I loved wearing this shirt and loved getting questions like "what did that cat do to you".    When I explained it, I would get that look from people who think "oh god, I  understand all the words he is saying but....  I have no idea what it means, but I am afraid that if I don't just agree, he will think I am an idiot".

> I had a weird dream last night. I dreamed that my Prince and Ivy created my character in Skyrim and that Redguards (I was a redguard) played soccer against Nords. In one moment I was leading the ball. Nords' goal keeper, Balimund the blacksmith from Riften ran back and forth being insured should he attack me or defend his goal. I saw an opportunity for kicking the ball. And I did it. I scored for our team from impossible position. Somehow the game turn to reality. My luvs told me I should post it on YouTube as rare and impossible goal. So I did and I won several millions of likes. :classic_laugh:

Did not get the promotion and learned (well re-learned) that one of the many differences between knowledgeable people and smart people is that a knowledgeable person speaks from their own knowledge, while the smart person speaks to the knowledge of the person listening.

An easier saying is "know your audience and speak to their level".

I lost the promotion to a person who I trained/mentored, so I suppose that is something.  He is also 17 years my junior (but he does have his Masters, while I am still "working" on mine).   The reason I lost the job was because I did not talk about stuff that I did, I only talked about the path forward.....I made the mistake of assuming they already knew of my past, so talking about it would seem I was bragging.

Ah, someone else with the problem of hating to talk about themselves (and perhaps seeing what they have done in the past as inconsequential, at least with regards to what is in the future, given a certain path).

I like the fact that you can put a positive spin on the fact that someone you trained got the job, despite the lack of an extra 17 years experience that you, their trainer, have.  Personally, I'd have a very difficult time looking at it that way were I in that position.  To me, that kind of hire just screams "Hired applicant simply said what we wanted to hear, instead of what the job actually requires.".

Humble, self denying and not self exposing people aren't welcome in the business world today, but those with opposite characters. The three of us were lucky we had a man who recognized quality, intelligence, hard and honest work and he promoted us. The similar mistake as your boss did, my Fran did several years ago but my Prince corrected him. We looked for a new female receptionist. He wanted a young beautiful girl with big boobies and ass while there was an almost ugly old lady who, unlike the beautiful girl spoke 4 languages, had better approach to customers, and similar whom he rejected because of her age and the look. My Prince told him we are not hiring female models with less pro qualities, but the ones as that lady. Since his word was last because he was on higher position than my Fran, we hired the lady.

Well - the people in East Germany practically all had to learn that after reunification ... from their new compatriots from the "West" ...

...not knowing how to do something is important - but only and exclusively talking about it - i.e. self-portrayal - i.e. the "appearance" instead of the "being"

my aunt - over 80 years old - noticed this again a few days ago

She had made a city trip to the Ruhr area with a long-time friend (they have known each other as long as I have lived... 60 years!)... "far to the west" as it says in a well-known song in the German-speaking world (about the city of Bochum). is called.

The tour guide...westerner...tells more about themselves at the presentation rather than what you (the tour group) will see/experience over the next 3-4 days

Well.. it is time you understood the Gallagher class or words:

English isn't quite as obtuse as certain other non-Latin derived languages. For example, one does not need to essentially learn how to sing to speak the language as one does for West African languages such as Igbo. Hot a note wrong and one has pronounced an entirely different word than one intended to speak.

I've had this song in my head all day.

OK, So Thanks! I read that post and listened to the song just after you posted it, I guess just reading the quoted phrase subliminally transferred to my brain and the next song I heard has been stuck playing in my head.  So Thank You Very Much for that.  :D

Dungeons and dragons movie is equally complicated and understandable as the game. It is interesting that the game was never well received in our country unlike "Monopoly", "Risk" and few other Western games.

Are you saying they should let the boy (his son) try instead??  The images shown on TV don't match how I imaged the coronation.  Must be fake news.

You don't vote for Kings

There is no reason why not. A monarchy does not have to be hereditary, in fact it doesn't have to be a monarchy - the Spartans had a duarchy.

Juan Carlos was expected to continue Franco's legacy. However, Juan Carlos introduced reforms to dismantle the Francoist regime and to begin the Spanish transition to democracy soon after his accession. This led to the approval of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 in a referendum which re-established a constitutional monarchy.
