Guest Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Can I quickly ask, I don't know why. But when I talk to Borkul, the only options I have that may effect the starting of this quest is "Hey there!" once I click it, it just says "uh nevermind" and nothing happens. Please help, thank you.

Since the feature seems like it could be even be used as a risky/fun way to get out of some of these tough restraints I'll definitely try running it for awhile. Quick question - for the optional mods to feature in the bandit camps (Cursed Loot collar/Simple Slavery sale) do these mods need to be loaded before Devious Cidhna in the load order? Or does load order not matter in this case. Yup, my testing scenario for the new stuff was to do the DvCidhna vampire scenario, which left my new-fledged vampire securely trussed up - and starving. Blundering into the bandit camp at Smuggler's Den and (eventually) turning the tables on them seemed like a good immersive way to continue from there. Optional mods are not sensitive to load order, since they aren't actual mod dependencies in the CK sense. Items from those mods can be referenced explicitly in scripts (or initiated by sending mod events, in the case of Simple Slavery), but that's a very loose dependency. So load order doesn't matter at all. 1

As already noted, that line's from MME, not DvCidhna. If you don't have any other options, after you've talked to him once and gotten told to fetch him a shiv, then something's wrong. I assume that you didn't get tossed in the mine for petty thievery or something (i.e. the 'No One Escapes' quest is active). Check in console if the DvCidhna quest is running.
sky6 Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I tried out your mod last night after I installed your latest update and several things happened. My PC talked to the girl/vampire at the mill on the west end of Lake Illinalta with a collar on. She was immediately captured/seized and was teleported to the vampire lair in broken fang cave I believe. Where "playing with the food" quest started. Then another quest started called "Wait for the drug to take effect" started. I have never seen that before. Also I got a notice "lookup failed" for the most part "playing with the food" played out normally from there. But my PC had a drunk stagger effect from then on and I can't get rid of it. After my PC escaped she went to dead man's drink Inn with some restraints equipped. My PC had a Dialog option with the innkeeper of "Oh no please don't" or something similar. Where she was immediately teleported/sent to Bashnag's Lair. Things went really crazy from there. I kept getting the notice "lookup failed" and several possible verbal responses were "..." Bashnag used her a couple times then made several comments about someone else would really like her. Then some more "lookup failed" notices and then my game CTD'd and I never did get rid of the Drunk animation. I don't have Angrim's Apprentice installed or devious Bashnag. But I do have installed Devious stories. I have all requirements listed and I use Loot for sorting load order. Got any ideas? I am not asking for an in depth response, just take a look at responses etc and see if you recognize a culprit. Thanks for your awesome work and your time and attention.
stobor Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 That does sound messed up, as though lines from several different quests have gotten interspersed (though most of them, even Bashnag's, are from this mod). A few things to try: Overlay the non-localized ESP and see if that fixes the problem (especially if you have a save from right before it went nuts). If so, that suggests that the string tables may be messed up. What language is your install set for? Grab the Papyrus log output around one of the messed up scenarios, most of this mod's actions leave a trail in the logs. Try to find something more specific around the "Lookup Failed" message - is there any hint of what it was trying to lookup? That might leave traces in the Papyrus log too.

Lookup failed indeed indicates a problem with the string tables. i only checked the german and english translation using TES5Edit and the other are exact copies of the english one so something is off. And judging from your message, not all strings from this mod are affected what is strange enough. Maybe it's another mod overwriting an entry and having its own problems with iT'S string tables.

The only thing I forgot to mention was I updated deviously helpless at the same time yesterday.

Ran it myself. Maybe you can pin point which location, dialogue or item had the lookup error? @stobor Btw: Lookup errors sadly don't show up in the papyrus log.
stobor Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 One other possibility: in v1_10, the string tables are in the BSA, but in the last localized version (v1_8) they were loose. Check if you've still got loose string tables (.../Data/Strings/) that might be masking the ones in the BSA. That could well explain the symptoms you described. 1
Reesewow Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 One other question from someone who hasn't used the mod in quite a while and would like to install it on an my primary save - does anyone have suggestions on how to manually set the mod's quest stages up in a save that has completed the vanilla versions of "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine/Blood and Silver". I'd like to manually set the mod's quest stages to match the status of my game (Madanach and all his cronies alive in Druadach, Thonar dead) to give access to the various Forsworn side-quests, but most of these seem to have the condition of DvCidhna_Quest being at stage 50. Unfortunately that quest is resistant to being adjusted in console, likely due to non-optional aliases or the fact that certain NPCs are dead. I think my best bet is to remove the DvCidhna_Quest conditional where I find it, and try to remember that I need to reinstall the mod if I start a new character or things may be all kinds of borked. If anyone has a better suggestion, it would be appreciated.
stobor Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 I don't have any better suggestion than that, no. Without going back and examining the conditions myself, there are two main places to look for such: dialogue conditions (e.g. DvCidhna_DruadachRedoubt or whatever I called that), and quest triggers (Change Location Events, there should be several related to this mod). 1

Wasn't having much success with this approach, so I looked at what aliases are used in DvCidhna_Quest. Turns out Grisvar being dead was the key - resurrecting him allowed for setting the quest stage to 50 and seems to have triggered Madanach's follow-up dialogue and quests. Thanks for the details anyway. 1

Naps-On-Dirt Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I wanted to test the new bandit camp scenario but I couldn't get it to trigger. I was wearing a straightjacket, and went to the camp at the back base of Whiterun, and then to Halted Stream Camp (both outside and inside.) Both places I was attacked. I'll try with one of the other devices to see if they work better. Btw, I really like the change in restraints used in Pirate Prize and getting handed around Druadach Redoubt. HAven't tried the new Meet The Neighbors yet. Trying A Dish Served Hot right now, though I was able to just run out of the cave, only got stopped for sex along the way but was let out. I've gone back in to complete it properly. I don't think I've done this one before.
stobor Posted May 9, 2018 Author Posted May 9, 2018 @Naps-On-Dirt The camp at the base of Whiterun's walls isn't a named location at all, so I wouldn't expect a "Change Location" event to trigger there (which is what the quest is keyed off of). Halted Stream Camp however, works just fine for me w/ a straitjacket. You could probably try triggering the quest direct from console (DvCidhna_BanditCamp), if all else fails. Glad for the feedback on the restraint changes. I find the new options allow for a much wider range of available animations, and the sound FX for the chains (e.g. in Druadach) are great for immersion too.
Reesewow Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Just finished doing "Meet the Neighbors" - agree that the device changes are very welcome. I ended up with front wrist cuffs, which meant that I wasn't much restricted for animations even with DD filters on while wearing them. If I had one recommendation to make, it would be to block "femdom" as a tag when selecting animations during this quest (and possibly other quests where the tags searched for are defined). This probably wasn't an issue back when the mod was first released, but at this point several good femdom/bound male animations have been released, and the orcs had a habit of getting tied up and binding themselves to poles when they tried to start aggressive blowjob animations.

Or he reverses the roles of the actors if Femdom is a given keywords.

Possibly, but the vast majority of the animations in that quest are male orc -> female PC, I think it would be equally odd if the orc chieftan thought it would be a good idea to tie the player up, put a strapon on them and pretend to give them a blowjob.

I got '...' as a dialogue instead of the usual dialogue, she then gave erikur's line, i was teleported to the cave, and given the quest 'wait for the drugs to take effect' after an error stating the table could not be referenced, the master vampire then proceeded to talk to me in various '...' dialogues as if he was part of the pirate crew or erikur's sister gisli. I checked and did have old strings sitting around so I deleted them all, then did a clean install of the fomod and that seems to have fixed it. The previous version I had installed prior to this one was 1.8 so I expect it did not uninstall properly. Edit: I do still get an error stating lookup failed when looking at the journal entry, the npc dialogue is now working and the quest is titled properly, it just says 'LOOKUP FAILED" at the top of the quest entry. it doesn't seem to affect the quest functioning though.

Can confirm a "LOOKUP FAILED" message - I just got one doing the "Pirate Prize" quest right as I got the key to the door from the First Mate and "Escape!" became my objective. The description in the body of the quest also had "Lookup Failed" at that point. However, the quest still completed as normal without any noticeable issues once I left the boat and fast traveled away. 1
