Any solutions for unremovable locked devices? Removing them by console is really immersion breaking, and i have to drop everything from inventory to search the right IDs.

Does anyone know how to make it so the Devious Devices gagged expressions continue after death? or even have gagged expression if they're spawned dead but with a ballgag equiped?

So I had been away from Skyrim for a while and while I was gone it seems all DD mods were combined into one and I missed this when I started downloading my updated mods. I downloaded this and installed it to fix SD+ not equipping stuff on me when I visited the dream realm, but now Whiterun is not accessible to me at all.  either I CTD shortly after entering, infinite load screen trying to enter or just lock up.  I am posting this here because this was the only change made.  Just seeing if anyone can tell me if it is a load order issue or a mod order issue in my MO2 list.  I started a brand new game after the change just to be safe.  In the load order list XX after the plugin means I do not have the plugin active and XXX mean it is deactivated because of the bashed patch.  I did run loot of course but i know it isn't perfect.  I have not noticed any issues in any other city in the game.

@lordhalmar You are missing a Bodyslide output mod at the end of your install order, needed for batch building everything. Other than that, you didn't say that it's a new game you tried with. You may not be able to continue old save after updating to DD 5, at least it's not guaranteed to work. Aside from that you have several script heavy mods in your list.

Oh not to forget you may need to redo bashed patch. (every time you add, remove or change a mod)

Is DD5 backwards compatible to DD4?

 

I have a couple mods that were never updated for DD5, primarily clothes/armour using the locking/unlocking scripts, so I wonder whether they might be breaking. I could probably fix them, giving enough time, but I'm lazy. (As indicated by me asking a question like this.) So before I break something, I'd rather ask how likely it is that they might still work.

 

I apologize for the question, because this has probably been asked a gazillion times before. LL's search function is suboptimal, however.

Yes.

Kimy was well aware (and not too happy as far as I could tell) that they had to keep this mod backwards compatible, just because there are so many mods out there that haven't yet, nor will ever be updated to the new framework. That's why it still comes in three esp's (four if you count contraptions in), although for the sake of this mod alone it wouldn't be necessary.

When you try to remove the rope corset, CTD occurs, his ID zadx_rope_harness_corsetExp_Penta_Inventory [ARMO:0E04EE2B]. This is the only such item with a problem, I thought it was a nif. The netscriptframework crashlog referred to the bone, but replacing the reference via the Outfit Studio bodyslide didn't help https://privatebin.net/?73babbed476eb7a7#6nbJVfcWAvwfnaUfraA97f4zzhYECwByeD9wDKXAqQip .

He was dressed by a script through the NPC and in itself does not cause a problem, it appears if I want to take it off.

Currently trying to DD5 up and running with a fresh install. SKSE says that it's loading but nothing appears in the mod configuration menu. Any advice?

Did you do the recommenden startup sequence? That is

Start a new game, wait for numerous MCMs to load, touch the MCMs (pretend to do something, or actually load saved settings), hard save, exit to desktop.

Resume, wait for some other MCMs to load. Now, and none sooner, DD should appear.

 

Your modlist looks okay as far as I can tell. When updating from and older version, did you check that no old scripts were left in the script folder? Shouldn't happen when using any mod manager, but as you're having problems, that's where I would look.

And, just asking daft questions because it happens: Are you aware that this mod still comes with 4 esps, and should replace all the old ones?

Well I narrowed it down to the "DD for him" option. I did several reinstalls with and without this option, and everytime I enabled it the mod failed to start properly. And since that esp also doesn't show up for me, I figure there's something fishy with the deployment in vortex (probably on my end). Don't know why but the rest seems to be working fine (though I haven't tested everything yet).

Ouch. I dimly remember that something was wrong with DD for him in 5.1, but as that's not my cup of tea, I didn't really pay attention. But I think that someone fixed that, so you might want to search this thread (preferably via Google) for the new esp (or whatever that was.) Or try DD 5.2 beta7 which should be quite stable (I'm on beta6 myself)

So what do you do when a device breaks for a save?

I've encountered an issue where Clitoris Shock piercing no longer behaves like a DD or even show up on the character when equiped.

Maybe if I had caught this when it first broke I could have simply reloaded, but that might very well be hundred of hours ago if such a save even still exists so not really an option.

Is that just the fate of this save or is there a way to repair it?

My suggestion wold be to check your inventory for unnamed script_instance item for the piercing. Having this in inventory and not worn breaks appropriate DD devices.

Open console, type "player.showinventory" and carefully scroll through all the items. You need to find ones without any names in them. When such an item found - simply player.removeitem it.

hi so I had some of the piercings equipped and after a devious cursed loot event where I had other things forcibly equipped, and I removed them with a universal key, the piercings have broken. when I equip them the dialog box to lock them on no longer appears and they just equip like a normal item, accept that they do not appear on my character. I have tried putting them in a followers inventory to fix them but when I did that they simple disappeared. please help me fix this. also all other piercing of the same kind are also broken like this now :(

This happens from time to time, and here's the stanndard procedure to get rid of items with a broken lock.

Every equipped DD item has a second, non-rendered item, which acts as lock fo the DD scripting - and sometimes it breaks. Non DD-aware mods that use some unequip all commands do this, but you don't need other mods to break it...

 

Go to any (preferably empty) chest/ container that you own and drop everything you can get rid of into it (to keep your inventory list short) - but keep the broken item.

Open the console, type player.inv and look for your piercings - and for a very similar ID, it's +/- 1 of the piercing's ID. That is the lock.

type player.removeitem <id> 1 to get rid of that lock, grab the stuff from your chest and be fine.

(or save before putting stuff in the chest, reload, and now remove the wrong lock)

unfortunately, this is not the issues. when i did what you said, there was only one id available for the broken items. using that to remove the item removes it from the list of equipped items. the items don't appear on me once there broken (when they did before they broke) and the dialog box for the lock part of them does not show up at all. the item just goes from unequipped in inventory, to equipped, but no other changes, no item appears on character, and no dialog box ever appears. 

 

in other words the "lock" is no longer attached to the item in script instances. 

the piercings work if put on npcs, however. as long as i have more then 1 of the item in my inventory, otherwise, the "lock" doesn't activate.

Use the SE version of the mod. The 5.2 beta version has the DLL included. If you want to use the stable 5.1 version, check on the VR thread for the DD VR DLL. You'll need to go there anyway, i think they have a no spin patch or something like that. Anyway, for details on VR compatibility, it's best to go there.

Might be an issue of your mod manager. Until DD5 I had been using the really old TESMM, which just wasn't able to handle this mod. Updating the MM only made things worse. Switched to Vortex then, but their last two releases are broken too, 1.5.11 was the last working version.

I ended up deleting my post, as it did eventually install, but it was weird, as my first three tried failed. I'm not 100% sure why it decided to just not install the first times or why it suddenly chose to install on my last attempt. but its working now.

I can't remember if there is a mod out there that will keep the mouth open around the gag in the showracemenu so I can adjust the face of my character around without have to keep leaving the menu to see if the setting changes work or not. Anyone know of anything?
