Hi,

 

Having a problem with quest markers not showing up, or at least not completely, for the second portion of the quest - where you have to run around and get items for Zed. The first marker was in Falskaar, the second was in Skyrim, and the third is... nowhere to be found. I've gone back and forth between the three continents multiple times (Falskaar, Skyrim, Solstheim), disabled and enabled the quest tracker multiple times, disabled tracking for all quests other than the forbidden tome quest just to make sure I wasn't losing it in a sea of markers - no dice.

 

My Papyrus log is attached and is basically just from starting the game, porting around to the three continents, and then quitting.

Type the following in console:

 

 

sqv zaddForbiddenTomeQuest

 

This should return quite a bit of information about the quest's current state. Listed, will be three variables named:

 

ZedMarker

DecoyMarker1

DecoyMarker2

 

After that, type:

 

player.moveto #######

 

Where ####### is the ID listed for each of the above three variables.

Looks like the last location is in a dungeon that I had already cleared (Alftand in Skyrim) - I'll run through it again to make sure I can actually find the item in there and I'll get back to you.

I've seen a few others with similar problems to mine in this topic, but none of their "fixes" have had any effect for me.  I have no MCM menu for this mod and cannot start the quest.  However, whenever I load up a game, it gives me the Initilizing Devious Devices 2.1... message, yet it never registers an MCM menu.  I tried placing it at the end of the load order, to no effect. Anyway, here is my load order and papyrus log.

 

EDIT: I'm not sure if this is entirely relevant, but this is on a brand new game using the Alt Start mod. I did leave the starting area, but still encountered my previously stated problems.

So, after unsuccesfully trying to reinstall it, I had a thought. Maybe Devious Devices is just lonely and doesn't want to register with MCM on its own. So I installed another mod (Sanguine's Debauchery in this case) and voila! Devious Devices decided to register along with Sanguine's Debauchery. Now I'm not a modder so I have no idea why this happened. But here is a copy of the latest papyrus log in case you would like to figure out what happened.

Scripts aren't running at all in that log: Try reinstalling? Perhaps the installation was not done properly.

So, after unsuccesfully trying to reinstall it, I had a thought. Maybe Devious Devices is just lonely and doesn't want to register with MCM on its own. So I installed another mod (Sanguine's Debauchery in this case) and voila! Devious Devices decided to register along with Sanguine's Debauchery. Now I'm not a modder so I have no idea why this happened. But here is a copy of the latest papyrus log in case you would like to figure out what happened.

One Thing - my actual Char on Lv14 - no MainQest by now - tried in hardcore - there is no Way to end your Questline

 

while one of Zed´s Objects is located in a DragonbornQuest relatet Dungeon.

 

Just tried to kill a Dragon, while i have to wait because of the orgasm, the Dragon refill his Lifepower :(

Haha. Sorry, known issue with 2.5.3 (Though, I completed the dragonborn quest myself, whilst belted ;)): If you wish to complete the quest, you can do the following:

 

 

sqv zaddForbiddenTomeQuest

 

Listed will be a few variables named "ContainerToFetchFrom1, ContainerToFetchFrom2, ContainerToFetchFrom3".

 

Type "player.moveto ########", where ######## are the id's of the variables output by the above-mentioned command.

Looks like the last location is in a dungeon that I had already cleared (Alftand in Skyrim) - I'll run through it again to make sure I can actually find the item in there and I'll get back to you.

 

 

 

OK so... I went through all of Alftand again and looted everything out of every chest - nothing. Tried teleporting myself straight to the suspect container in case I missed it (using the ContainerToFetchFrom refid's) - empty. I then went ahead and started the Moonpath content. After I did so, the Forbidden Tome quest marker showed up on the Skyrim map right on top of where the Moonpath content begins. I ran through all of Moonpath but still failed to find the item.

 

Then I tried selecting the missing item by its RefID using prid to figure out what exactly I was missing, and it turns out that item was already in my inventory... no idea when I picked it up, but most likely before I hit the second part of the Forbidden Tome quest. I couldn't drop the item since it's a quest item, so I had to force delete it and then re-add it using console commands. Once I did that, the quest updated properly.

 

I guess something bugged out at some point? idk, but seems to be working now.

Yes.

 

The next version is going to be the big update, adding some radiant/repeatable content, along with a bunch of good fixes and probably a new item. So that's what we're all holding our breath for at the moment.

 

But it could be a while. The mod is a collaboration between several people, and this update seems very ambitious, so... Two weeks™?

Min, just a gentle reminder: it would be nice to have custom keys working properly, for quest mods like mine.  Wouldn't want to distract you from the work at hand, but please don't forget about that issue.

Righto, no problem: Been pretty busy with work/etc lately, so haven't had as many hours to put in. Haven't forgotten about the bugfixes, will be coming up shortly. Should have time to finish those up within a couple days.

Hey all, just figured I'd take a moment to hype a short little journal-style story I've written based on the events of this mod through the first quest.  Took longer than I'd anticipated, mainly because I couldn't get away from playing Skyrim, but I finally finished it up today.  Take a look if you like.

Not bad at all and very entertaining - In a way it could even be regarded as a lore-friendly walk-through. I like it a lot and will definitely add a link to it in the mod description with the next update.

 

If you ever feel like writing more about the mod's devices I'll gladly turn them into an ingame book that could be added to the forbidden bookshelf and credit you in the readme.

Coincidentally I was also thinking about making additional 2d illustrations of some of the devices available (similar to the ones found in Curio's first book) for anyone who want to use them in their own Skyrim books.

 

Again, nice work and I'm looking forward to a potential sequel.

That would be great! I'm certainly considering doing some other short stories based on the mod; had a rather fortunate accident with a newer character I made where I accidentally equipped one of the belts plucked off a bandit.  So now she's running around bandit slaying, desperate to find the key. The fact that she's a Thalmor agent seems all the more fitting, so I might be doing something on this idea.

 

Sequel to this one is very likely to happen, though that might just be after the next big update ;)

Not sure if someone has raised this problem up before, but I seem to get the devices constantly added to my character so that the messages "It's impossible to wear more than one belt/plug/etc" and they clog up my inventory.

 

Any fixes?
