Nope. But the second we set the precedent, to allow the justification, of one the most heinous crimes, with a claim of "Mental Illness made me do it"; You might as well just abolish all law. This is pure supposition on your part. The laws around mental illness have been around for years and have not just appeared because of this case. Did they 'release all hell' prior to this case?

Mental illness is never used to 'justify' any crime. At most, mental illness is used as a reason why the person committed the crime.

No I don't know how many people out there claim to be mentally ill. Do you know? Personally, I'd guess that the number is a lot lower than that of people who do have mental health problems and deny or ignore that they do.

A self-diagnosis of any illness wont get you far in a courtroom.
