (or sexy) ______ women". I then spent hours viewing pics until I saw the same genetic features in all of them. For Rahne, I came up with an image in my head, and the following day I made her perfectly to that image. She does not resemble any real person (that I know of), nor the comic representation. For other characters, such as Jean Grey, I used a real life model that looked similar, then moulded it towards the comics, so that the end result landed somewhere in the middle. Other characters, like Dani, looked very different from the models, and there was no happy medium, so I went a lot closer to the comics. I tried to use a real model for Kitty's English ethnicity (I'm assuming she has an English background, but it was never specified nor implied). She kept looking a lot like Kate Beckinsale. Not that that's a bad thing, but I wanted Katherine Pryde, not Katherin Beckinsale. Basically, I'm combining an authentic ethnic look (either in general or from a specific model), the comic book representation, and my own personal preferences.

 

Example: The first pic is a roughly 50-50 mix between a real-life model, and comic representation. The second pic has my own preferences / interpretation added.

 

 

I'll provide character reference pics when I show each individually, but don't be surprised if they look nothing alike. For now I just want to concentrate on the ethnic representation (which I feel is inadequately portrayed in the comic books).

@R-Lo Nice to see you back! I hope your life hasn't been too hectic lately. Your sims are gorgeous as always, especially that mermaid girl. She sorta reminds me of my Ivy for some reason. Maybe the hair and pale skin?

@2cool4u_1 When it comes to making racially diverse sims, I find that it helps to look at real people of whatever group you're trying to make. A basic understanding of racial coding and common geographical phenotypes can help as well because people tend to have a kind of "default person" for every racial/ethnic group. The eyes, cheeks, nose, and lips tend to be the biggest flags for someone being of a certain group. TS4 is actually pretty good with the presets in this regard (except for the skin tones and afro-textured hairs, oof) since each preset has its own unique shading and starting shape.

If you like using alpha CC, make sure you also use stuff made by black content creators, because I've noticed that black simmers tend to make better looking and more accurate black sims than non-black simmers. That shouldn't really be surprising since, ya know, they're black. This same rule applies to content creators of other ethnic groups as well. @snowdog04 and @mrrakkonn gave you some good advice as well.

As for making sims based on comic book characters or cartoons, I usually just note the character's key features and try my best to translate that into the game. I'll leave an example in the spoiler:

Let's use Becca Hendicks (lol) from Summertime Saga as an example.

First, I'd make a few mental notes of things that really define her appearance.

• Wavy, shoulder-length red hair
• Slightly arched eyebrows of medium thickness
• Big green eyes
• Upturned nose with a concave bridge
• Freckles
• Big, plump lips
• Average feminine frame
• Big boobs
• Somewhat wide hips
• A severe case of Resting Bitch Face

With this in mind, I'd then go into CAS and pick the presets which best translates these features into the game. After making some adjustments and adding some clothes, we have this:

 

Keep in mind that this was made fairly quickly and with almost no CC. In retrospect, I probably should've lowered her cheekbones a bit.

All that aside, it's up to you how you put together your sims. I'd say you've got the cartoony look down.

Even though the hairstyle is probably considered somewhat old-fashioned, it always looks awesome to me. The actress in the videoclip is Ana de Armas who was also one of the best parts of the recent Blade Runner movie.

Sorry everyone. This is off-topic, but in these times, I'm going to say it anyway. When I said I was glad R-Lo was back, I meant taking part and sharing with us. She never left. She was checking in regularly, and supporting all of us with "likes". This is a chart of the average percentage of FLU cases that result in death during Flu season. It reflects how potent / deadly the flu virus becomes during those months. It is not known for sure, but experts are expecting CORONA virus to behave similarly in terms of how potent the virus is during these months. We (in North America) started getting cases in March, when the virus was already dying down, and that was starting with zero cases. We completely missed the "bad" part. I think (& hope) your friends won't mind you checking their well-being over the next few months, given the circumstances.

I saw some attempts of Kendall Jenner on the sims resource. I wasn't too impressed. So I spent a few hours having a good go at making my own version of her. She's a complete airhead but she's stunning in real life. I f*cked up my reshade settings so this was Massively overly saturated beforehand. I think she needs some ? scenes lol.
