That's a funny request to make for a mod called "Devious Followers"!!!

...

*giggles*

Ok, ok, no need to call the cops. I will show myself out!

i know but i want my custom follower to not do that. ^^

Her backstory evolves around being a relative so it feels kinda arkward.

IMO would be a nice QOL addition - you can already functionally do the this by pausing the mod or manually giving DF status to a different follower if you have more than one, but it would be nice to have a debug status to mark an NPC as "never devious".

I vote the faction be named "Boring".:classic_tongue:

Since there is only one Devious Follower at at time, as long as you keep your "devious" follower with you and don't pay them off fully your custom follower shouldn't ever get the DF status/features.

But I agree that it would be nice to mark a particular NPC so the mod won't automatically pick them up, since I'm sure people have plenty of reasons they may want a certain NPC to not demand payment but still want DF installed for most other followers.

There kind of already is since if you help cause your follower to get knocked down they lose lives, which makes your life harder in the long run.  If someone is spamming AOE magic with a follower around and hasn't taken the time to get the Dragonborn perk that makes followers immune to player magic, they will very quickly find their follower adding extra debt and refusing to help with DD items due to all the abuse they are taking.

I'd personally really hate it if I suddenly had to be careful about fighting with my follower around, IMO most people's biggest gripes about followers in Skyrim is how they get in the way all the time.  I wouldn't want Devious Followers to change the way I approach combat because I was afraid of hitting my follower.

What I was referring to was something like what's in deviouly enslave if you hit your follower by accident later they will conpland to you and ask you to be more careful.  Also I would not it to be ever time it happen but if you are continually  hitting your follower they properly get angry.

if i can exclude my custom follower, then i don't need to pay attention in which order i hire them and it won't be part of the whole group debt ordeal.

Would you mind to add a way (Faction or Keyword) to exclude followers from this mod?

For some reason, my follower never enslaves my character. It seems to be stuck in a loop, where after passing 1000gold in debt, the follower just says "I'll just take what I want", and I go down to 900 debt. no matter how much or little I Have in my inventory. I put everything in a chest, and tried again, still the same. Any idea what is happening?

Bug report - this report is for 1.31 on a cleaned save

After installing 1.31, I wanted to properly test out the new piercings deal.  The issue before where there were some problems actually getting the full 3 levels seems to be fixed, and I was able to have my follower offer me all three piercing deals (I refused all non-piercing deals).

However, the level 3 piercing deal does not seem to be functioning for me.  My follower never makes my PC "show" the piercings to an NPC (my assumption is this would work similarly to the Slut deal) and I assume this may be a problem with dialogue conditions not allowing the blocking dialogue to show up.  Also, my follower is repeatedly force-greeting my PC while in town, but triggers no unique dialogues or choices - I assume this is the "checking your piercings" portion of the deal attempting to trigger.  Instead, I simply get my follower's default greeting dialogues, and access to my usual follower dialogue tree as if I had initiated the conversation myself.  She will do this constantly while in town, but stops once I go to a dungeon.

Also, while I don't know if it is related, the piercing deals do not seem to trigger the follower to demand you pay off your deals first at low willpower by themsevles.  At level 3 of the piercing deal and no other deals, she had no problem with me paying her at only 1 willpower.  As soon as I took a 4th deal, she required I pay that deal off or get 6 deals to start paying her again.  The piercing deals *do* contribute to the required 6 deals however - I only needed to have 3 other deals active to have her let me start paying again.

I did pick up the "slut" deal to check, and that deal seems to be working fine, along with the rest of the mod (had a game trigger and no issues with willpower rising/falling or sleep resetting follower lives).  The follower I am using as my DF is an Interesting NPCs follower that does not use the vanilla follower system, however she has had no issues being picked up by DF and used by DF up to this point.

something to check is to make sure you do not have "endless mode" checked (turned on).

Hasn't someone asked this before? I don't remember well, but maybe you need less willpower for enslavement to kick in?

This is happening to me to. Im also very curious about my follower "failing to tye me up during sleep." and when asking about debt it suggests " a good nights rest would do me well. As far as I know my follower has never been successful... was wondering if there was a way to force success.

Spoiler

Wear a gag while sleeping in those circumstances (low willpower/high debt while in an inn).  That message means your follower tried to trigger the gag game but you weren't wearing one.

This can happen for a few reasons, updating an old version will do this mainly (if you don't lose willpower when your stuff is stolen) and considering enslavment is set at 1000 debt i'm betting this is the case. Outside of this your willpower needs to be low enough to be enslaved.

Tryed to replicate the error and I can't, will look more into it. It could be a bad SEQ file if so save and reloading "should" fix it.

I tryed to fix that it should only happened the failed msg and the event only when you are wearing a gag. I need to have another look at this.

If there's any further details/tests that might be helpful for you just let me know as I still have a save where the issue was happening, and it isn't that hard to get back to full piercing deal and try walking around a city or look at quest states/global variables ect.

Unfortunately it is a very repeatable issue for me, I've gotten the level 3 piercing deal on two separate occasions over several saves/loads with the same result, no NPC piercing dialogue and the blank force-greets from my follower.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Found the problem... Basically, cause I didn't use a clean save to test 1.31 it worked (1.30-->1.31 gave a working version). Either way, starting a new game I was able to replicate the problem, I then fixed the problem. So test away.

Yea 100% recommend a clean save.

At a glance after a clean save, the level 3 piercing deal now works perfectly.  Thanks!

The only minor issue I noticed that was still there from my previous report is that the piercing deals still don't seem to trigger the "follower won't let you pay until you have 6 deals" feature at low willpower - I don't think this is a major issue that deserves a new patch by itself however since if you have *any* non-piercing deals in place you get the effect, and the piercing deals did seem to be included in the "minimum 6 deals" count to access payment again.

Spoiler

If you ever end up putting a "recommended" mod list together, IMO Rohzima's SLAL pack should definitely be there, based on the tags I saw searched.  :classic_tongue:  Fully support the piercing deal, worthy addition to the other 3 deals now that it seems to be working.

Glad people can see the content like a week after I released it. I'll fix that bug soon enough(prolly tomorrow) I know what it is anyway.

Thank a ton for the bug reports :D.

v1.32 MCM didnt start on a new game after install via NMM

i solved the issue, but no clue what it was at the end:

- changed zip file name from DeviousFollower 1.32 .7z => DeviousFollower 1.32.7z

- deleted old save games

- install with NMM, overwrite all

That you changed the mods archive name to be ... erm ... the same was more of a fluke.
Sometimes MCM doesn't pickup new MCM menues immediatly but saving, quitting the game and then reloading the last save usually makes it kick in.

Helped me as well. Deinstalled, renamed, reinstalled (without saveclean) and Menu was there.

For those who dont find the diffirence, its a blank at the end of the filename ^^

I had the same problem, and waited quite some time for the MCM to show. DCL menu wich i installed paralell showed up way before.

Thou i am surprised too what the name should have to do with the menu not shoowing up  At least it worked. But could be by chance.

Btw, thanx for your translation !  regards
