oddly enough kb downloads seem to be fine only when it gets to over 100mb zip files that the download speed from this site seems to die.

Just echoing the comments of a few others, thank you Ashal for the Edit Details Silently feature for mod pages.  It's so very useful to be able to update the description page without having to wait to publish another mod version or spam users with a misleading notification.

just another chipping in, ref site speed.   ive never had this site so slow, downloading files is significantly painful  getting on average 200 kb/s download speed, despite having i 1gb connection.

 

just wondering if theres a known issue?

What is the max size of mods (or games) that we can upload?

Myself I cannot upload a file that is more than 250Mb but I see other people adding files of a few Gigabytes.

Is there some sort of privilege to be acquired? (Number of downloads, number of followers, number of posted mods? Subscription to the site? etc?)

There's a total upload limit of 10GB per user. Maybe you're close to that limit?

The 10gb limit is actually new and specific to attachments, not download pages. It used to be unlimited up until a few days ago. The limit, for the record, was added because the site was running out of storage space with its current servers.

 

I recently reviewed all the attachment files to free up space for the future and found that about 1/4th of the site disk space was taken up by random attachments that were over 2 years old, were larger than 300mb, and had less than 10 downloads. These were 95% either people sending big files over PM or obnoxiously big(>300mb) gif/mp4 files in "screenshot" threads that would've been like 50mb if they were made into .webm files instead.

 

Some people even used upwards of 100GB of space for attachments by themselves, mostly by reuploading the same 500+ mb file multiple times in private messages to people.

 

I hate to add limits to the site, but we aren't a private file storage or a video host. We are a mod directory site. So I added the 10gb limit to accounts to prevent such heavy abuse of attachments. However, I'll note subscribers and contributors remain immune to this new limit and maintain unlimited storage - so long as it isn't abused.

 

But as I said, this limit does not apply to content uploaded to the download pages, only attachments.

So I would like to know how to use imgbox to insert images on LL afterwards.

When you upload the images you should get directly to the options to post it

Be wary that the first codes the site gives you are for thumbnails, you will want the full size of course.

 

Then just copy paste the BB code as it is and the images will show up as if you uploaded them on LL.

 

 

It's usually a good idea to use an image hoster for blog entrys. That way we speed up our own loading times and the severs of LL stay untouched by us 🤔

Yeah, I found it.
This is what I did for my chapter that I just released a few minutes ago.
It seems much more practical to me, we do not screw the eternal error 500 which prevents the images from being displayed.

That is also another good reason to do it this way. We also avoid losing entire chapters to accidents or other unforseen happenings. Plus you get your entire chapters uploaded and ready to post if you ever need to repost them.

And your readers with slower internet can benefit from it too on busy weekends

I have never had chapter losses except perhaps the images that are difficult to appear at times.
But now I would go through imgbox.
It is much more fluid and convenient for images and anyway, to repost images with the LL system, if I empty a good half of my image quota.
Which is too long.

Hey, I wasn't familiar with that site but it seems like a great idea to avoid crashing LL with so many attach files, so thanks a lot, is there something similar for the videos? Of course some NSFW site

Imgbox has a link that sends you to a site called sendvid but I only upload images and gifs so I can't tell about their site politics 🤔 Should be easy to find out tho.

Personally, I go through imgbox which is much more convenient than Loverslab’s failed image system.
I copy the images or link and paste them into the text box.
Right now, I’m redoing my blog chapters, because on some chapters, more than half of the images are saved because of the site’s bugs.

site suggestion: delete all mods that have been on the site for over a year but don't even have 200 downloads. (even i have some files that would fall under this)

I am one of those sinners having spent over 50 GB. I will clean up my attachments.

 

But please don't delete my animation Blog. It represents hundreds of hours of work. And many new users depend on them.

 

I admit I have uploaded some pics/vids multiple times. I also admit that I have used MP4 960x540 resolution, which could have been smaller.

 

 

But I will never get under the 10 GB limit. My Blog is more than 10 GB alone.

 

So I would have to redo 150-200 videos trying to achieve the same hotness again. Then I would rather that the whole thing is deleted.

 

But then I would get 500000 PM's about where the previews are.

 

 

I have used LoversLab to avoid linking to Porn sites that are infected with all kinds of shit. But now I am cut off from attachments until I delete 45-50 GB.

 

 

Edit.: Already deleted 5 GB worth of videos from my own support thread and Post Your Sex Screenshots.

 

I hope others will do the same, so we can get a faster site. It will be either images or small videos from me in the future.

 

Now I am going to sleep...

Just deleted about 300 large attachments ranging from 225 mb to 45 mb.

 

I can see a noticeable difference in loading times.

 

 

I would advise other members to delete unwanted large attachments. You will notice the difference. I guarantee it!!!

 

 

Edit.: Finished my cleanup. Down to 400 attachments. Started with over 3000. Only my Blog and Club have attachments now.

 

LoversLab was fast Yesterday morning. Then it got really slow later. Think people here should take a look on their attachments.

I updated their account to subscriber so they'd have the storage space to handle their blog.

 

Attachment abuse is a problem, but I'm mainly looking to restrict attachment abuse primarily from people abusing the storage space for private messages and "screenshot" threads. I'm not looking to interrupt people maintaining relevant and trafficked blogs. So, I am willing to give them free subscriber status so they can maintain their blogs' videos. Though it'd be preferable, they move to webm or externally hosted videos in the future to save space.

My Blog will not be expanded. I consider the public Blog finished. It is there for new and current users to see previews of my animations.

 

Only thing I will be adding is an occasional new small video for my members in the Club. Maybe some pics in the "Post You Sex Screenshots" once in a while.

Also, here's a quick site status update: I recently purchased a new file storage server that should double the site's available storage and alleviate some of the bandwidth problems. Hopefully, I'll have it set up and ready by next weekend. I can't really afford this additional server right now, though, to be honest, it adds an extra $350/month to my costs for running the site that I don't have. But I bought it anyway, in hopes that it'll help speed up the site overall and, in turn, maybe improve ad revenue and subscribestar enough to make up for it.

 

I'm aware of how poorly the site has been running lately. So, I'm hoping these infrastructure investments will pay off in the long run, even though I really can't afford them right now.
