Ah, cherry pickers.. yes, I have heard quite  a few of them with noise makers for movement. Not when raising though at least not that I remember. 

 

I can only assume that the people they expect to hire to use such devices are thought to be dumb or something. I am pretty sure they don't get paid as much as a crane operator and likely not as much as a professional truck driver. I could be wrong though. That cherry picker was able to lift stuff high enough to get to a roof of a house (not sure how high) but that is pretty high.

 

As for roof noise. I don't know what it is but if anything hits or such on the roof of a house (my house for example) it makes a shit ton of noise. Perhaps because it is a frame and not intended to be stomped around on. I imagine if someone hits the side of a typical frame house with 40 or more pounds of force it would seem quite loud. These were adults. Likely male and not weak so 160~240 pounds. That is a lot of force and weight on something not intended to have that type of weight on. (unlike a floor. I could be wrong though.

No such animal here.  Usually, I count it as a good thing.  Usually.  We've actually had discussions with the guy about light pollution, right after he moved in, and before he installed the lights.  In one ear and out the other, it seems.  The goofy part is that at the time, the other neighbor had already put her bright light in, and he was commiserating about it.  Then he put in lights that are easily twice as bad.  Fact of the matter is, he doesn't care.

Don't know.  Part of the problem is that they have these "marker" lights on the three pillars of their two car garage... that has white doors.  So it's the doors, in major part, that are reflecting the light and, I'd guess, effectively doubling what comes through our windows.  But the rest of it is the four beacons he has down the length of his driveway.  Now, it's a short driveway, so how he manged to stuff four into that length, I don't know, but when you add that to the three on the garage at the end of the driveway, his porch light, which may or may not be of roughly the same brightness, seems an afterthought and is easily missed.  It's ridiculous.

But that's nothing new around these parts.  My great aunt has a nice big community boatyard (not ours) across the water from her place.  One with huge great halogen lights lighting up the parking lot, the water, and the entirety of her house, just as we have.  Seems a pastime of those who move here: "How much light pollution can I create?  And to hell with what anyone else thinks, or how it might impact their lives!"

Had a visit with friends in the neighborhood for something, after dark.  What kind of people are they?  Well, when leaving, they'd turned the already dim-ish lights out before we'd gotten to the driveway.  THEY understand light pollution!  That's the kind of neighborhood this is.  Or should I say "mostly" is.

Bonus: A friend of mine who I visited right after she moved into her new house did the EXACT same thing to her neighbors.  Nice, quiet, dark neighborhood, and here they are with their friggin' lamp dead center in the middle of their yard, lighting up not just theirs but every other house in the area as well.  "Oh it makes me feel safe!"  Ummm, and fuck the neighbors? ??

Privately mumbling, I had a neighbor telling people I was a suspicious driller, but in actuality it's an air popcorn-maker that I'd use when I was hungry (days, nights, whenever I could get my hands on the bloody thing)

 

It gets very hot and seems to send a beacon to small bugs who love it and move in to raise kids.

Lost my printer to bugs, then it was the popcorn maker.....Anyway, I stopped using it, and eradicated popcorn from my diet.

This generation is making some really serious mistakes. The constant reform away from tradition (like proper history lessons) has given us only more losers. I just spent 45 minutes trying to find a nice causal game to buy. I've been 'exploring' over 8 (or was it 28) queues of 'games' in Steam and I'm coming to one simple conclusion: 99.9% of all games released today SUCK.

 

Now I realize why I have 3000+ (actually closer to 4k) hours of Fallout 4..

Googles increasingly inaccurate/unhelpful search results.

 

So I was looking for a totally innocuous Skyrim mod which I knew that existed. To be accurate a Skyrim mod on Nexus which only started Dawnguard if you had been to the Hall of the Vigilant once. So the term I put into google was :-

 

"skyrim delay dawnguard hall of the vigilant nexus"

 

The results for which were not even remotely helpful. Tried the same query in Duck Duck Go and the first two results were for the mod I was looking for, (LE and SSE respectively). I wouldn't be pissed off if this was the first time, but like I said its increasingly getting worse and worse to find stuff I know exists and have given reasonably accurate search criteria in order to find when using google.
