Hello there everyone!! Let's share a little about our favorite companions, they can be modded or vanilla.

Mine will me Erik The Slayer and Inigo. Erik is... Welll *blushes* He's pretty charming and I always have him when I go out for adventures.

And Inigo is like the best friend who are very rare.

I usually have them both to travel with me, I just love how they both turn out assist me. Tho I never had them to follow me in any of the main quests.

Would love to know about your favorite follower.  Ciao.

For me, it is a toss up between Inigo and Anum-La for much the same reasons, a combination of their personalities, their vocal performances, their personal quests and their interactions with the main plot though Lucien and Auri are also great whether paired with Inigo or not. Of course, I prefer them alongside Inigo.

Vilja's flaws can also be overlooked when forming a threesome between the Dragonborn and Inigo (in a totally non-sexual way...mostly).

Unlike the Fallout series, the Elder Scrolls games actually 'punish' you for using a companion. FO advancement is mainly quest reward XP ( I guess I should clarify - you get credit for anything they do as well ), whereas in games like Skyrim, you must use the skills - effectively - in order to advance. Therefore I tend not to use them, but 'collect' them and park them in one of my NUMEROUS player homes. Then no matter where I am in the game, I can always stop by for a quick pickle tickle, before heading back out.

Favorite would have to be Inigo as well. But this also explains why the one character I have that uses him, is a lower level than all my others considering the quests completed.

Not sure where to start here. I have over 500 in my game.

If you're looking for admiration: I'll clap for you....

If you're looking for real advice: pick your favorite, or your favorite mod if it includes multiple companions, or modifies existing ones. After all, that is what the OP asked about. Don't be shy - share ?

Well since most of the "vanilla" companions are pretty much useless (either standing back watching you get beat or rushing in to get beat) I do the same thing LANDESS does and assign them to one of my numerous homes. I guess out of all the vanilla or modded companions I have to pick Irileth. After a few mods she's hot as hell and totally badass.

For male companion i have to say Inigo. He is just so well and professionally done. Haven't used so many male companions but he seems to be far ahead others in quality.

As female companion i think most well done is Vilja but i just dont like her voice and she just talks way too much so my favourite would be wandering rogue Arissa.

Vilja. Her personality soared in comparison to other companions. She was great company, felt like I had an actual person with me as I traveled, has a huge backstory, scared of vampires which made the play through more interesting if you were a vampire, you get to meet her parents, she is pan-sexual (which I strongly support) and if you're male you can have children with her. (adopt if you're female)

You get the bad with her too though as she can be difficult to deal with at times depending on your patience and views in the game. Sometimes when you try to cheer her up she gets even angrier, if you disagree on her views regardless of what they are you're treading on thin ice. You get the good with the bad but that's why I like her. She has depth, personality and soul. This is lacking in a lot of companions these days and you can tell this companion was/is a passion project.

Annekke Crag-Jumper (no surprise to anyone who knows me). As stated above with a few mods she's quite hot. I enjoy her personality and have had fun messing with the game with her. I like to make her marriageable and marry her. Once I had Verner (her husband) show up for our wedding in Riften. Or, I'll marry her daughter Sylgja and set up a nice three way household. I find her only drawback is that she will use a bow even when I've taken it away from her a thousand times (sometimes I'll fix this in the CK but generally I just live with it).

She is a quest no doubt about it but I have to say last I used her I had to delete  and re install skyrim there was files that would not go away. ?

As she is one of mine often find her early on in the start of the game as she is very useful..... She has much the same bug as Jordis the sword maiden with a bow give her the Gauldur Blackbow this solves it she will use it faithfully :)

I'm not there yet but I'm working on it. I had 34 traipsing around with me in my last outing. There were a couple more I'd sent home and several more I couldn't find. (And probably a few more I've forgotten about).

I don't like using companions in Skyrim. But if I had to choose, it would be Serana. I like her personality and the fact that she's uniquely voiced. Install Seductress Serana from Nexus--I go redhead--and she's tolerable in my eyes. Plus her penchant for raising the dead is funny as hell when I use MatchMaker to have her fool around with them. Sort of a quid pro quo for calling their souls back or defiling their remains.

You're using Serana Dialogue Edit, I hope?

I usually use her and Inigo. So much livelier. Vilja always seemed interesting with so much going on, but I could never get past the poor quality of the voice acting (more so sound and recording quality than her actual voice, although I'm not a huge fan of that either).

I'm interested in the new fellow who just popped up, Lucien. Not sure if he'll be annoying or fun, but I'd like to give him a try. I do like the idea of a follower who's useful to have but is useless in combat.

I'm a sucker for Scandanavian female accents. Back when I tried her I used to love the way she said 'don't kill heem'. Sadly she was always a few seconds too late and the bastards already had.

Lucien doesn't stay useless forever, at least if you choose to give him training sessions. Afterwards, he'll gradually increase in skill all on his own whether or not you continue his training even if it is at a much slower pace.

As for Vilja, that is just a consequence of being one of the earlier 'super follower' type mods. Her dialogues with Inigo are much better but unfortunately it would be too much time and effort to go back and re-record all of the lines to a more professional standard.

Not seeking admiration, but I'll bite anyway :)

Here's a couple in my current group. On the left is Olivia, who was found hanging out in Blackreach. The one on the right is Ella, who I converted to Skyrim SE. Also a fan of Vilja, as she is incredibly useful when it comes to selling loot (not to mention that accent).

My favorites right now are Recorder (with the overhaul that turns her into a red headed goddess), I find her voice to be so sexy plus she uses a bow and dual wields. And the other is Booette again very sexy and the doll she summons makes me laugh.

my fav is Vera from sassy teen followers. Not for her sassy-ness or her teen-ness (those actually kind of annoy me).

Spoiler

Nord one hand / shield user that will use a bow at range but prefers to close to melee.

She is formidable but not OP, and she has a shout that briefly summons a ghost nord who has fuz (extra dps, and CC).  This leads to a more level fighting experience in Skyrim, and offers opportunities to win hard fights while not trivializing smaller ones.

Also, she is standoff-ish... if you get too close to her, she moves away from you, which I love because I hate followers that are constantly getting in my way.

Top of the list for me is probably Cerwiden. Plenty of dialog, subquests AND the best backup in terms of gameplay. Not the most OP, but the custom healing AI on her works well and she does a good job of keeping you in the fight whilst letting you be the hero.

For cute?

Mrissi. Adorable dialog, and a huge storyline to play through. I never found her that powerful in combat, but that isn't entirely a bad thing.

To follow you through the main game?

As mentioned, Inigo. I don't think there is another follower that integrates with and builds upon the core game to the same massive extent.

Honorable mentions?

Yurianna. OP as heck, but a brilliant (and rather pervy) quest arc.

Interesting NPCs. They are pretty much all good, with random genius comments and cool quest arcs.

Sofia. Sexy and somewhat gratutious without being crude.
Any Devious Follower. Exactly who doesn't entirely matter. It's gonna be a heck of a journey.

...and probably a half dozen I have forgotten.

The accent is fine! Emma's voice work just needs a bit of polish.

To be fair, I never gave here that much of a chance; maybe it gets better further in. But the poor recording quality is just too much for me.

It would be nice if someone would try to remaster her files as has been done with a handful of other followers, but that's a huge job for a character as big as Vilja.

As for Lucien, that's almost kind of a shame. It's too easy to break Skyrim with followers helping you. You have to buff the difficulty to make combat a challenge, but then you risk getting ganked when forced to go without companions. It's a tough balancing act. Followers you have to protect would make a nice change from the usual "extra warm bodies" followers, who're universally good adventurers.

If you just want a few mercenaries and underlings to act as your personal Red Shirts, you could always use Dragon Fodder or the Louis Cultivation Kit.

Polish is hot as well. 'Eastern Bloc' accents for the win. ?
