So maybe the problem appears mainly on W7 (though had it too on a netbook with windows XP recently), but it's probably not related to it. ?

Probably just unmaintained fonts on your W7/XP. ?

An older linux notebook where we don't bother to update fonts anymore has similar emoji problems. Nevertheless it's good enough to read LL :classic_laugh:

Edit: If t is nagging you too much, you could manually search and update your fonts/emoji definitions. It will take time to find the right page in the shitty M$ website, but you should still have a good chance to get it fixed.

  • Emojis broken - all monochrome again and the colon-code ( for example) doesn't resolve when post is submitted
  • Avatar images broken again (no avatar appears at all for people with images as their avatars)
  • Big square initial-letter "avatars" (for people who don't use images as avatars) are working but all monochrome

It seems like every UPgrade turns out to be the opposite- can we please DOWNgrade back to where we were prior to the last couple of days?

(imagine that I was able to insert a confused/dismayed emoji here)

I'm on W7 64-bit with SP1. Have done an update for several years.

I can see people's avatars and the capital letter thumbnails are all in the different colours.

No idea what this proves.

i recommend placing stronger restrictions on "Junior Member" accounts:

no file uploads of any kind & no website links,

and/or

all posts must be approved by staff before going live.

also maybe even make it so they can't start private messages.

Today, the single-letter colored-block avatars are back to normal, full colors, but no avatar images are showing up for me at all. This can't possibly be a Windows 7 Fonts issue.

have you tried clearing your history?

No, I'm working with my Referer Control addon to find a filter setting that allows LL to see where I'm coming from but blocks where I'm coming from when I'm on LL trying to see an Imgur image (and/or other sites that blacklist LL, if any). It's trickier than I had initially thought and may be what is blocking image avatars. Not sure yet.

? That sounds like quite a burden to a very limited ressource.

So, I guess purely technical solutions woud be the preference.

that is censorship, or curtailment of all rights on a free website!
everyone who has been here longer has self newly started!
was ever a contribution (as a new member) from you blocked or not approved?
I can not remember that this was ever the case!
Oh but, nasty comments. :classic_laugh:

Restrictions on new accounts? Has there been cases of trolling recently? I don't know about you, but I find people oddly pretty convivial here, not sure if it's just because erotic content tends to attract more "open-minded" people or what.

We have an insistent troll in the DOA section since several weeks. And you are wrong: just like it may attract open-minded people, it can also atract the opposite people that would burn this site if they could: the several flavours of moralists, normal trolls, copyright trolls, anti-modders, etc,

I'm with with MadMansgun: place a restriction on new members. The only penalization for legit new users would be waiting a bit for their posts to appear, I don't see any issue with that, other sites have the same thing and there is no drama.

things that have happened in the past 365 days:

1. spam bots....lots of them.

2. fake accounts made to look like staff members (some crazy self entitled fucker was attacking the site because the mods here let people have sex with his favorite follower, or some other stupidly retarded story like that)

3. some other nut job (that my post was actually a reply to) that apparently got banned for posting child pornography keeps making new accounts and posting ads for cancer sticks.

no it's standard spam control, it's a common practice on many websites to restrict accounts until after they have made 10-25 posts to prove that they are legit.

I have already reported multiple, Spam - Contributions and to let removed.
but that's not what it's about, many new members have only now become 18+, who might need help or want to write something!
should these new members first 6 months be here member, before they are allowed to write a contribution?
This is not conducive to Loverslab!
every new member deserves a chance.

a "Junior Member" becomes a "Member" with the number of posts they make, it's not time based, and it has never been time based as far as i know.

Eg: on Kerbal Space Program's forum i have had an account there for many years, but i have only ever made 2 posts there so i still count as a "Curious George", that means my posts still need to be approved by the staff before they will show up on the site.

is me too high, here there are also members who have been members for many years and have not written any post yet.
when they now started writing, then a moderator should check this post?
holy shit, what a job for the moderator team, to check every post!
it would have pass weeks until this post is approved!

edit: second gif, not meant offensive, it only shows that a moderator would have to check thousands of posts throughout the day! :classic_laugh:

I'm on W7.

I'm having some minor weirdness with emojis since the last upgrade business. Some have disappeard, i.e. no longer available; some are in negative ouline. Some just appear as, say, colon, right bracket in the post but will appear correctly in a quote of that post.

Today, all emojis work as expected except the kissy lips, which work but are monochrome. Kind of a GreyCloud color. Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO!

So since the forum's kissy lips are so anemic, I'll send you my own:

It's not the forum- it's imgur.com, which blacklists 3rd-party referrals from loverslab.com. Install Referer Control and set a filter on imgur.com as follows:

TO / 3RD PARTY / CUSTOM / TARGET HOST. It will look like this when you do:

RefControlImgurFilter.png.ed4caf5608a93d7dc04e629fa4e2105a.png

This seemed to fix it for me.

I see your point and understand. I truly do. I have been on the receiving end of some of "those" people/members.

However, I won't make any suggestions on posting or action restrictions on the site. The reason is, I am not the one that has to clean up all the shit that is created by those that want to "watch the world burn" or whatever the most popular meme is today. If the site admin/moderators have to clean up the mess/shit, then they should be the ones to place the limits on the access and post counts of new members. Besides that, there are negative sides to restrictions and the harder and more restrictions placed and/or longer it takes for a new member to fully engage the community.. the more likely they will get frustrated and leave. Potential loss in membership but also possible loss in future mod authors/content being created and / or hosted on this site.

It is a duel edged sword that has to be carefully considered. As much as I would also like these issues to be resolved, I will leave it to the admin/moderators to address for the above reasons.
