@xaz - A small issue to report (not a really a bug but worth reporting). When I was arrested in Riften in the middle of the night, I was marched down to the local prison only to be stopped by a locked door.

I had to lockpick my way into the jail (even thought my hands were tied). Ok... that's a workaround.

The wierd thing is that the door was still locked on the way back (after serving time)!!

Since I had to lockpick left, I had to pickpocket my way out of a prison after serving time.

In regards to voices I'm sure there's a few vanilla voice recordings you could use for some. Like the boo's from the Solitude execution. Probably a few others but it's easy to not pay attention to lines when you're so used to hearing them.

As for Whiterun's pillories, placing them on either side of the well might not be bad either.

If you've already considered the suggestions above, apologies!

I take that as a 'no' to my suggestions then D:

Sometimes I don't respond to everything even when I read it. That doesn't mean I didn't read it or that I don't agree. I read everything that's posted in this thread, but I don't always respond.

Usually because I forget, because I'm already responding to some other thread of discussion.

Edit: Forgot to respond ... anyway, time permitting, I'll have a look at the vanilla sound assets and see what I can use. Regarding moving pillories, I'll probably experiment with pillories in a lot of cities soon, so may move around pillories in Whiterun at that time too.

An old issue. Best way out is the first time you visit Riften go talk to the guard near that locked door. He'll unlock it and won't lock it again.

Disclaimer First: Sorry if I don't answer all posts in between here and this post. I will read them, or may have done so already. You're not being ignored because you don't get a response right away.

...

I'm investigating further into the ctd issues. So far I've eliminated time scale changes, because the crash appears to happen without those. Crashes so far either when autosaving in the cell (waiting for morning) or after release.

If anyone else has more info, please share. Saves me having to do all the testing myself, not to mention how I'm probably missing things ...

Lol.

Cheers. Yeah there is a few that could be used in addition to the silent lines, just to add some variety. I'll keep an ear out and try to remember some that I hear and then note 'em down here.

Been running the SKSE script clearing for a while now, haven't got imprisoned after yet though. Could the CTD be somehow related to the jailer? He/she seems to leave the jail once you're freed. I was messing around in Riften earlier, last save I did that worked was just before the jailer opened the cell to whip & release. Didn't actually try saving during the walk to the chests though. I tried saving in couple of different places after release. Still in the jail, near the chests, crash. Outside the Riften jail (noticed the jailer standing next to my toon on crash), crashed. And 3rd inside the mistveil keep, went in right after being released.

After those 3 crashes I ran around Riften for a while doing quests & selling stuff and then fast traveled elsewhere, could save again without crashing. Somehow I got the impression that the jailer was somewhere near or just left when the game crashes.

Noticed that some variables keeps their values after removing scripts from game or even after cleaning saves.

Saves can't be cleaned. At least not the way most people think, it can be done. As someone from Bethesda stated: There is no real clean save.
You can just free it from some stuff/errors. That's all to it. That's why you better be carefull, installing and uninstalling mods on your save game for regular gameplay.
Most scripts and their variables will forever be a part of the savegame, even after removing the mod.
Don't know if PO does default its variables on first initialization/on update, but i guess it does, looking at how professional it's made.

Hi xaz. I just wanted to say thanks for your keeping plugging away at this mod. 19 has finally worked, all the way through a prison sentence, on my eclectic mod list. I'd had consistent CTDs in Whiterun stocks or while trying to fast forward, but no longer.

If I had one suggestion - you might include an mcm option where you cannot pay off the fine :)

That would be good. Or maybe raise it a lot.

Because you know, renunce to pay a few hundred coin just to be whipped all day, its a bit immersion breaking!

Maybe your follower could wait outside and when you are throw into jail you find a lockpick with a note..."Better leave now. Tomorrow will be an hard day. Your friend".  So you have a chance to escape.

You already get a lockpick, ... not the letter though. But I'm thinking it would be more fun if your followers were also included in the sentence. We'll see when I get around to handling followers...

Hello i have bin playing with this mod for quite some time now but after upgrading to version 015 (i believe) when i get caught i need to walk to jail (as usual) but when i get to the prisoners belongings chest the gag + cuffs get unequiped + all my stuff + me and the guard guiding me to my cell just stand there

it might be someting i did wrong while installing the mod or it might be skyrims fault if anyone has any idea i would REALLY appreciate the help ! Thanks for reading this :) - Whatevalols

Not sure if it's a typo, but V015 is not the latest version. Upgrade to the latest version if you haven't already done so.

Assuming you meant V019, that sounds like you may have trouble with Fuz. Run through the troubleshooting section on the first page of this thread.

It is true that you can't clean mods from old data. Essentially, uninstalling mods (esp/esm) will permanently corrupt saves, and there's nothing to do about it.

What I was curious about was if people uesd tools to clean their saves. It doesn't sound impossible that there are bugs in those tools which cause crashes. For instance, if SKSE automatically cleans up things it shouldn't, there maybe be issues with saving.

I realize I'm grasping at straws here, but I have more or less nothing to go by for debugging this. No logs, no crash dumps, and hardly any information regarding what the setup is for the people who are having problems.

I've been thinking of changing how fines work. Essentially not allow you to pay your way past anything that's a violent crime (maybe high enough bounty), or if you're caught with enough stolen goods.

Posted

Update:

* Undressing works correctly (again).

* Fires (small) created by the pillories for Frostfall users.

* Major cleanup of old scripts and quests.

* Resource detection (prison doors, pillories, markers) completely overhauled.

* Day now lasts from 8am to 7pm.

* Added debug menu option in MCM.

* Slight tweaking of distance when ai controlled actors move around (will affect colliding actors, hopefully less).

* Loads of tweaks to attempt to reduce CTD on game save after mod has completed.

* Jailers have torches!

* Time scale changes are set to off by default.

Essentially, nothing should be changed and this is mostly bug fixes. There are some major changes under the hood however. I'm also hoping there will be no more CTD, but I have no idea if the changes I made will help prevent them.

I've added extra controls to reset and/or disable the jailer after the main quest has completed.

That's a great idea, you soon reach a point in Skyrim where money is not a problem, so there's no reason not to pay the fine.

Hi

Tried the new version 20. I had some problems (sorry) In solitude i couldt not auto-enter the cell my toon stands in the doorway stranded unable to move and the jailer just stands there(waiting for me entering properly) and nothing happens. Tried to wait and the jailer change position but nothing happens and i cant move my toon.

In Falkreath(minor crime) i end up in the pillory and nothing happens no whipping no fucking no broom and the. The jailer walks around with out a whip just looking and no citizens interfere the scene is endless(no end) and i reloaded.

In Whiterun(minor crime) i got whipped in my cell but no pillory just release after whipping (tried to save here and CTD reloaded tried again, ticked off the jailer thing in the debug section it worked)

Everything worked for me in version 19 except for un-equip in the pillory

Oh a last thing i doesnt get whip marks(not in 19 ,20) at all i know others have had the same problem but cant find it in the thread (only have it in early version)

Thanx for the mod very nice

I tried the 019 version and, for me lucky, EVERYTHING worked very well, fine and smooth. (I tried in Whiterun, minor, and Solitude, minor too).

So, I think I will not try this 020, for now.

I've only one suggestion and it's about the "sex" action (not the broom, the other one).

Why not undress the citizen/guard/whoever acts against the player?

Or, at least, equip him/her with one of the nude suites availables everywere?

The realism should be great, then, expecially if the player is a female and the "punisher" is a male.

My two cents and ... BIG THANKS for this excellent work!

Updated to V20, tried in Riften right a way to see if the CTD was there when getting released. With that one test it didn't seem to be the case so looks good! :)

Later I got arrested in Solitude, but there seems to be some problems entering the cell. Tried it three times. On two of those times, after the jailer opens the cell door and leads my toon inside, they both just kinda get stuck running into the wall/door left side of the doorway. Eventually the jailer disappears and my toon is left bound on the doorway with the cell door open, unable to move. Third time the jailer didn't open the cell door, just stood there right in front of it, until I decided to reload.

On a more positive note, the Solitude jail stairs aren't a problem for the jailer anymore :D

Also, are the debug options working? They seem to be locked into true, except main which changes automatically to true when getting into jail.

I also have a problem with 20, NPC stuck in cell door. 19 is better for me, everything works fine, except for the NPC undressing. Anyway, thanks for the work done)

Dowloaded this for the first time and got version 20 seems to work ok for petty and minor crimes (so far only tried whiterun) but some of the time im getting caught twice i select goto prison the guard walks away a bit i get bound and gagged then initiates the dialog again i get to the chest theres 2 jailers and then nothing happens or all the guards turn hostile while im tied up.

Also when i get caught twice it nvr comes up saying how much the bounty is.
