Good grief.   But, the dedication is impressive.

If I go upstairs, I can see the first sunlight creeping up at the horizon.

And those birds you hear - that are our birds, too. They are on their winter holiday with you. Where it's much nicer than here right now :classic_laugh:

The root word for Fan is Fanatic. A more modern (and more charitable) interpretation would 'Fancier', though.

The power that money has is downright stupid. You could pay any youtuber to wear fake cat ears and possibly a maid outfit.

Not that I mind ?❤️:pig:

Right now, I am thinking a great deal about the Public Domain. Not merely the concept but the treasure trove of things which lay within rather than worry about what is kept outside of it for the time being. It just hits me as amusing that Mighty Mouse is fully in the Public Domain where Superman and Mighty Mouse are not. The sheer amount of things that people are not aware lie in the public domain is baffling in itself.

If one wishes to practice various creative crafts without risking ruination of one's own original characters prior to figuring everything out or if one just lacks the skill to create one's own characters even if one would make for an excellent staff writer, the means exist without having to go anywhere near anything falling under valid copyright or trademark. Zoro, Sherlock Holmes, The Three Stooges, The Time Machine, Popeye the Sailor Man King Kong, The Three Musketeers, The Portrait of Dorian Gray, any and any bit of mythology from any where in the world, you name it, if it predates the early 20th Century, it is no longer covered by copyright protection.

If more people were aware of these things that they have the legal rights to make use of as creative resources as part of everyone's shared cultural heritages, I have to wonder what remixes that people would dream up.

Watching this video makes me wonder how many young people have, if ever, been asked the question "Paper or Plastic?" or for that matter, realize that acting now just because one can without thinking through the consequences will inevitably lead to troubles that a new generation will be spurred into rapid action to deal with which will in turn create bigger problems down the line.

The comic book written around those consequences is almost perfect in how it encapsulates the unthinking fanatical nature of those who seek to change things for 'the better' without going through all of the bother of 'wasting time' learning more about the issue at hand before trying to fix a problem if there are no natural mechanisms for correcting imbalances over time.

The answer is simple both cost money so charge for both.

Life's too short to worry about destroying the planet, it's gonna get incinerated when the sun blows up in a few billion years anyways

Maybe to some people. There are those who was weaker after certain painful experiences and illnesses. I could tell you a lot about the actual virus's consequences that is forbidden subject in this forum. :)

Of course, it pays to bear in mind the author of that quote - Friedrich Nietzsche. Didn't he end up in an asylum?

Isn't that a thing with all philosophers?

Now, now. Nietzsche was one of the greatest minds the west has produced in the last two thousand years, certainly since the Neoplatonists. His entire life was blighted by a painful and debilitating condition and that quote should be understood in that context. His last eleven years, 1889-1900, were spent in an insane asylum.

He is one of my heroes because I learned a lot from him.
