Maybe add this somewhere to the mix:

That's an SE-only mod. The first post is about LE mods.

Well, it's been more than a year since the last game update (knock on wood). No doubt due to them working on Starfield and TES Online, of course. Remains to be seen how much more effort they'll put into Skyrim, given that we're supposedly 2-3 years away from TES 6...

I'd say 4-5...

  • Taken Down: Cum Shot Brothel, Follow me for Sex, Scent of Sex, and all other mods by that author

Any particular reason? I know most if not all of their mods were just ports (and tended to have... many issues...) but nothing in particular.

Sexlab Survival and Monoman's Mod Tweaks were all taken down, both SE and LE versions (although some scattered files remain available). Likely the Captured Dreams history repeating itself again.

The author's account has been deleted. I'd be surprised if they had been banned, so I assume they chose to leave the site.

Looked into it a bit more (thought it was the person who ported them that got booted, but no).

Surprised to see CPU delete their account/get it deleted. Still no idea why but I assume they have their reasons, likewise for Monoman (though their account still exists, the files were nuked for whatever reason)

(which if they're trying to scrub their previous work, has been shown time and time again to not work at all)

All of my conversions of CPUs mods are still up. I have not gotten a take down request from them. Monoman did ask me to take down 2 of my conversions, I asked why about one due to several other mods requiring Spank That Ass as a dependency.  The whole reason I started converting mods to begin with was so they would be useable for SE.

Holy shit, my conversion of Sexlab Survival SE was taken down with no notice whatsoever. No take-down request, nothing.  Is this Lover's Lab Admin policy? Just yank down mods without notifying the uploader?

So now I'm left with my dick swinging in the wind having to deal with angry users wanting to know why I deleted mods, when I had no idea that they were taken down or why. I took down the "Milk mod" and "Spank That Ass" before my account got flagged for something I didn't do.

I wouldn't worry about anything happening to your account, if a mod author asks or reports a reupload of their work they don't want, the mods here remove the files - that doesn't mean you did anything wrong though, they're just respecting the authors wishes. I'm surprised you don't get a notification/message saying why it was removed, the mods shouldn't be doing things in the shadows without explaining why they did something :/

I do wonder why Monoman wants all his work removed though, he was still posting snippets of WIP mods up till a few weeks ago, and offering support only a week or so ago

Yep, it is the mystery of the week

Did even more digging, and it seems that the mods themselves aren't too sure why they nuked everything, at least publicly.

Though, based on how it seems some content that was originally created by them for LE and then converted by someone else, AFAIK with permission to do so, also got nuked, seems to imply either the mods do know more, CPU still has some level of access, or they simply requested everything they ever contributed for, get nuked as well.

Best to ask on the threads for those mods. This thread is to announce what is compatible or not. If all the questions for all the mods got posted here, it would get swamped.

Well crap,

What's the ethical thing to do? Nuke em locally to respect the mod authors wishes?

I mean obviously not reposting them is clear... but just plan old usage if you had them?

If you have them, use them. Why delete and not use what you already have?

When permission was given out for conversions and use in other mods prior to it all being remove what is ethical gets very hazy.

I think continued local usage is fine.

A mod author's work is the same as the work of any other kind of artist. When someone downloads a mod from LoversLab, the mod author gave out a copy. One can think of it like a painter giving out a print of their painting, which the recipient hung on their wall. That is like adding the mod to your load order.

A painter can choose to stop giving out prints of their painting. That is like a mod author removing their mod from LoversLab. The painter cannot force a person to take the print off their wall, just like the mod author cannot force a person to remove the mod from their load order.

It would be wrong; however, for a person to make copies of the painter's print and give them to other people, without having the copyright for the original painting. Similarly, it would be wrong for a person to give copies of a mod to other people, without having the copyright for the original mod.

I still think it's wrong for him to take them down and revoke permissions AFTER the fact. Plenty of people have went out of their way to work on the mods he's made and add revisions to it after the fact upon giving permission. Taking back those permissions doesn't seem right since the cat is already out of the bag. I hope LL mods reconsider taking down the conversions considering that they're incredibly valuable for most people who mod on here.

They arguably didn't even revoke said permissions, just had files nuked with 0 contact with the person who was previously given permission.

At the end of the day, all this actually accomplishes is having people reupload the mods elsewhere
