Assimilation

 

Nate or Nora are great fighters (just ask Strong!) and extremely valuable to factions in the Commonwealth.  Thus, if the player health gets too low (or NPCs are romanced) then that faction may assimilate them by changing their looks or locking them into the faction.

 

This mod consists of several quests that trigger after certain events like your health getting too low or AAF animations or a hotkey.  There are MCM options to control many mod features (for example if AAF is enabled).

 

This mod complements LL mods like AAF ViolateSexual Harassment and Sex 'Em Up and is similar in some ways to LL mods like Tattoo After Rape and Rad Morphing Redux.

 

Features

 

If the player health falls below a configurable value or after the player romances a partner of a particular faction or after using a hotkey, there is a chance that the player's clothes, hair, body, skin, face, and faction may be changed.  The chance for a change to happen for each body section and for each faction is configurable through MCM.

 

  • Clothes - Your clothes will be changed to something appropriate for that faction.  Expect to get a harness for Raiders and a suit for Triggermen.  There are differences for male and female characters.  There is an option to swap your clothing hats/helmets when combat starts/ends and an option to swap your clothing gas mask when bad weather starts/ends.  I could tell you what all the apparel possibilities are, but that would take away the fun and surprise.  Currently, base game/DLC apparel is supported plus the following mods:
  • Hair - Your hair will be changed to something appropriate for that faction.  Expect to get a mohawk for Raiders and a military cut Gunners.  There are differences for male and female characters.  Supported hair, beard, and pubic hair styles will also regrow over time or fall out from radiation.  There are some penalties if your hair gets too long so you should find & drop some scissors on the ground and use them (outside of combat) to trim up to avoid them (the scissors may break!).  I could tell you what all the hairstyle possibilities are, but that would take away the fun and surprise.  Currently, base game/DLC hairstyles are supported plus the following mods:
  • Body - Your CBBE or FusionGirl body will be morphed based on settings in MCM.  Configure them as you see fit, but by default it is set for female characters making the breasts and butt bigger and the waist smaller, i.e. an hourglass figure for most factions except "settler" factions which are the opposite.  It is possible to configure the settings for male and female characters.
    • FEV - If you romance a super-mutant, then some FEV may sneak into your system and cause increased muscle mass and some increased strength side-effects.  Beware!  (This can be configured or disabled in MCM).
    • Actions Effect Body - Similar to mods like WTTF. You eat - you get large, You swing & bash & workout - you get muscle, You lounge & get rads - you get thin (can be configured or disabled in MCM).
    • Metabolism - If you don't eat/exercise your body grows thinner by a small, balanced, configurable amount over time... like real people.
    • Walking/Standing-Still Bonus option - To aid in surviving while in faction, you get a tiny heal bonus while walking or standing still.
    • Noise Option - There is an option that player makes noise when swinging, bashing, jumping, or swimming.
  • Skin - If certain mods are installed, then tattoos can be applied to the entire body
    • Once across entire body when first affected if Random Overlay Framework is installed
    • Thereafter one after romance, combat defeat or helping faction members
  • Face - Your face can have tattoos or damage applied to it.
    • Uses Scripted Face Tints (SFT)
    • Create Medicated Face Wipes aid item that can erase one face damage tint (can be an aid gift).
  • Faction (version 3.0 and greater) - Your faction will be changed to that faction and possibly moved to a faction-friendly location.  Your last partner will have a small dialogue to initiate it.  You will remain in the faction until you help or romance enough faction members to leave the faction.  When leaving, a small dialogue allows you to confirm leaving or remaining in the faction.  While assimilated to the faction, you will gain a perk appropriate for that faction.  Asking to help or romancing faction members may result in them offering gifts or to be a companion (up to 2).  You will receive better gifts based on your faction reputation which increases each time non-faction members are killed.  It can decrease as well!
    • Talking to faction members using an assigned hotkey allows you to ask for info, request gifts, offer help, or romance them.  After talking, some faction members may be a doctor and can help heal you.
    • Alternate Ending quest - If not assimilated to a faction (chance failed), then there is a chance that an alternate ending quest can occur, mostly romantic but depending on the outcome of a small dialog can be other things (if installed) like being Bound In Public or POTC or Real Handcuffed or even Caps taken, etc.
    • Overseer quest - get assigned a random faction Overseer (and possibly shock collared) to check-in with on your progress or be punished.

    • Late to Overseer quest - Overseer sends a group of faction members to track you down and bring you back to them.

    • The following Assimilation Help Quests are supported for earning payback to get out of the faction (all included with Assimilation unless linked):

      • Ammunition

      • Beer Run

      • Feed Me!

      • Kissing Booth

      • Milk of Human Kindness

      • Rival Raider Return

      • Signed, Sealed, Delivered

      • Takedown

      • Village Bicycle

      • Watered Down

    • NOTE: Some details on implementation here: To make other factions hate the player if they become a Raider, those factions must be modified to dislike the player.  The faction relations are saved before faction assimilation and restored after un-assimilation, but there is some risk here if they never get restored properly.  I have been careful to assure that doesn't happen in the scripts, but that said I would only play version 3.0 with faction assimilation enabled on a new game not your long-term game with 1000's of hours played.
    • Post a comment if you notice an NPC is unexpectedly a friend or enemy after faction assimilation and I can likely fix it.

 

NOTE: There is no quick undo for the changes once they happen.  If the player's hair changes, then you're going to have to see John in Diamond City or Horatio in Vault 81 to get a new hairstyle.  If the player's body or skin changes, then you're going to have to see Doc Crocker in Diamond City to fix it.  You can put your other clothes back on if you don't like the ones given to you (the mod doesn't remove them), or some may play with mods where all your clothes are stripped, and then the changed clothes will be the only ones you have!  There are easy ways to change all of these with the showlooksmenu command, but role playing and continuing with whatever changes is more interesting.

 

Installation

 

Review the Conflicts and Requirements sections below, and then install with your favorite mod manager.  Additional features are available in the mod if the Optional Mods listed below are installed.  Version 3.0 and later has many portions re-written, and it is unlikely that an upgrade from any 2.0 version will work properly.  Versions 3.0 and later are so different that I would recommend starting a new game after download and installation.  Definitely do not be assimilated into a faction when upgrading!

 

Conflicts

 

Assimilation conflicts with the following other mods mostly because they are also modifying your faction relationships:

  1. Raider Pet - Does something similar to Assimilation for Raiders and you end up with the Raider Pet and Assimilation systems fighting each other.  For the best experience, use one or the other.  If there is a feature from Raider Pet that you miss when using Assimilation then let me know and I may be able to add something similar.

 

Requirements

  1. Fallout 4 v1.10.984 or newer (NextGen)
  2. F4SE - needed for lots of expanded script functions
  3. MCM - needed for extensive configuration options
  4. LLFP - needed for string functions only (included but included in AAF if you install that)

 

Optional Mods

  1. AAF including some themes/animations - for animation triggering
  2. Tested with CBBE and FusionGirl (LMK if you have another one where it works) - for body changes
  3. BodySlide - if you want body changes
  4. Looksmenu - if you want skin overlay changes
  5. Random Overlay Framework - will use for an initial set of skin overlay changes
  6. Tattoo After Rape - will use it for skin overlay changes if installed, and otherwise it uses Looksmenu directly
  7. Integrated with Scripted Face Tints (SFT) - if you want face changes
  8. F4z Ro D'oh - for better silent dialogue lines

Prioritized Issues (these will roll off each release)

  • SKK Combat Stalkers only uses Friend/Enemy factions.  Thus, if you are Raider assimilated and Raiders spawn to come after you, then they will be your enemy which doesn't make sense.  Not sure how to fix this one as I cannot add the Combat Stalkers enemy faction into your friends because then (in Raider example) Super-mutants that spawn will be your friend. Challenging, no known solution.

  • Hair stretching out and actor disappearing on AAF animations.  This is not an issue with this mod and looks like it involves the timing of hair changes, but I would love to find a workaround.  Challenging, no known solution.

 

Prioritized Features (these will roll off each release)

  • Faction

    • Increase the number of faction help quests available (i.e. the variety) when assimilated.

      • Propaganda - Deliver propaganda letters to containers (all)

      • Toy Drive - Fetch toys (Settlers, Minutemen)

      • Bad Habit - Fetch chems (all)

      • Spare Parts - Fetch bot parts (Rust Devils)

      • Tool Time - Fetch tools (all)

      • Sacred Scrolls - Fetch special books (Children of Atom)

      • Got Junk? - Eliminate Junk items (all)
      • Tourist Escort - Deliver settlers to various locations (Settlers)

      • Prisoner Transfer - Deliver prisoners between camps (enemy factions)

      • Feeding Time - Deliver food to animals (Pack)

      • Big Game Hunting - Eliminate large or small animals (Trappers)

      • Camp Raid - Eliminate settler camp (enemy factions)

      • Human Garbage - Eliminate Raider camp (Settlers, Minutemen)

      • Dead Drop - Deliver a dead drop letter in a container (Railroad)

      • S.R.B. - Track down and deliver a synth (Institute)

      • The Hustle - Deliver chems or weapons for caps (Triggermen)

      • Abominations - Eliminate Super Mutants (BoS)

      • Infestation - Eliminate Feral Ghouls (BoS, Minutemen, Settlers)

      • Attack of the Synths - Eliminate Gen1 & Gen2 synths (Railroad, BoS)

      • Who Are You? - Determine if a faction member is a synth (all)

      • Military Mentor - Take kid out to eliminate an animal or enemy faction (any)

      • Scavver Mentor - Take kid out to fetch items (any)

Interesting. How does it handle morph sliders with spaces in the name? like "Boobs Gravity" for Fusion Girl, for example. I tested it and it doesn't seem to recognize them, the sliders that don't have spaces in the name seem to work fine though.

I will try ones with spaces out.  I tried to do something similar to what Rad Morphing Redux does, but I may have not done it correctly.  I have never used one with spaces in-game so I will try it and fix it if there is a problem.

well this is certainly new, i don' think i would have ever thought about an idea like this, it would be even better if there was creature/synth options...

Oh, that's a great idea for a mod I never even thought about! Does it count DLC enemies as well? Like the 3 nuka world raider gangs, trappers from harbor or rust devils?

Not right now.  Just the base game.  I could make a DLC version that includes those factions if people wanted.  I can make it work for any factions as long as they are identifiable somehow and then just choose appropriate hair/clothes for the faction.

Thanks.  Could you tell me more about what creature/synth options you would want?  Maybe I could add them if they aren't too difficult.

I would certainly use it! Not too many mods have DLC support, which is a damn shame.

mutations, tails, ears depending on the creature, also off topic but i hate this new redesign the site has taken why are my messages green?

Also, if to emphasize a more perilous aspect of this, imagine getting a Synth Component that you can't drop from your inventory, as well as some of the myriad synth body parts that are scattered about in other mods (with the author's permission, of course).  The idea of being "consumed" by a machine, piece by piece, to the point of losing one's humanity... ooh.  Intense stuff.

(I could imagine an amazing collaborative effort with twistedtrebla's new "Bimbo" feature in his SH mod)

Very good idea in principle, and you gave all the right tools, also the implementation by default is a bit off :)

I disabled every race but the supermutants, and completely changed the preset.

My idea being 'making human look more like a mutant'

I am using TWB so the sliders I have altered are 

Athlete, Biceps,Upper Arm Mass, ShoulderWidth (you need to go negative, i.e the lesser the number the wider the shoulders), Wider Back, Belly Define, BreastPerkiness (to make the breast smaller,yes), Muscular Body.

The range I used for the bodyslide is 250 and 500 for some parameters.

 

The end result looks like this, and it's not final, I'm going to tweak it somewhat, the idea is to create a female version of supermutant eventually.

 

And I have to say it again - it's a grand idea, the part I like the most - you created a perfect tool for us to do whatever we see fit with it.

P.S. The only thing that's missing - we need a way to make the character REALLY green :)))

Interesting ideas!  I actually had experimented around with changing the skin to the ghoul skin for sex with ghouls as some mods partially do that like Advanced Needs 2.  I found it to be buggy though and haven't successfully made it work yet.  I think that is very interesting how it could be expanded to all the different races.  The concept is good and it just a matter of technically pulling it off.  The synth/robot thing seems especially possible since there are several mods and they are armor/outfit mods that can be applied.

Thanks!  I have been playing with it locally for months.  It is especially interesting with Nora to outfit her with long hair, no tats, etc. and see how long I can have her not get "caught" by mods like Violate and then looking like a raider or another faction.  I have my difficulty set really high with mods like SKK Combat Stalkers and NPCs Travel maxed so I haven't been very successful. ?  I do a lot of running and hiding to survive in my games...

 

Now that it is released in the wild, I am happy to implement any improvement requests that both the engine and I am capable of.  I'll have to keep the future ideas section up-to-date with everyone's ideas.

Now that one I know should be possible!  It would be an all body "tattoo" with a green tint and LooksMenu has a way to apply those.

Did you notice if the sliders with spaces in their names (e.g. Upper Arm Mass) work or not? I'm having some trouble with these kinds of sliders (using Fusion Girl).

Yep they do. But i found a different problem, the 'cap' is not working, at least not for the TWB sliders. 

Let's say i set the cap to -250 with the step of -10 to -25.

It can go over to -2500 

So yeah, it's a problem :)

Same with the positive values, I set 'up to 500' let's say, and it goes past that to the maximum of 2500 :))

Probably the author plays with CBBE only.

Did you have to use quotes when entering those sliders into the MCM? It's so strange on my end because the other sliders work fine but all the ones with spaces in the name don't work. Maybe I'm missing something obvious...

 

And yea I noticed the thing about limits not working, too.

Nope, I just entered it like this  xxx yyyy zzz,another,yet another,  using comma as separator, everything worked fine, except if goes over the set limits :)

Yeah, i feel your pain :)) Thing is my character is lvl 219 by now (I tend to continue the same play through, and I mostly concentrate on building, to be honest) so when I need to fight I just take my .50 cal machinegun and blow everything to very small pieces :) I used to it, from my days in the army, and yes, I'm old, and retired, and actually have grandkids :))) Go figure

I only play with CBBE, but good to know that BodySlide areas with spaces work.  I will look at the limits.  To quote Michael Bolton, "I must have put a decimal point in the wrong place or something. I always do that. I always mess up some mundane detail."
