Darkpig Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Seriously people are using comedy as a crutch. And worst of all the jokes are lame. If you are going to try to be funny get better material.

If you are going to try to be funny get better material. Actually if it is the video you were talking about... he does a good job. It is a different type of comedy than most might like but it is still comedy and he is good at that type IMO. Also there are many that enjoy his jokes... Now, are you not amused due to your thoughts on the content and his video is counter to that? I for one can review some comedians work for their actual delivery and execution and not let my views of the content affect my decisions (as much as any person can.. of course there is content that will hit a nerve for me and make it really difficult to do but I try to keep that as far as possible )

Guanajuato is a beautiful state and the city of Guanajuato is among my favorite places to visit. To be fair, hardly any foreign news outlets cover violence in Chicago or NYC either. However, I cannot rule out that this is based on google's algorithm (giving me news sources only for the country that I am seemingly in according to the VPN) so maybe there is plenty of news. I mean I know I said that the US is a shitshow but I was exaggerating. That anarchistic mess south of it definitely is one though and nobody cares what happens there anymore. Sad but true, you can get used to everything. Turf wars between drug cartels and massacres in Mexico, that's not news anymore. @gregathit Looks lovely. I'm thinking about doing a little trip to the Baltic Sea too (will be in the vicinity next week), hope the weather will allow it. 1

The Guanajuato Attorney General said the bodies of seven men and four women were found in the bar in the early hours of Sunday morning. Another woman was found with gunshot injuries, authorities said in a news release. In a video filmed by local media Agora, heavy military and police presence was shown outside of a building called “La Cabana Del Toro” where the shooting allegedly took place. Guanajuato, a major car-making hub, has become a recurring scene of criminal violence in Mexico, ravaged by a turf war between the local Santa Rosa de Lima Gang and the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel. In July, gunmen killed 24 people at a drug rehabilitation center in Guanajuato," If this happened in the States you know every media center in the western world would be covering it. Probably less than 5% of the total would be my guess. Actually, your 5% guess is WAY too high. That would be 821.25 murders per year covered on the national news per year. The reality is more like 12 to 20 make the major news per year. That equals only .0012 of the 16,425 murders get major news coverage. Clearly the ones that make the news either are horrific in nature or fit a narrative that the news is pushing. The 5% figure is probably more accurate in the local news coverage. All of this is very, very sad. I'm not referring to the coverage so much as what clearly is the distain for the preciousness of human life that folks all over the world clearly have. The good news is that until the recent refusal to put and KEEP criminals in jail (and put those that deserve it away also) the murder rate was falling in most places. If we can get these A-hole judges and DA's straightened out, we can get back on track to reducing this. 1

---nikoli Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 There were approximately 16,500 murders in the US nationally in 2019. My city, which has a population around 650,000, not including tourists, averages a bit less than one murder every other day. Local news outlets rarely speak of more than one a week. National news maybe comments about one a day, unless some psychopath is on a rampage somewhere. California, Texas, and Florida led the way with yearly totals of 1,100+ each in 2019, Vermont was at the bottom of the list and apparently only had 11... 1

KoolHndLuke Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 If the body needs proper nourishment and exercise for good health, then it would follow that this is true for the mind as well. What is proper nourishment and exercise for the mind if not seeking and analyzing as many ideas or points of view as possible and constructing a logical thesis? Check any prejudices you have learned at the door to greater wisdom and dare to explore with the wide-eyed curiosity of a child while maintaining a firm footing in what you have already found to be true- for truth and understanding in all things is what we ultimately seek to be a fair and impartial judge. The question we should always be asking is not "why?", but "why not?". 2

Seems today many just can't be bothered and the second something doesn't work - out of the box - they immediately go to the world and beg for someone else to do it for them. There's so much documentation available to anyone with an internet connection (looking at you phone-bitches) a little self help can go a long way towards increasing ones self esteem. I gain satisfaction in finding myself capable of fixing something, learning from the experience, and knowing if another problem arises - there's a good chance I can fix it again. Personal freedom, I believe it's called. Disclaimer: Obviously this approach requires a certain amount of knowledge, and possibly tools or finances. So it won't work for EVERYTHING in life, but one should still try their best to better themselves whenever the opportunity arises. 3
