Nixea Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 @Redflyingmonkey: I'm not a *fan* of Black Desert, in fact I never play MMOs, let alone Korean ones, but I like certain features of it. Maybe you should shut the fuck up about things you have no idea about. THIS. We agree then. How about changing "things you have no idea about", but to Fallout 4 which only has a trailer and some minutes of gameplay so far ? I have not talked about anything other than the things I saw in E3 trailers for Fallout 4, and that's something I have an idea about. If you think that my interpretation of it is wrong, why can't you let it exist as "just another opinion"? Even if all of my posts were nothing but mindless bashing of the game or its developer, what's it to you anyway? See where I'm getting at? Probably not. See the post where I talked about fanboys and their common responses. Oh, you're not a fanboy huh? Well, then you are nothing but a good old troll. That is called a checkmate, and I so long to read you explain to me how much we know about this game from 3 minutes of actual gameplay. Please though, you're fanboying all over the place for BD, as your profile pictures shows, and as your posts in the Black Desert topic shows. But whatever, let's stop at "you should shut the fuck up about things you have no idea about", there is a clear consensus here.Oh, so posting about a game makes one a fanboy, huh? Even if I have clearly stated that there are things I liked and disliked about the game. My previous avatar was from Skyrim, a game which I've criticized passionately since day one, so am I a Skyrim fanboy now, after having used that avatar for a few years? I'm afraid the consensus here is that you have no idea of what you're talking about. @GrimReaper: You choose "A: Get food" dialogue option, hoping to get some food obviously, why else would you choose that otherwise? What does your character say instead? "Sure, I need a minute to think", and doesn't get any food. What I'm trying to say is that it's almost impossible to predict where these options of two or three word sentences will take you. That's the reason why I said... How anyone can construct a meaningful dialogue with sentences that contain only a few words is beyond me. You know, for someone that complains and speculates about dumbed down games you display an amazing inability to watch a simple presentation. And you didn't even bother to check if you misheard things, no, you just open your mouth and words come out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWuwLSFmATI Around minute 6 the dialogue about food starts. The MC is obviously confused by being gone for 200 years and the robo-butler asks if he wants some food. Still confused, he says: What, Food? Yeah, sure, I guess. I need a minute to think. The robot then proceeds to hover into the house to get something to eat. The Main character says yes to the food but didn't magically forget that he apparently was gone for 200 years. The dialogue has a coherent mood and doesn't switch magically from oh shit what's going on to something else. You know, I think that dumbed down games might actually be just the thing you want, without even realizing it. You didn't even get it, did you? Talk about a "coherent mood" in the dialogue, with options like "Get Food", "No Food". Bet you still don't get it. Never mind then. @DoctaSax: A good dialogue system is the one that lets you say precisely what you want to say, and precisely how you want to say it and it is not this one. Show me a single game that has this. There have been plenty of games, even the previous titles in Fallout series are better than this. All they had to do is to improve on the dialogue mechanics they already had, instead of dumbing down for consoles. Typical reaction. Positivity = fanboyism. Actually, this is one of the typical responses I get from fanboys, they never accept being one, naturally. Some other typical responses I get from fanboys are "Shut up!", "If you don't like the game, don't play it!", "We don't want to hear your criticism, go create your own hate thread!". Criticize anything they like and they take it personally. Criticism equals negativity for them. I never have any problem with people opposing my ideas with rational arguments and I never try to silence them or attack them. Only the fanboys "derail" these threads. Yeah, sure, it's the fanboys that do this, not the people calling beth amateurs because they haven't developed an unholy blend of mind reading what every single player wants their character to say and how to say it at any given time to anyone, and an AI so advanced it can have NPCs react to all that in a sensible manner. That's not criticism, it's reaching for something negative to say. Let's assume it is. Is there a rule against speaking about something in a negative manner, expressing dislike or even hate? Doubt it'll work, but still something that shows at least some people aren't happy with some of the changes: https://www.change.org/p/bethesda-softworks-take-out-the-voiced-playercharcter-and-dialogue-wheel-out-and-put-skills-back-into-fallout-4?lang=en-GB From Bethsoft forums to Neogaf or Reddit, many people, including actual Fallout/Bethesda fanboys express their dislike about the new dialogue system, who am I to argue. http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1522278-amount-of-dialogue/ http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/fallout-4-dialogue-wheels-are-in-skills-are-out.99563/ http://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3a4adz/fallout_3nv_vs_fallout_4_dialogue_examples/ http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=167961475 Dialog angst and the righteous quest to fight the good fight against intentionally obscure features from a yet unreleased game: The sequel
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Simple solution is just ignore someone who bothers you. I'm not condoning trolling or hate but this is a place to discuss freely on opinions. I like Fallout and I am a fanboy of Fallout 3. I don't like NV and I am well aware people know that from my bickering in the past, but in the end it's just my opinion. Take it or leave it. But if it's truly a bother, there is settings to ignore users posts. And it's better to just ignore than ongoing replies to someone who annoys you. I recently did because I can't seem to comprehend testosterone imbalance at a young age on someone who's never even gotten laid, but hey, that's my opinion. @ Bjornk I don't think that change.org will do anything. I think it's pretty set in stone now. And that's probably why they didn't reveal Fallout 4 till it's near completion. Uh-Oh! P2M could have the very same impact so caution is advised.
GrimReaper Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 @GrimReaper: You didn't even get it, did you? Talk about a "coherent mood" in the dialogue, with options like "Get Food", "No Food". Bet you still don't get it. Never mind then. Sorry pal but that wasn't the point you were trying to make. You complained about that the character just said 'I need a minute to think' when the option 'Get Food' was picked which simply wasn't true. And yes, the dialogue has a coherent mood - the MC is pretty fucking confused about being gone for 200 years. The robot asking you if you want something to eat doesn't change that. It's just like the TellTale games. A dialoge starts with a certain mood - someone could be confused, angry, sad and so on - and then you are presented with a few keywords and those keywords are translated into sentences by your character. Sentences that acknowledge the mood in some way or another.
Hamguy31 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Dont worry, the Bethesda website is for Console mods only, modding works the same way as it does in skyrim. but you can expect Microsoft and to charge for mods like the money grubbers they are. And the console mods will be heavily restricted by red tape and copyright. which will suck out all the life of mods, modding is supposed to be free. That is why i left console, the entire environment was restricting and i couldn't breath, i was forced to play what some asshole wanted me to play and i couldn't change anything to my liking. so i went back to pc.
bjornk Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 @GrimReaper: You obviously expect the game to play out like a TellTale game, pretty much an interactive movie. In those, so called "games", you don't need wordy dialogue options and it doesn't really matter what the character actually says, as long as it is coherent with the mood that you assumed because in those games, it is all about maintaining the cinematic storytelling, you only choose how you want to continue with the story. This is precisely what I don't want in Fallout as I have no interest in their cheap ass story. For anyone who wants to role-play in a sandbox game, this kind of a dialogue system will no doubt be an annoyance. When I choose a dialogue option, I don't want my character to "act" for me, especially in an unpredictable way, or say things that I don't intend to. Unfortunately with the voice acted protagonist this is inevitable now.
Lazy Leno Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 fallout 4 skill calculator jynx I know the lady killer and black widow perks are returning but nothing hinting a cherchez la femme or confirmed bachelor I think bethesda will give us the option to either talk about our family or not I don't think they would force the player character to miss the loss of the family at least i hope that is the case What's with the number of SPECIAL stats? I can only give enough to get each to an average of 4. Usually it's 5 each + 5 spare.
GrimReaper Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 It's actually quite important what the character says in those games. And TellTale games are more like a book, there's no cinematic anything because everything looks bland and boring at best. They get praised for story and atmosphere, not cinematic storytelling, that's what Bioware does with Mass Effect, for example. It's not like it's a downgrade from FO3, because what we've seen from the presentation, FO4's dialogue mops the floor with the dialogues from FO3, those were horrible. The how doesn't affect the what, so a shitty story and badly written dialogue won't get better when you got a bazillion options to chose from and good story and dialogue won't magically become bad if you are presented with limited options. The only game that had memorable story and dialogues anyway was Planescape: Torment, most other RPGs are just pretentious and have overxposed characters to the point it feels like you are interacting with people that just exist to tell you things.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Well if enough people complain and sign the petition, they may change it. That'll be a lot of money wasted and They'll want to recover it somehow. It's going to involve a lot of work to remove all of it and redo the whole thing. Which means if they do decide to cut it from the game, it's going to take longer to release the game. But I don't think they'll remove it/ They've spent way too much time developing this game to the point it settled. I'm okay with either. But I am sick of my pc silent. I guess if they let us choose a variety of voice options and give us back the dialogue tree while having the PC read out what ever dialogue you choose would be a better option.
Gameplayer Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Dang I just wish they didn't say anything about Fo4 since its going to be November 10 ! It's just too much time.
Redflyingmonkey Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 People thinking they can change game features from what they've seen of it in it's teaser/trailer = lol, big time lol. Like so out loud I created a second voice which lols too so we can both lol in synch and make a lolchestra. Wait, people thinking they can change a BETHESDA game feature from it's trailer with a petition. Wow it's a loltrio, we're gonna be so famous I'll call it "Lol and Lol and fucking Lol".
Gameplayer Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Fallout 4 Is essentially feature complete. I hate to break that to you but what you saw is what your getting,.. So what are we waiting on. Likely what we're waiting on is Beth Net out in November, Mod Kit (December - Quarter 1 2016), and optimization/bug fixes. Other than that who knows but major overhaul requests are not going to be possible.
Redflyingmonkey Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Man don't tell them let them dream, it's funnier that way. Maybe next they'll make .. Demonstrations against game demos ? Lmfao
Redflyingmonkey Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I know right ? It's a freaking witch Sabbath dance party down here. With so many soothsayers we could start our own telephone service here at loverslab. "Hello, I would like to speak with my dead sister please." "Yes yes, she says FO4 will suck balls ! That'd be 2$ per call by the way"
DoctaSax Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Let's assume it is. Is there a rule against speaking about something in a negative manner, expressing dislike or even hate? #7 always works in a pinch. That's twice in this thread already someone tries to shut me down by implying I'm censoring them. When I actually do, you'll know.

What? How is he threatening anyone? He is simply stating a fact, it's pretty easy to notice when the staff has taken action against you. If he *did* want to censor someone, that someone wouldn't be able to complain about it because he wouldn't dick around threatening people, he'd just do it.
Buddy Christ Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Well, rule #7 states something about "bickering" and "drama queen", just saying....
bjornk Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Well, rule #7 states something about "bickering" and "drama queen", just saying.... And you seem to get away with it just fine.
Kaz Aanh Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Just a reminder to apply and help rebuild this faction to its former glory, don't waste time. Enlist now.
wulfgear09 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I just heard the release date is going to be pushed back due to someone wanting a more expressive dialogue tree?
Gameplayer Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Changed the name of the Thread, since Fallout 4 is confirmed the Title just didn't seem right anymore.
Vioxsis Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Changed the name of the Thread, since Fallout 4 is confirmed the Title just didn't seem right anymore. Shouldn't the thread name be something more like, "4 button dialogue option!?!; an why am i married with a kid?? they best be dead and forgotten by the beginning." You know, to better reflect the discussion going on.

Sinister Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Wow, now I remember why I don't visit forums more often lol, anyway for what it's worth I will buy the game, I will play the game and if it's shit.......so be it, then I'll mod it until it isn't.
