I had someone hack my checking account back in 2017. The put my account on some kind of scam database where people could buy gift certificates to some sort of creepy sounding "mustache club" at my expense (I didn't want to look up finer the details of that "service", lol). Cleaned me out for over $900. Thankfully my bank concluded I probably did not take a road trip where I bought gift certificates to a facial hair grooming/fetish site all across the country and refunded my money.

King-Crimson Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Not quoting anyone - about our ecosystem: The problem is, that we have caused so much damage to different aspects of our ecosystem, that many points have become irreversible. - The oceans are slowly acidifying while also being polluted with oil, plastics, chemicals which get transported everywhere thanks to deep sea currents. - Fish and coral riffs are dying en masse, and not because of over-fishing anymore. And we still eat the polluted shit. - Plastic has become so omnipotent it's basically in our water and in our bodies, on an microscopic level. Scientists are currently researching what damage this might cause and they have already found out it can cause severe problems between the cells. Scientists are currently researching what damage this might cause and they have already found out it can cause severe problems between the cells. The risk is, this shit will make all of us unable to reproduce one day. And not just us but every living being on this planet. According to scientist's that out of the 980,000 species of animals and plants that have become extinct since 10,000 BC human activity has been the cause of only 1,200. And out of the 8 million currently considered endangered or threatened human activity is the cause of only 900. But ironically humans are being blamed for 83% by those exact same scientist's , sorry I just I don't see it. The oceans have acidified and became anoxic several times throughout the planets history which had been the result of volcanic activity. Which incidentally is exactly how much volcanic activity that is happening today. Pollution may have some effect but it's effects are negligible. And while the fish and other sea life are dying en masse it's due to the ocean becoming anoxic. Once again humans are not the cause. That's not to say it isn't important it is just that we are not the ones to blame. The damage to our own DNA started long before now when homo sapiens became the last human species around 40,000 yrs ago is when that started. We're in what's called the Dead Clade Walking category but once homo sapiens became the last human species we had only 2 choices stay in the caves and wait for eventual extinction or become technologically advanced enough to get off this planet and go else where to jumpstart our evolutionary process again we only have 2,000 yrs left to do it in. There is always a chance another human species will evolve out of nowhere like homo neanderthalensis or homo floresiensis did and give us the species diversity we need to stop our own extinction but that seems highly unlikely at this stage. In other words our DNA stagnated over 36,000 yrs ago and has been slowly breaking down since. As for climate change that is also a natural cycle the planet goes through we are actually in what is called the Late Cenozoic Ice Age (icehouse period) don't confuse it with the Quaternary Ice Age which was just a glacial period. Ice Ages are signified by having polar ice caps and in fact for most of the planets life the Icehouse periods only amount to only 20% as they tend to be shorter and the Greenhouse periods last nearly 3 times longer. The planet has been trending to a Greenhouse period for the last 10 million yrs long before humans where even around. The planet has always been in a cycle of Greenhouse and Icehouse we are not the cause of it and neither are we accelerating it. I used to believe that humans where the cause of all the extinctions of animals and plants and causing the greenhouse effect until I meet a rather stubborn person who no matter what I said wouldn't believe me and challenged me to get hard proven facts to convince him he was wrong. I went to do just that but after gathering and reading every single bit of scientific data I could find, I found I was wrong. I found it particularly annoying that those scientist's would say this is the cause and then totally discredit that later in their articles they wrote and sometimes in the exact same article. I mean seriously how do you go from saying humans caused 83% of the extinctions since 10,000 BC and then say out of 980,000 humans only caused 1,200 that doesn't sound like 83% to me. But anyway humans are not the ultimate boogeyman that they are being made out to be, in reality human activity to the planet is nothing more than that tiny little itch on the tip of your nose. All these things are natural events and necessary for the evolutionary advancement of life on this planet whether you like it or not. So even if humans decided to just stay in the caves and wait for their eventual extinction there still would've been 980,000 extinct plants and animals and 8 million would still be endangered or threatened, the oceans would still be acidifying and becoming anoxic and kill off the fish and other sea life and the planet would still be going through global warming in this day and time. But as an intelligent species we don't have to accept our demise we can leave this world go else where and restart our own evolution. And as for what pisses me off is the nitwit in the Whitehouse. I mean seriously how often can you stick your foot in your mouth and not learn when to keep something to yourself.

I have not seen real snow for more than 30 years. as a child about 1 meter snow, 5 meters high snowdrifts, Thuringia was a winter sports area, not anymore today, because the minus temperatures are no longer reached. 3. summer temperatures over 43 ° in the shade, this year was the record + 45 °! Normally here are 32 ° - 37 °.
GrimReaper Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Extinction level events happen because they happen, not because they're necessary. There's no advancement to evolution, no sense or purpose, it's just a process that happens. Whether or not the current climate change is such an event remains to be seen but the thing is that it's mostly the media that are sensationalist about it, scientists are usually much more calm about these issues. The threat for example isn't necessarily a few degrees more on average, it's that sooner or later, this will set off a chain reaction that can't be stopped that will be detrimental to the quality of human life. Certain regions won't be affected as much, others might become inhospitable in the long run which will cause severe economical and political consequences. Just think about what happens when middle and southern america or southern europe can't sustain human life anymore, people would flee in droves. Anyway, the media is responsible for the desensitization towards this topic. Appealing to emotion is much more lucrative than just telling the readers/viewers the dry facts about something, fear and hatred are usually the best selling ones. But nothing much has happened, we still have oil, we still have oxygen and we're not burning alive. Yet scientists have only been warning about the CHAIN REACTION that will EVENTUALLY lead to earth's climate spinning out of control. Which is a process that takes years and decades yet the media has always been 'OH MY GOD READ THIS TO LEARN HOW WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS'. When the reality was 'if we don't do something about this in the next 10 years the conequences for the next decades and centuries might be catastrophic'.
