Does anyone know if its possible to use Mod organiser if i'm already using NMM and isntalled like 90+ mods with it?

Yes. Install MO. Then install the 90+ mods you have installed in NMM and delete NMM.. :D.

Yes, yes you want to use MO for the new stuff and NMM for the other stuff. Nobody here does that that I am aware of. It isn't advised as MO wouldn't be able to do its "Stuff' with any files in NMM provided it worked at all.

If you are fine currently with NMM and everything works.. don't do anything. Just enjoy your games. If you are having problems or need updates etc. Then it might be the time to convert. I don't recommend any other path.

If you are determined to do so check the STEPS project links in my sig and check out the requirements and possible problems.

I use mo for Skyrim. I have been working for about a week for a clean complex install. I could have had the basics done in about 15 minutes.. However I am using MO to managed the conflicts. I install a mod and then move it to get the files I want shown in game. Here are a few PIcs showing what you can do.. Keep in mind these are not ENB pics. No ENB. No strain on my computer either. yet I get much of the ENB goodness ..

MO made it possible for me to combine High texture packs, SIMM, Light, Amedianborn textures and others in just the best way to get the best results with minimum stress on my graphic card and No ENB. I am able to do this easily ( could do it with NMM but harder) because I can see what is overwriting what. I just move them around , test, move, test , move test etc until I get just the right combo. I have yet started to "hide" the files that are needed on those few mods that are overrode but still have a few files that aren't quite what I want. ;).

If you are familiar with any of the mods listed in the spoiler you can easily tell that many on my list override several on the list above them. Only with MO am I able to see what is being affected in a easy to manage way.

The choice is up to you.. The right way or the hard way

MO prompted me with an update today to 1.2.11, and now whenever i try to run SKSE it launches FNIS even though i've done so already for the profile. So i go through with it, but skyrim doesn't launch and the unlock window doesn't leave (MO doesn't even lock in the first place). This happens anytime FNIS is launched and i'm hesitant to try and do anything in case it does it again. I can close the main window but have to use the task manager to close it before i can open it again. Anybody know what's happening? And can i revert version without reinstalling?

Edit: Forgot to mention that i looked at the STEP forums but it seems no one's reported it there yet, and since i've the account here but not there that's why i'm asking here.

No problems here.

Back up the MO folder just in case so that you can recover the files needed. then you can try to fix the issue with confidence. Likely you just got some settings off. Never had that problem so I wouldn't know. I am assuming that you do have the selector for SKSE instead of FNIS.. If that is the case then check to be sure that the links are properly set and not messed up. Though I don't know how that can happen.

When you got the prompt, did you switch to the new version, or did your current version start doing this just after the prompt about the new version?

Check your binaries and make sure they're still the same as before (correct). It sounds like MO is trying to run all the wrong things when you run it.

Worst case, remove FNIS from the executables so MO can't even attempt to run it, check to see if MO is running the right things, then reinstall it/add it back to the executables and see what it does.

And yes, you can go back to an older version. Just drag the mods folder out of MO and put it in the old MO, and do the same for the profiles folder.

Honestly, just getting that message shouldn't have messed anything up if you're still using the last version.

Question.

has anybody else had problems updating MO installed for FNV? It goes through the process ( auto update) like Skyrim however it states the files cannot be updated. I forget the exact read out on the panel below MO. Skyrim worked like a charm. I believe it is because it is accessing Nexus for the update and MO is in the Skyrim section and not FNV. Being that is the case it won't download a mod that isn't listed in the Nexus links as  a FNV mod or file.

Posted

Wait, MO is in your Skyrim folder and you're trying to play FNV??

I believe it is because it is accessing Nexus for the update and MO is in the Skyrim section and not FNV.

Or do you mean MO is looking in the Skyrim section of Nexus for it's FNV updates? Your post could mean either one.

Did you move the MO you used for Skyrim to FNV or something? Sounds like a MO code snafoo either way :P

I think this just started popping up when I click various things in MO.

"QAccessibleWidget::rect: This implementation does not support subelements! (ID 81 unknown for QWidget)" Said things still work but I'm just wondering what this means.

Posted

Ignore unless it causes problems. It's just telling you that something you clicked wasn't meant to interact with...whatever you interacted with in that way. You should be fine. Stop clicking various things! :D

Attention!

I finally uploaded the newest MO. My problem was as I suspected; too many things uploaded to the OP. Please refer to the note on the OP.

At this point, old versions will disappear as new ones come out. Not to worry. I still have all versions. Just not uploaded to the OP. ;)

Sorry. My thoughts is FNV isn't updating using the update button because MO is in the Skyrim section. MO thinks that is a Skyrim game file and don't allow the download because it knows it is managing FNV.. Smart huh? :D. The same would occur if you tried to open or download a Skyrim mod when FNV is open. I had to manually update it from 1.2.10 to 1.2.11. Skyrim worked like a dream.

Does it work after the update?? Or is that pic from the new version?

No that is just the standard pic for when you try to download using nexus downloader while the wrong MO is open. Nothing strange there. That is just an example of what might be the case when you try to updated FNV MO setup. It checks the links and see it as a Skyrim link. Tannin perhaps might want to change the download link to something outside of Nexus for the automatic update?

Hey guys, I was wonder if there any guides for installing SkyProc mods(namely DualSheathRedux)? I have been searching and I couldn't find any. thx

Hey guys,

i have some problems with mod organizer and nifskoope. i made a hdt hair mod but after switching from NMM to MO the mod dosen't load the textures anymore.

i tried to set another path for the textures but it didn't help.

it seems that the mod dosen't find the right textures path.

I hope someone can help me:)

think i might know whats wrong. The file path that NMM and MO use are almost the same but Mo uses one less folder. If your building a mod for MO you don't need to package your textures with a Data folder, for example. Data\textures\armor mod x\ armor.dds. When using MO the filepath is automatically set within the data folder so trying to load a mod that has that set as the first folder becomes redundant and therefore will not load properly. Other then that it's exactly the same, so the new filepath should look something like textures\armor modx\armor.dds.

Also, there might be an issue within the .nif itself. Some meshes have two or even several texture filepaths. The dragonbone weapons have two texture filepaths and it took me a solid week to figure that out. I was able to change the metal parts but i failed to set the correct filepath for the bone parts so they refused to show up. I've never dealt with a hair mesh before but it might be worth a look to see if they are using two or more texture filepaths.

I forgot somehow that i posted here :o

But thanks for your reply=)

I didn't know what the problem was but a guy from LL solved it ^^' but he didn't tellme how ;(

The hair uses indeed 2 textures from another mod, but it seems that he only changed the path of the .xml file and put a meta.ini in it.

But to leave out the data folder could be the reason.

Good place for Tutorials is S.T.E.P: http://wiki.step-project.com/Dual_Sheath_Redux

Or my OP... <_<

- Get SkyProc mods to work:

Install the mod. In the data tab, search for skyproc patchers/mymod/mymod.jar (example skyproc patchers/asis/asis.jar)
Add it as executable

I find it a lot more convenient to use multiple MO installations for different Skyrim setups, rather than relying on MO's profiles. This will surely require more disk space, but you'll be able to keep track of your mods in each setup much more easily.

As an example, you can organize the directories like this...

C:\Skyrim\Downloads\ Common directory for your Nexus mod downloads which is to be used for all of your MO installations. You just need to point to it in your MO settings.

C:\Skyrim\MO1\  Installation directory for the first MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO1\mods\  Installed mods for the first MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO1\profiles\  Profiles for the first MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO2\  Installation directory for the second MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO2\mods\  Installed mods for the second MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO2\profiles\  Profiles for the second MO setup

C:\Skyrim\MO3\... Even more separate MO installations are possible, though in my case I didn't need more than two.

You should also create two shortcut icons for each of these setups, one for MO's executable, and another one for, again MO's exe but this time it takes skse_loader.exe as a command line parameter (which is in your Steam Skyrim folder).

FYI. Same can be done with the MO for Fallout 3/NV setups.

Anyway, I now have two separate MO installations for Skyrim on my PC (and another one for Fallout NV), and I needed two different icons for them so I decided to create them myself and while I was at it, created a few more, just in case.

So here's a bunch of colored (RGB and Y) Skyrim icons for multiple MO installations, you might need them if you're thinking of doing the same.

Why would someone need multiple MO setups? Well, I have a Skyrim setup with an earlier version of SexLab (1.35?) and it's quite stable. I'm now level 130 (if you can believe that!) and I haven't even started Dawnguard yet, and I really don't want to break this nice setup, but OTOH, I want to try out all the new mods for the newest version of SL. So, by having two different MO setups I can easily do that. Absolutely no chance of destroying my stable Skyrim setup by mistake.

How to . . .

-Get FNIS to work:

For crying out loud, unzip FNIS to any folder, open the 'Data' folder inside, take out the 'tools' folder, and put it in the ...\Skyrim\Data folder, rename 'Data' to 'FNIS', and zip FNIS back up without the 'tools' folder. Install to MO. Add GenerateFNISforUsers.exe (in the 'tools' folder) as an executable.

Actually, there's another way.

  • You can install FNIS just like you install any other mod in MO, just make sure to right click the "Data" directory inside the package and choose "Set data directory".
  • You can then add GenerateFNISforUsers.exe file inside the mod directory as an executable in MO.
  • Just don't touch the "tools" folder, there's no need to move it to Skyrim\Data folder or anywhere else, you'd want to keep Skyrim\Data folder clean.
  • Now, whenever you need to run FNIS (which you should run from within MO), MO will place all the newly generated files into the "overwrite" folder. You can either leave them there (you can safely delete the "tools" folder inside the "overwrite" folder) or you can make a new mod with the Meshes and Scripts folders generated inside the "overwrite" folder. I personally delete the new "tools" folder and leave all the other files inside the "overwrite" folder.

Nice! You could even use hardlinks if you use the same mod in both installations to save some space. Basic Mods like USKP etc.

Yeah yeah, I know. :P I haven't updated the OP yet. Still, it works.

Nice! You could even use hardlinks if you use the same mod in both installations to save some space. Basic Mods like USKP etc.

Well, you can probably create symbolic links inside the second mods folder pointing to each mod directory in the first installation folder. Although only if you're really worried about disk space as it'll require an extra effort to do that. On Windows 7 you can do it like this...

  • First, using Windows command prompt, get the list of all the mods inside Skyrim\MO1\mods, which is the first MO installation, using "DIR /D" command.

  • You can then use a text editor and turn each line in the above list into something like:

MKLINK /D <MOD_NAME> <FULL_PATH_TO_TARGET_MOD_DIRECTORY> and then save the list as a batch file. Here's an example line...

MKLINK /D "Unofficial Skyrim Patch 2.0.6" "C:\Skyrim\MO1\mods\Unofficial Skyrim Patch 2.0.6"

(i.e. Symbolic Link NameActual Directory Path)

  • Now run the batch file inside Skyrim\MO2\mods directory. You now have symbolic links in your MO2\mods folder pointing to each and every mod installed in MO1\mods. In an Explorer window these symbolic directories would have a shortcut symbol beside their icons as they are basically a shortcut.

Just make sure that you don't delete these directories using DEL command, otherwise you'll lose the original directory. Use RMDIR instead, or just delete them from within an Explorer window.

I've just tested this method in MO and it works. If you decide to delete a mod that is accessed through a symbolic link in MO, MO will only delete the symbolic link and won't touch the actual mod directory, so the method is pretty safe to use.

FYI. Just replaced my second MO installation with symbolic links pointing to the first, and saved 8GB of disk space... :)

@bjornk.

What is the process you use for those mods that require to be loaded with FOMM ( fmods, Hud mods etc)? Last time I attempted MO with FNV FOMM had hissy fits. Thanks
