Sure, anything with a point can stab, and while any farther than 6 inches into a body is overkill and likely to get your sword bound and stuck, you could stab someone with a katana. 1 hour ago, worik said: Oh, I know that, but this is about the aesthetics A Rapier wouldn't look that iconic. Praise Hollywood ? Yup, the Hollywood of unlimited bullets and a whole bunch of sword impossibilities that I can't remember right now. Look really impressive but once you see just how impractical they are you can't shake that disbelief any more. Too bad because I really like Highlander and the series, especially the Queen songs.

Ah, yeah I think I was thinking more of armor or that it would get stuck in the ribs. Harder to go out the other side when you can't see through a body. Thought I'd better get a couple shots of the way I think about doing things, even if I couldn't do it in real life. (I find a crossbow more usable than longbow though I have shot a regular recurve enough to buy an armguard.) On hard rock where there is less of a chance to slip, and careful footing can eliminate sounds. Unfortunately upwind (see the campfire smoke?) but hoping the elevation and scent masking alchemy don't alert the wolves. Spoiler Success - head shot (mostly luck, I don't think the game is quite that accurate - cross hair used, just disabled for the screencap ) Got the bartender by surprise... dark, poorly lit lairs are #138 on the Evil Overlord list "The passageways to and within my domain will be well-lit with fluorescent lighting. Regrettably, the spooky atmosphere will be lost, but my security patrols will be more effective. " If he had more torches around he might have seen me slip around that corner. Spoiler Now I've left Skyrim and am playing Hitman. Hello, I'll be your bartender for the evening. Never mind that body in the corner behind the chest. Spoiler Feeling a little woozy? Here, let me help you go ALL the way to sleep.... (alternately, Having trouble drinking? Let me open your throat up and we can just pour it right in. ) (The blood spray didn't get captured in this shot, I think I was just a tick too slow on the key.) Spoiler Hand over the mouth to keep the target quiet, facing away to avoid blood splash (and because its a lot easier to sneak up from behind in the dark instead of through the light in front of him... aaaand Skyrim animations make blood go places it really can't) Spoiler and that's one skooma source shut down. 1

A katana is a bastard sword or hand and half sword. That is, it is meant for two-handed use but can, at a pinch, be used one-handed. A WW2 Japanese officers' swords is not a 'samurai sword' or a katana. Lewis Caroll - The Jabberwocky. He took his vorpal sword in hand; Long time the manxome foe he sought— So rested he by the Tumtum tree And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! karlpaws Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Well, hope I don't overload the thread with too many images (9 in in this post), but as I was going into the thieves guild quest chain I thought I'd throw a little SLEN party for some of my more trusted and valued lovers in the Cistern. Turns out the lighting isn't the best with my setup but there was a lot of space and I thought I could get away with inviting some people and then have the thieves normally there also participate (which did work out but due to locations I didn't get so many pictures with the other thieves). Here's a partial cast of party goers, with Olfrid, Amren, our bartender, a guard added by a mod for the Western Watchtower (Arcturius by name) and Haelga (I suppse either as a no hard feelings or as an expert consultant). Spoiler Haelga's wearing a custom outfit from Inner Wear, but with jeweled vampire boots Spoiler Amren was quite helpful teaching Sapphire how a good man treats a woman. Here we're showing her how much control she can have when he's not holding her head and trying to skull fuck her. Later on Haelga and someone else showed her how cooperation can be fun. I was busy introducing Severio to someone (commission on that deal didn't turn out to be all that much, unfortuately.) Jarl Laila got to find out just what Maven was hiding from her... I wonder if I'll be called on to broker a peace treaty between them later. Spoiler Haelga and I got the Jarl down and dirty and put on a show for Mercer. I don't know about that guy though, he lost interest far to quickly... Olfrid and I got to play a little power exchange with the Jarl. I think she liked being on the bottom. Might explain her willingness to pass on so much to Maven. Spoiler She got really dirty later on, but we made sure to clean her off before letting her go back to the palace. I'm not sure what the boys would think of their mother wearing a "pearl necklace". Sapphire eventually let loose and had some real fun... Spoiler Amren, Olfrid and Arcturius - rocked her world? - got the bridge rocking? - danced to her tune at least. At some point, Laila and I even tried to help Delvin get over Vex. Not sure if it worked or not, but since he's local I'll take him along if I have any trouble with the Jarl Spoiler 1
karlpaws Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 As I mentioned, on the Thieves Guild questline and just finished the Meadery mission. (game locked up and I had to End Task it so I decided to post all of these) Since I'm playing a Dark Elf, and thus a follower of the Good Daedra and not all that keen on Namira, this rat fellow is gonna get the Mephala treatment. Spoiler ( Lights are just for the picture ) A little calming spell after driving his pets into a self killing fury and we have a nice, docile target for our ministrations... Spoiler I'd say he died with a smile on his face, but I think that was just the paralysis. Spoiler A certain other someone found out what happens when you don't happen to mention that crazy rat guy that you lured down there... lets just say you traded one debt for another, and I have a whole different payment plan. Grey Cloud Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Another day, another killmove. Yawn. Dragonbone sword crafted up to Legendary, plus Dolly is well over 100 in 1H. Sword is enchanted with Chaos thingy (and soul trap) so he is getting hit by frost and fire. Then there is the destruction perks which enhance the fire and frost effects. Dolly also has something that is enchanted to drain stamina (the green lines) and magicka (the blue lines). All in all, not his day really.
Harry Smackmeat Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 What am I doing Supposed to be predatory but it's not going so well. >_> That's my elf mage getting surprise butt stuffed! (animation also included choking but I suck at timing pics) He later got smacked around by a giant angry tree thing from SIC (which I then bash staggered and one-shot and yelled timber) and stupid me I felt bad and healed him and he's like oh cool btw I worship kynareth so go fudge yourself.
Grey Cloud Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Lizard n wizard. What a glorious day. What a glorious day for knocking on the door of Camelot and asking "is Merlin?" 1
goaway Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Since the pirates are based in the Iliac bay (the sea in between High Rock and Hammerfell) and have several Nymph crew members already, I wanted to add a high rock/breton nymph to the Black Opal crew. At first I was gonna just make her something simple, with just a placeholder race, But... then I had to figure out at least some idea of what a breton nymph would be. And... well.. it sort of spiraled out of control from there. Spoiler So, the basic idea is using the stamina draining powers of the Nymph you find in game in daggerfall, I wanted to come up with a way to make that interesting. 1. She gets a little bit of magic resist. Not a whole lot, but 10% is always useful. 2. She drains stamina on hit. Starts out at 5 points, and goes up by 5 points every 15 levels (10 per hit at 15, 15 per hit at 30, 20 per hit at 45) 3. Her power attacks cost more than normal (150%), but if her stamina bar is at least 70% full, she multiplies her power attack damage by 1+ (0.01 * stamina). So if you have 200 total stamina, and have 160 left, this is 80% of her total, and it activates. With 160 stamina, her power attack damage gets multiplied by 1 + (0.01 * 160). So her power attack will do 2.6x normal damage! 4. Her naked power is my way of making her more like the daggerfall Nymph too. As long as she is naked, she gets an extra layer of mundane resistance that makes her all but invulnerable to iron, steel, and silver weapons. I actually went back through my daggerfall unity save about a week ago and discovered you couldn't hurt a Nymph with silver weapons either! Rather than rewrite the lore, I decided to apply this just to the High-Rock Nymph. The order in which these are applied makes a big difference, so it is set up that the flat reductions apply first, then the % reductions, of both perks. So the base mundane resistance is damage -7, * 0.5. The super resistance of the High Nymph is -3, * 0.6. It seems like a lot smaller effect, but when you apply these in sequence it becomes -10 flat, * 0.3 percentage. So you take 10 less from every hit and only 30% of whatever exceeds that. This is enough that you can practically ignore anything with an iron weapon for the first 10-15 levels. The extra bonus is that the protection from silver is useful most of the game. The downside is that while it is extremely strong, like the normal Nymph protection it stops helping after level 25 or so. After all that... I kind of wanted to make the High Nymph crew member more of an actual full-fledged follower. So I ended up writing her a semi-backstory for now. Spoiler She's an ex-Witch, formerly of the Devilrock Coven. The Witches of Devilrock, being located in the same province as the necromantic "Order of the Black Worm" (and formerly, the King of Worms) and in a province with Arkay as the favored deity, have a uniquely strong relationship with the Daedric Prince Meridia. This is similar to how the Glenmoril Witches have a strong relationship with Hircine. The Devilrock Witches are undead-hunters, and young sisters of the coven train from an early age to fight and kill all sorts of undead creatures with both magic and martial technique. Ms. Breton-Nymph (who does not have a name yet) grew up in the coven believing she was a human, but as she grew older (and didn't age) she began to realize that she was a Nymph, and her sisters knew this. So, finding out she had been deceived she, had a falling out with the Bedlam and the Coven. She was likely left in the care of the Witches after her mother died of Nymph-Blight, a magical disease of unknown origin that affects only Nymphii. From what I've got written out at the moment, Ms. Breton-Nymph is not actually a pirate, she's a mercenary contracted with the Black Opal pirates for the specific purposes of dealing with the undead. Her contract stipulates that she only has to participate in a battle that involves skeletons, zombies, draugr, ghosts, vampires, or necromancers. Her personality is sort of the "super-talented-but-reluctant-hero and somewhat lazy" type. Not lazy-hedonist like Arborea, more lazy like "everything takes too much effort." Creativity in bursts, right? Not sure when I will actually make this a playable race. Also, side note from that picture. It's been a while since I had seen the stats of the Nymph from daggerfall. I remembered that the Nymph was extremely fast/agile (twice as nimble as a khajiit), but I kind of forgot that the Nymph was supernaturally smart too. By comparison, your average altmer or breton, back in the games that used stats, had intelligence/willpower of 50/40. 1
