its 200 years after nuclear holocaust ... green not so much :P

Nukes broke the ecosystem.

But personally I would like to see Fallout Tactics 2 revived. It had cool ideas like jungle and crododile-men tribals.

Hiroshima has recovered well, and Chernobyl is incredibly green. Plants can recover and thrive even in high radiation areas, unlike humans and other mammals.

I hope someone makes a mod to put more trees into the game. Radiation doesn't kill trees, look at the Chernobyl area.

You beat me by one hour.

I think it was more likely the thermonuclear blasts that destroyed the trees/plant life then there being radiation present.

Plus what is their to pollinate any plants that survive? Most if not all creatures have been twisted and mutated, while others have just been whipped out completely.

And you can't forget the temperature changes a few degrees in one direction and thats it, dead.

The ecosystem is a delicate global thing, quite frankly if as many bombs fell as was suggested, how did the planet not tear its self apart.

That said, i wouldn't complain at more interesting/different locations.

But pointing at Chernobyl and saying "There are trees here therefore nuclear Armageddon is nothing." Is a bit simplistic.

hiroshima and nagasaki  2 bombs..... nuclear holocaust thousands of bombs just saying, I also wouldn't mind seeing green landscapes and the like. but the reason hiroshima is coming back around is because areas around it still have seed , insects and birds to transport with the wind life to a devastated area.

I did notice the complete lack of greenery in the trailers, unfortunately. The real reason is probably "artistic choice." But it brings up all sorts of problems (which I had with FO3) about where people and animals get their crops from.

I really hope they drive a little harder for verisimilitude and explaining how people/communities are able to exist and thrive in the post apocalyptic world. FO3 really fell ridiculously short of that and the suspension of disbelief being broken for me was one of the major gripes I had with the game.

We'll see I guess...

yeah I guess the question of global destruction versus city destruction makes a difference . oh wait that was what i was getting at.

IE if there is nothing alive anywhere uhm nothing lives anywhere.

Once again just being silly here. trying to kill time till i get to play this fucking game :P

Exactly. It's hard to incorporate realism in this state because we have not had a first hand experience in a post-apocalypse. Thus, to me I believe Bethesda went with this route (even though 200 years for me has always been a far bit too off, would of made more sense 50 years after the bombs fell but what ever) to keep the wasteland feel intact and go along with it. Which makes sense, because we don't want to see humanity rebuild too fast now do we? To a certain extent sure. Like Fallout 4 and the Institute. But an ongoing war with humanity and no real law to put people in order so to some extent I can believe that a world like this would be full of anarchy and people trying to govern with dictation.

I do myself. I think Vault 21 was a very special place to explore. The whole vegetation thing worked out great. It looks good having foliage mods too. Though I haven't tried vurts NV version. But for NV I would go more with a devastation appearance.

I think a mixture of both would be nice for the vanilla game. I mean if it's going to be larger than Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 was larger than Skyrim, I'd hope they would do something like that. I can't imagine just exploring the whole world looking at the same type of landscape.

chernobyl was a melt down not an explosion but i am the dog chasing the tail . last word on it from me is nuclear winter a bazillion cubic tons of dirt tossed into the air  blotting out the sun = party time fallout style.

Technically there was both a meltdown and an explosion. The reactor fuel melted and a steam explosion damaged the reactor casing, literally ripping off the reactor's top and tearing a hole in the building reactor 4 was housed in. The explosion, along with subsequent fire, distributed radioactive material through the massive hole in the roof and into the surrounding area.

OK back to what i am excited about the sound tracks ! I am praying for more Dean martin >:) , maybe they can get some Frank Sinatra . I just hope for a good mix of songs and maybe more than 20 or so they had for  FONV.

I doubt it because Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin pertain to mafias in Las Vegas, which made sense their music was in New Vegas

yeah royalties are a pain .I am hoping for some everly brothers maybe some buddy holly or even rosie and the angels :P . I really just hope they put some effort and money into it.

My kids think i am a bit cooler since some of my old fuddy duddy music i sometimes play is in a pc game !

I just wish for much more soundtracks so it's not too repetitive.

The only way houses, cars, billboards and friggin' tents? could survive over 200

years of neglect would be if the world was a much, much drier place. Therefore,

not much vegetation anymore. I also don't believe there would be much left above

ground if there was much in the way of active weather. I remember watching the

excavation of a crashed British fighter from WW2, and it got buried FIFTY FEET

underground during the 70 odd years before it was dug up. That was in the UK.

Of course there was a WW2 plane that crashed in the desert in Africa, and it was

still sitting right out in the open - little to no rainfall in the intervening years..

I'm willing to suspend any disbelief about how many things would really survive,

because the game would be boring to look at if all the cool old stuff was gone ;)

I really do hope they manage to sneak in a small forest or two, regardless of realism. I love the series to death but those 50000 shades of brown are getting really old.

I just watched and read some facts about the Fallout series. It said that the vaults were never built for the survival of man but rather to subject the ones that entered the vault to all sorts of experiments. from social to biological. One vault had 999 males with only one Female and another with 999 females and 1 male. One vault was told that they had to sacrifice 1 vault member every year or they would all die. they followed this until there were only 5 members left 1 female and 4 males and those 5 decided not to kill anyone anymore, that is when the computer revealed that the entire experiment was a setup between Vault-Tec and the Government and that there defying of the rules was all that was required to end the experiment. 4 of the 5 1 female and 3 males decided to commit suicide rather then live with the knowledge they had murdered all those people over so many years. in order to hold all people in Vaults it would have required Vault-Tec to build 400,000 vaults to house 1000 each, they only built 122. and many other messed up things. Of course many people already knew these things but I did not. That's really messed up.

Read this a couple of weeks ago, it really is messed up :D

Shoddycast has some great videos talking about the Lore of Fallout, here is the one talking about the vaults

Most of that is actually Bethesda addons in Fallout 3, in Fallout 1 it seems the vaults work as they should except for 13 having a faulty water chip (the one other vault you find other than where you get the water chip was opened and the people of Shady Sands which eventually became the foundation of the New California Republic came from this vault), in Fallout 2 you find a huge surplus of water chips in one vault that was sent there accidentally, and learn that all the vaults were supposed to get a GECK, though only the one Vault City comes from is known to have used theirs, and finding a GECK for your village is the only way to save them by revitalizign the Wasteland. Fallout 3 expanded on that saying that it was intentional from Vault-Tec's side that 13 got a faulty waterchip meant to run out after a while and the other vault got a surplus of them, only a very few vaults got a GECK (the ones meant to succeed, like the one Vault City came from), the vault with the artists had subliminal messages over the speaker system that turned them insane, one vault was based on cloning but made nothing but clones of a guy named Gary, and so on and on. Mostly the vaults that held Vault-Tec personell and government people were faultless, while some like Vault 101 (and in some versions 13) were "Control vaults" meant to never reopen simply to make sure that humanity would keep going.
