Luminar Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Oh I know it'll be aweful I was just getting tired of how many posters in threads will bring up those 3 titles and say Fallout has to have this waah. But looks like someone beat me to it, found a thread on the Fo4 Forum haha. You know what's sad is that bethsoft is the same company that couldn't resist covering temples to the nine divines with naked women and put the following text in-game: They settled into Rifton for the winter, taking a cheap room in the slums. Barenziah joined the Thieves' Guild, knowing there would be trouble if she were caught free-lancing. One day in the barroom she caught the eye of a known member of the guild, a bold young Khajiit named Therris. She offered to bed with him if he would sponsor her for membership. He looked her over, grinning, and agreed, but said she'd still have to pass a test. "What sort of test?" "Ah," Therris said. "Payment first, sweet thing." He put an arm around her, leaned over and kissed her, thrusting his tongue deep into her mouth and his free hand into her shirt. "Nice," he said presently, withdrawing his tongue, but not his hand. His other hand slid down inside her waistband and fondled her buttocks. "Let's go upstairs. We can use my room," Barenziah felt both embarassed and excited by his boldness. Therris grinned insolently. "Why bother? You want me, don't you? I'll bet you'd pay me, wouldn't you?" "No," Barenziah said. She did want him, but not that badly. "No? Well, a bargain's a bargain and Therris keeps his word. But here. Now." He hiked her skirt up and pulled her onto his lap so she sat astride, facing him. He opened her shirt and pulled it down on her shoulders so that her breasts were exposed. "Nice pair, kid." She was facing the wall but she could feel the stares of the other patrons. A hush had fallen over the place. Even the bard had stilled. She felt both nausea and a hot burning desire. Her hands released his turgid penis and then it was inside her and she was screaming in both pain and ecstasy. Then everything went black. When she came to herself again she was sitting beside Therris, who was buttoning her shirt. "That hurt!" she said indignantly. "Always does, kid. Didn't anyone ever tell you about Khajiit men? It hurts good though, now doesn't it?" Barenziah scowled at him. She was still smarting. His penis had tiny little barbs on it. "Well, the deal's off, if you like," he shrugged. "No, I didn't say that. Only I prefer privacy, and I want to wait awhile, like a day or so before the next time." Therris laughed. "You're OK, kid."
Jexsam Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 You know what's sad is that bethsoft is the same company that couldn't resist covering temples to the nine divines with naked women and put the following text in-game: Fun Fact: Daggerfall was originally slated to have a prostitute's guild complete with one or more generic sex scenes. But the idea got cut before anything of meaning was implemented. References to it can be found in the game's code, and the art for it is claimed to still exist in some guy's desk, locked away nice and tight. This was back in a time where PC gaming was both very niche and very much a wild frontier. The overwhelming majority of people who played them were adults, so naturally most of the games made were for adults. I didn't fact check this next statement but IIRC things like Daggerfall and Doom predate the ESRB.

Here's something that is cool for Fallout Fans. This is a You Tube series by a group known as Shoddycast that I just found yesterday. The video's are about 12 minutes each and there are 36 of them covering much of the Lore represented in all of the games to date. https://www.Youtube.com/watch?v=nvqm_pPD-aQ&list=PL7pGIQV-jlzD17YNNbt103xp0PkkUCoPU
Redflyingmonkey Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 ESRB was brought about in 1994, Doom was released in 1993 but Daggerfall was released in 1996. Only Doom predates ESRB Night Trap and the first Mortal Kombat were a few of the reasons behind the ESRB being implemented because of the violence and also you know sexual content because of the OUTCRY which is weird being that the games were made for adults by adults but bitchers gotta bitch LOL. The two Duke Nukems in 91 and 93 too and that old video game where all you had to do was crush people with your car too, forgot the name of that one.
Arhon Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I hope someone makes rid-able bikes or automobiles. I dont mind walking around the whole map but... come on...
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I'll skip that because it'll more than likely be clunky like the stuff in Fallout 3 and New Vegas have been. I'll just put a transit from one major town and use it as a fast travel method to take me to another major town. And disable the map fast travel all together. Because lets face it, that feature has to go.

I wouldn't want fast travel gone at all unless there was a good alternative in place (such as what Morrowind had).
Sacremas Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Washington DC. 68.3 sq. miles (FO3) Boston MS. 89.63 sq. miles (FO4) yeah I'll stick with fast travel once I've covered the map. always been a sucker for exploration but once it's covered there's no point. and by that time there should be other modes of travel in place. Also just found this. Who knew real bottle caps could get the game on release day. http://www.cnet.com/news/bethesda-grants-gamers-wish-to-pay-for-fallout-4-with-real-bottle-caps/ Nice, I saw that when he first sent the box of caps, great that it actually worked! Good show (and publicity) for Bethesda.
Redflyingmonkey Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Nice marketing there ! Why didn't I think of that too, I must've collected around 700 beer bottle caps...

Though, only when I'm bored not when I'm actually game playing. it should be a mod feature rather. An alternative is a must. keeps the game staying true to the exploration. Who knows they do have you ride a vertibird so that could possibly take you anywhere you want. It's just gonna suck when you have like 20 followers with you. They're on foot chasing the virtbird.
Sacremas Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Gameplay trailer showed the dog getting into the Vertibird with you. Obviously it won't have room for 20 followers in there, but something is wrong if you're walking around with 20 followers anyway. Don't expect it to work for maybe more than four followers at a time, wouldn't be surprised if it's only one like vanilla Skyrim.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Hey nothing wrong with giving your family a tour over Boston. Pilot's gotta make his caps some how. Though, the tour thing would of been better for New Vegas since we do have those Vegas tours out here.
Gameplayer Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Vanilla system for followers I thought was confirmed, 1 animal and 1 sentient companion at a time....So 2 companions tops...until modded anyway. So does a child count as an animal companion lol
Sacremas Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 No but something like an Eyebot probably will. Though with ED-E being such a big part of New Vegas it's unlikely such a companion should show up, same with robo-dog. Deathlaw baby kthanxbai! EDIT: Though what about the Mr Handy family robot, that's confimed as a follower, is that creature or NPC?
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I believe turrets are classified as creatures in GECK. So I would think any type of mechanism/robot would be the same. But if we are going to use CK, it's going to be much different than the previous GECK. I'm not sure how Oblivion was but I saw Skyrim has a shitton of races. Creatures falling under races instead of a creatures tree section. So I'm going to assume that the characters and creatures for Fallout 4 will be handled in races as well.
Sacremas Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 That's a good assumption, there will probably be like "robot race" that includes mr handys, synthetics of the type in the trailer (not the Replicated Man type probably), ghouls, supermutants, etc. With how chargen is done now I'm not sure if a "caucasian" and "hispanic" race is needed anymore however like it was in FO3.

But you can't use fast travel before exploring in the first place, what's the point of exploring and re-exploring the same pathway to the hubs you'll be visiting over and over? Imagine having to walk all the time from Megaton to Rivet city or from Primm to Freeside and how much it would alienate pretty much everyone safe for a few hardliners. And I don't agree with your notion of the game staying true to exploration. That's not a genere, Fallout is RPG and sandbox and thus while exploring is something I actually really like myself, players should have the freedom to be able to move fast through what's going to be Bethesda's yet biggest map.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 That's because you are used to fast travel. I can't use fast travel all the time because it just speeds up my play through and defeats the purpose playing the game. Having it at your disposal all the time just makes people rush their game and what's the point of playing a game if your going to rush it? Having to run to a large settlement and pay some person to take you to another place that's close to the area you need to go to do some quest or to go explore seems more reasonable. But that's me.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 That was meant for Nixea but I get what you mean. I'm probably going to use a fast travel remover for this one.
GrimReaper Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Fast Travel was kinda needed in Skyrim because the radiant quests chose random locations all around the map, meaning a quest you got in Riften could require you to walk to Markath, for example. The game was designed with the thought in mind that players use quick travel and it shows, imo. Hopefully FO4 will make it better.

See, I actually agree with that. I'm fine with no fast travel as long as there's an alternative that's not prohibitively costly. For me removing fast travel just because some people don't like it but have no willpower not to use it is like removing the console to avoid cheating. It's all about player's choice. You choose how hard and immersive you want the game to be, and how you want to approach exploration and travel. The interesting thing about Skyrim is that although the radiant stuff was indeed made with heavy use of fast travel in mind, carriages were also present as an alternative. If we could have something similar on that price range and more locations, I'd be fine with no fast travel.
