Why are we beholden to game studios anyway? There is enough talent out there that the modding community could come together and create a completely new game for themselves. Then just let it build from there by allowing people to mod it. The biggest hurdle would be the leadership staying on task and limiting drama that will arise from time to time between departments. I've seen it done on a few games. It can be a slow process or is doesn't have to be depending on how popular it is.

For instance let's say the LL community got together and created an engine that is open source. The game idea itself would be a sex RPG and allows members to expand upon it or help out with testing. It could be donation driven as well as a kick starter.  We could get talent from all over the globe since it's based on sex. People like sex.

HEY GUYS! Remember when Bethesda said that CC content will need to be original content that hasn't been made before?

Well I follow Bethesda's Facebook page and they gave us a preview of the CC mods and prices. And guess what?

They have the Chinese Stealth Armor, Prototype Gauss Rifle, and handmade shotgun all three of which exists on the Nexus as a variation for free. The above stuff I mentioned are $1-$4.

Better download these mods before Bethesda forces the Nexus to remove them!!! Everything they have is either a retexrure or something that already exists....Bethesda is already lying up their asses about original and high quality content. Sure with time there will be something better but my hopes are not at all up.

Edit: And remember when people said that the dwarven mud crab armor was just a joke by Bethesda? Well it wasn't and it sells for 150 credits, a little more than $2.

All I can hope is that people are smart enough to vote with their wallets. In the end, money is the only effective way to send the message to these publishers that we don't want paid mods.

Personally I don't mind supporting the high quality mod makers, but I'm in no mood to give money to these money hungry companies.

The best part is every mod but four is something already available for free and is of objective and literally better quality.

Can't wait for Elianora's The House of Todd the Mountain Climbing Mage DLC, only 15.99 and completely incompatible with SMIM and a navmesh that CTDs if you have any landmass or worldspace mods installed

The Creation Club is likely the only way to make modding palatable for Sony.

However even Microsoft placed a hard cap on just how large a singular mod could be and also the amount of space in mods that could be allocated to a singular game.  That being 900 Megs for one mod and 5 gigs total in mods for a game.

It stands to reason from there that modding is being tightly controlled for the public on consol.

From what I understand there are no similar limitations on paid content owned by the publisher.

So whats it really about?

Well it would be very hard to remain competitive for other companies that don't have modding tools on offer, if modding just showed up totally free on consol to the degree that we enjoy it on the PC it would change the entire financial landscape in ways that could potentially be harmful for a majority of companies that make money on their "dlc swimwear, whatever, etc,...stuff that we take for granted on PC"

Consol's need companies to produce games and content to thrive....

Money gotta change hands, if no profit than there is no need to even make consol.

I realize you're trying to break into the industry, but as someone in the industry, I can tell you this is bunk.

This is about profitable exclusivity and microtransactions-for-lifetime, this is not about "surviving" anything.

Fuck Bethesda, honestly. I remember a time when they weren't whorish greedy shills trying to profit off the thing that made their games so popular. Idk if it is Bethesda or Zenimax that has been calling the shots recently, but whoever it is, they really have driven one of my favourite devs to the ground. I fucking loathe them to the point as Activision or EA now, and ironically both companies are looking much better than Assthesda now. Such a shame that I loved eveything Beth released, and loved the modding community even more for improving it.

Goes to show, money fucks everything up. Suddenly I don't feel so excited for the next TES release.

This never seemed any different than when they tried to make money off mods not too long ago.  No shocker here, whatsoever.  The only people that seem to have any reason to use this, in my opinion, are the people on PS4.  They might actually make some money that way.  I just think if you're successful, as they are, there really is no need for the greed.  Make the mods work for PS4 as they do for Xbox.  In the end, the people who are keeping your company going will appreciate it and return for further business down the road.

I'm not mad or ranting.  Fact is, it just looks like greed.

I love the tremor in his voice at 4:50, saying "are you kidding me?" Self-control at its best.

"You made a sandcastle of your own feces..."

Epic :D that about sums it up.

This is beyond pathetic in terms of what they could roll out. The Horse armor made me sigh until I slumped over.

I don't see them accommodating adult mods anyway...so screw 'em. And I prefer it that way.   They'd just try to censor it anyway.

Not sure how they could ever do so legally considering all the channels they would have to go through. Not to mention whenever you get the media and parents on another "video games are evil" crusade because there's virtual smut in a popular game. But yeah, I agree with you. Screw 'em.

>2015

>paid mods on workshop are mostly retextures and meshes

>2017

>mods that you pay for in Creation Club are solely retextures and meshes

They ought to fire their marketing team. Months of advertising, making false promises how the Creation Club will basically create employment for modders and you end up with this. I'm wondering whether Steam gets the 25% like it did before, because at least now they host the whole show on Bethesda servers.

That's yet another way to cater to console community which will probably buy it. If  you buy the story that 30 FPS is sufficient enough, you're probably dumb enough to pay for a camo pip boy mod anyway.

'CLAP......CLAP.........CLAP....CLAP' Let the raging begin, I am rolling all over the place right now in hysterical laughter. oh gosh, I gotta say that  ZENIMAX was fapping in a corner thinking we gonna make money. just WOW!!! another I done F$%^ed up point for ZENI.

To add on that, the furniture pack isn't even original content. I was watching yesterday evening's news as a replay on PC and well, at one point they showed this:

1504001336-vlcsnap-2017-08-29-09h55m07s0

The furniture presented here is the real-life version of the black furniture you're getting with that paid mod. AFAIK the maker of that furniture didn't exactly grant permission for the modder to reuse them as assets to be sold on the Creation Club. >.>

Knowing they hired Trainwiz I was hoping they would wait to have at least one mod with substantial content to offer before starting the CC but nooooo

Sadly I'm pretty sure all of this will sell regardless.
