Oh, so it's the Vald vessel not the Strange Vessel from the link. I'd never have got it anyway as I've never done the Thieves Guild.

Stupidly enough, I've never gotten it either. Mostly because by that time I've been stupidly rich and just paid Vald to fuck off and stop guarding his gate instead o' clearing his debt. xD

Since I loaded the USLEEP (one or two back) the ONLY method of progressing this quest I have had is to find the boat. I think I can find it in my sleep now. And yes by the time I do Thieves Guild quests it is not for the money either.

Currently doing a legacy of the dragonborn run through, so yeaa, this time Imma actually get that quill, it (or a replica of it) is goin' in my museum

I don't know where it is but I've just noticed the coin pouch to the left of the barrel at the back. Can't remember ever lifting it in-game so now I'm gutted

Nope there's a much easier way

When he moves over by the gate pickpocket the key. He usually notices and opens the gate to attack you and isn't that hard to kill even when lightly armoured like I am

If you want to go the Loverslab route, Sexlab Solutions adds a way to "negotiate" with Vald that might work for you.

I get the coin purse when I go through there, and usually a smattering of gems and jewelry. There is a second vampire (or maybe the smuggler, can't tell exactly who's in the nearby bed) to the right, and a Vigilant of Stendar in the cage in the pool over the railing.... in Mara's Eye Pond.

 

Tidbit: there is a quest added by ETaC in Morthal, fittingly enough, to track down a vampire. He is found here making for a 3 vampire fight in a small, enclosed space.

 I just punched Forsworn in that place not twenty minutes ago, then broke into that house to see if they had any rare weird nicknacks I might want for display (they didn't :[ )

 

Edit: Possibly shors stone, I remember an orc and breton miner living in a house there too, but  I forget if it had a basement or not :3

Unless I miss my guess that it the middle of Bloated Man's Grotto. I am usually in there twice. Once to collect Bolar's Oathblade (to be found at the foot of the shrine in your picture and then again for the Saviour's Hide (which I think is what you're doing now since I can't see the Oathblade).

 

So, how about I return the favor and give you an easy one.

 

As I said in my very first posting here, I like these old ruin (-looking things). My apologies to the First Lady of Hats, I know one of her gripes is that everything in Skyrim looks old.

It's the first time I've been in there twice, I normally only go there for Ill Met by Moonlight, but I had a radiant quest for Runil's journal. It was hard going as well with a load of spriggans, bears etc.

Frankly, I usually go in early to get the Oathblade so I CAN hunt spriggans. My character is usually a mage and it is a good way to build up the whole destruction by fire skills. Let me know when you you figure out which "ruin" I pictured above.

I have NEVER waltzed through. It has always been a tough dungeon for me (probably because I play it early as I mentioned). I bring lots of potions to survive and ALWAYS wind up spending enough time to completely heal in the spot that Slorm shows. Still it's all good fun, right?
