A previous thread was posted and she posted a reply that gave a great deal of info of what was going on and why she left.  A bit after she called out the OP they locked the thread and now deleted it.  Apparently there were some serious fighting going on between her and another member here regrading mods and such.

Wondering if it was worth spending over $100 on audio cables so I could change which computer uses the sound system instead of me getting my lazy ass out of the chair and changing the plugs (like I have for years).

The cost? Well, it is and it isn't. I can afford it fine, but it's just everything keeps going up in price over our lifetimes - we never get used to it I believe. My dad telling me about $0.25 models . . . .

Haha, mine used to tell me about the high costs for the materials he used, canvas and other stuff, that's now dirt cheap - my father's an artist as a hobby, he mostly creates for himself or our family occasionally.

Things always change.... and rarely for the better. I would sum life up as 'high maintenance' where if you leave something unattended for very long, it will fuck up somehow- usually at the worst possible time.

Seeing some of the threads in the Elden Ring Steam forums bought to mind a series of queries:

 

Would you rather female characters in video games/sequential art/cartoons be uniformly made as dull as a peahen to avoid offense or would you wan them removed altogether as they frequently were in the 1980s and 1990s in American releases of games if they were too 'attractive' by a set of ever-shifting standards or when they were involved in direct combat (unless they were sufficiently 'Butch', funny enough. Linda was okay in the Double Dragon home port but not characters like Poison or Roxy in Final Fight).

For that matter, would it bother you too greatly if the more attractive male characters were given the same treatment, being made to look more like the average Joe than Joe Sixpack (abs) or substituted out of certain situations to avoid any potential for titllation of the audience?

 

For example, what of making the face behind the mantle of the Batman look more like The Penguin or replacing Tidus from Final Fantasy X with Queen Brahne from Final Fantasy 9?

It would likely not be any more or less in bad taste than any other year since, despite what corporate news media would have one think, there has been some form of conflict in Eastern Europe since the Soviet Union fell.

Hmm..  I don't know what you speak of about computer games in the 80s and 90s.  Looking at the cover art for most games (SSI, AD+D, etc.) there was an attractive woman on there because the majority of the audience buying those games were young single males.    You may be referencing a different genre of games, though.   

 

In answer to your question....my answer doesn't matter since I am not the target audience anymore.   I want the women in my games to be sexy, tough and friendly.   As for male characters, again, it doesn't matter much but it better not be a Mr. Bean looking fellow, and should be the man I wish I could look like.    However, I also don't like amateur porn because I married the girl next door.   In the end, it is a matter of preference and game manufacturers will go where the dollars lead them.  If that is into woke, then so be it.
