Good look, RC. ;)

Steam all fixed for you now?

It seems so however I discoverd that my iconcache.db was also corrupted. I had to rebuild the icons for my windows installation..The files that were locked or messed up could have been from the AppData. That might explain somethings

I have been sending people here the better part of the past two weeks. .. hope I didn't make you guys, gals and other aliens too  busy... :)

Had to delete most of my saves among 4 characters after I started getting constant CTDs on save with my latest one.  Oh well, I suppose that's the price I pay for being a mod addict.  And no, no solution online seemed to help in the long run.  I blame MO for giving me an excuse to stuff any mod I wanted in there.

Although thanks to MO, I don't have to delete my Skyrim installation xP But yeah, MO can't protect you from mods going wrong :P

/goes to install more mods.

the real problem its the corrupted saves because of some mods, keep a look at posts about mod X or Y and seen what people say (the majority) before install, belive i do that and same if i find the mod X great or great looking i dnt install at all, also if wanna test just after install before even load / enter game run tes5cleaning to test that, belive that helps.

this manager feels like magic!  i really couldn't care less about the cleaned up data folder, but the sheer fact that i can go in and see what's being overwritten by what and on the fly rearrange that is priceless.  running everything through MO is nice too, since now i dont have a column of .exe icons on my desktop.

When I open Creation Kit inside MO, I can't see any files located in bsd files of enables mods.

How to make MO include all bsd files automatically for Creation Kit, just like it does for TES5Edit?

Okay. I tried to create a new profile and while it worked it put all my installed mods in alphabetical order or something because now it's all messed up. Does the order of the list on the left side matter at all or does MO just use the ESP load order on the right to decide priority?

Even if the installed mods list on the left pane don't matter I'm still pretty pissed because I like to have them in a certain order anyway for conveinence purposes. :|

Load priority is determined by the order you set on the right side of the MO application. Yes, it automatically sets your available mods list in alphabetical order once you start a new profile, it shouldn't effect your active mod load order however. Your mods will still work exactly the same as they did before you started a new profile, load priority in game is still set by the .esp load order on the right side.  I have no idea why MO places a new profiles available mods list in alphabetical order but it's one of those things it has always done.

I loaded a game and everything still works with the old profile but like you said, it's in alphabetical order now. Oh well, I'm thankful that everything still works though, just hafta reset it myself I guess. :\ So frustrating, my mods are a mess now. I must have order!

Is there anywhere to suggest things? I'd like to suggest locking the installed order on the left if you want to. :P

While the load list can be sorted by BOSS or LOOT, the left mod list has to be arranged manually, according to which file would be "overwritten" by another (which is why mods cannot be arranged alphabetically); the mod below is placed greater importance than the one above it.

This is what confuses me. Does the list on the left have to be ordered correctly or can I leave it a mess if I want to? My esp load order on the right is still the same and the game loaded like it did before I tried creating a new profile.

And now I can't manually move mods, just tries to highlight everything. Almost becoming more trouble than it's worth.

Simple fix.

Go to the profiles folder. Select the profile that you want and copy the loadorder.txt and the modlist.txt and place that copy into the profile you have that is screwed up.

Now in the future .. "copy" the profiie that has the closest setup that you desire for the current profile instead of the "create" ..

The list on the left is the mod order. In NMM terms it is the mod installation order. Those below or lower on the list overwrite those above. The flags let you know which is overwriting which. you only need to focus on those mods with flags stating there are overrides. The others have no conflict.. there fore no problems. ( these are related to textures, meshes and sound. )

a is overwritten by

b which is overwritten by

c.. ( going down the list. )

Now if the records on a or b need to be present you need to them down the list towards the bottom until the flag or overrides are correct.

If it's so important, why does Mod Organizer completely mess up the order you installed the mods in when simply creating a new profile?

There isn't a check box to lock that order in place? :(

There is nothing I hate more than when Mod Managers take it upon themselves to scew with the order of things I set.

If you CREATE, all mods for that profile are loaded alphabetical and disabled. Nothing screwed up.

If you COPY, it may sort them by name, but Priority is still ok. Just click it to sort by priority again.

You could backups of the loadorder.

Hi, guys. I've encountered a strange problem with TES5edit after making the jump away from NMM and BOSS to using LOOT with Mod Organizer.

When I run TES5edit, I get a scary error message.

It reads 'Fatal. Could not determine my documents folder'.

When I was using my original profile in MO, without any of the CBBE body or SG textures I've added, TES5edit completed without difficulty. But now it is also producing this error message.

Any suggestions for resolving this?

No not for the new profile if created "new". It does alphabet  With profiles there are a save and restore button on top of the panel that can allow you to restore it to x number of changes back. I have used it and it works quite well.  You can fix it as well by going to the profile of choice and coping the two files I mention. ( ignore any dates and such) and pasting them into the profile that has issues. .. what I do when I make major changes in the lord order from one of my profiles and decide I like it and then transfer it to the Default

It isn't actually screwing with the load order it is just transferring it over. . There is  a developing system with Loot and MO that will sort those mods that have to be used before or after other mods. It is a work in process. Hopefully soon it would be like regular load orders and ordered for you. Then you just tweak any special needs or desires you want. Also as stated above no harm is done as they aren't active.

I know it sucks. I didn't like it the first time it happened. Now I just copy the profile I want ( keep the default nice and clean with the proper order as I add mods to the list then just copy. click the mods desired .. and then move to the load order, FNIS setup and then play. It takes about 3 minutes at most to set up a new profile. many times less.

FYI..

I ran into a problem now that I have a base Skyrim set up and working well. Made a backup.. ( of course) and then started installing Sexlab .. just the basics. Matchmaker. Submit and Defeat etc. Nothing advanced. I had been using 1.57 and works great. Now upgrading to 1.59. Not so great. .. well now seems to be working..

Here is the issue. Others might run into it and waste several hours because they relied on the MO sort ( left side) to tell them of potential issues. MO is warning me about SOS being above Sexlab in the order / priority. It wants to lower it. However if it is lowered it overwrites files in Sexlab and Sexlab don't work. Gives warning about utilities and paperus etc. Perhaps that might be something AwefulArchdemon might what to check. If truly an issue let Tannin know or who ever needs to know so that that sort can be fixed. First spoiler = Mod list. Second = Load order. Just in case.

Mostly I posted this in case other MO users had any issues so that they can try this fix and see if it works for them. Will be testing now. So far it works well.

The way MO wants to sort the mods seems to be based on the load order.  If you move the .esps so that the load order reflects MO's suggestions, it should stop showing this report for the mods in question.  ie I have the unofficial patches and the SMPC patches in the correct mod order. LOOT, for some reason still doesn't put them as it should, it places the last SMPC module a number of positions lower, causes MO to report that mods need moving, but if I move the .esp to its normal position, the way the patches are set up in my load order, the warning for the patches stops.

Posted

Thanks Bob.. I didn't know that. I thought both sides were separate. I moved Schlongs of Skyrim - Core.esm above Sexout ( to match the general mods installation ... left side) and it corrected the issue. No more warnings.

So indeed the install order is loosely based on the load order. ( Left side / mod installation order and right side/ mod load order) So when an error occurs check BOTH sides. Make sure that the mod is installed in the order needed on the left and Right side... Now if only I remember this when it happens again..

Well in my case . Loot usually fixed the right side which solved the left sides problem most of the time .. So I never had that problem before.. Learn something new every day.

Sorry everyone. Been super busy with schoolwork and other comp stuff. Been learning coding and I lose track of whole days when I start making new batch files.

Okay. Let's see here...

When I open Creation Kit inside MO, I can't see any files located in bsd files of enables mods.

How to make MO include all bsd files automatically for Creation Kit, just like it does for TES5Edit?

BSD files? (boundary scan description?) You mean esp? Esm? Ya lost me with BSD. If you mean plugins, they should all show up when you click the yellow "folder" icon at the top, right under the 'File' tab, on the far left. Do you have CK in your Skyrim folder?

If it's so important, why does Mod Organizer completely mess up the order you installed the mods in when simply creating a new profile?

There isn't a check box to lock that order in place? :(

There is nothing I hate more than when Mod Managers take it upon themselves to scew with the order of things I set.

It doesn't "completely mess it up". You created a new profile. MO keeps a record of mods you've added/arranged since creating your profile. Making a new one means nothing is checked, and therefore has no set priority. There are multiple ways to make a new profile with the correct load order intact.

Am i the only one that actually liked the fact it organized my mods from A to Z?

Only if the priorities stay intact. ;) And only "by choice".

You're getting that error because TES5Edit can't complete it's loading process. This occurs when mods are corrupt (unlikely) or out of order (highly likely).

Question for...someone:

I wonder, is the "could not determine my documents folder" error normal? I haven't had an error in TES5Edit for so long I can't remember :P. What's worse, I just went to TES5Edit to purposely get an error to find out, and I can't get an error. I screwed up plugins so bad...but no errors being reported. Put them out of order as hell, deactivated necessary plugin...all good :-/. Wtf? Come on TES5Edit! I should have errors for days!

Why is it I can never get an error when I actually want one? <_<

Anyway, does it say anything else? Is that the end of the error msg? I know the "my docs" error may throw you off, but the fact that you got the error after adding that CBBE and SG stuff tells me they're responsible. Check their load order.

Maybe he means .bsa files?

Hey guys,

i have some problems with mod organizer and nifskoope. i made a hdt hair mod but after switching from NMM to MO the mod dosen't load the textures anymore.

i tried to set another path for the textures but it didn't help.

it seems that the mod dosen't find the right textures path.

I hope someone can help me:)

Ah. Maybe. In that case I don't know. I'm not sure you can. I've never seen bsa's show up in CK. Not surprising, since making a plugin (esp) is CK's primary purpose.

Did you get an error saying 'no game data on top level' when you installed it? If so, see corespore's post above.

I see more and more modders using tgz for their  downloads instead of 7zip. How can I get MO to recognize these files to install them?

Up until now I have been converting them to zip files but there must be an easier way.

Having a problem getting the right animations too play. I'm using the YY Mystic Knight Anim Replacer but all the animations I see are vanilla. Do I need too have FNIS at the bottom of my load order or on top of all the other animations. Oh, I'm using a walk/run animation and that plays if that helps.

I haven't ran into that problem yet as I haven't found any tgz packed mods. ( any links?) If it truly not working perhaps Awefularchdemon can check and see if that is on the "working on' list for MO support. ( if possible). If not perhaps he can suggest this, especially if there are mods being created using that package.

Not 100% sure. However FNIS only checks and creates files that allow the game engine to access and run these animations. I don't think it really matters were it is in the load order however I usually have it above the animations mods myself. Could be that some of the animations being added by Mistic or another mod is overwriting the animations of another mod and that is the reason for not being able to get the right animations to play. Since I am assuming you are using MO move the mod that you want to have the animations to the lower if not the bottom of the left side ( install order) and test with that. That should help with the conflicts. ( or you can look into the conflicts of animations in the conflict panel of MO) If that isn't' the case I have no idea, sorry haven't used those mods yet.

I heard this was Internet Explorer changing the filename, possibly because it detects DEFLATE compression in 7z files.
