I keep thinking that there is a dedicated hall in hell for them ? Somewhere very close to the hall for corrupt officials and self-proclaimed holy people ?

what really makes me happy is when its bedtime for the kids next door, that way I don't have to listen "frozen let it go" for the millionth time!!!!!!!!

I think the parents will agree with you.    However, I do miss those days when my girls would ask dad to sing to them when they went to bed.   Of course I picked a song that was well within my vocal range (and skill level, but I am no Harvey Presnell!!....the song is in the spoiler link if interested).

Spoiler

If the words of this song would come true

I would be happy if John Lennon had never imagined Imagine. I'll just have to settle for imagining that Imagine was never imagined until I am infuriated to find out that it really existed after all.

Helping my patients. Even though being an RN can be unbelievably anxiety inducing and I’ve more than likely developed some sort of PTSD during this pandemic, doing the littlest things to make my patients smile or happy warms my heart. I had this cute little old lady and per hospital policy EVERYONE gets no-skid socks because it helps prevent falls. I was getting her up to pee when I realized she didn’t have any socks on her feet. I was like, where are your socks? She laughed and said she’d been asking for socks for the longest. It baffled me because she had been there for a few days already, the supply room was like two feet away. How could she not get socks?! I asked her if she gets cold or was cold and she was like, YES ALL THE TIME. I laughed and told her after she peed I’d get her some goodies. Once I got her back in bed I ran off and got her the socks and warm blankets. The smile on her face when I came back was enough to make my night. Yes I’m there to help you get better, but also, make sure you’re not freezing ? the little things really make a difference, at least from what I’ve seen. A lot gets lost in the shuffle, especially if they end up in critical care with me and I’m like, I’m trying to prevent you from going to the ICU ? but then I have to step back and remember I need to be “holistic” and take care of everything, not just their BP or O2 etc.  That and being with my family. During Covid we all quarantined together. The best day I remember was when my siblings, their kids, and my Mom celebrated my Mom’s birthday. After eating cake we played Uno and it was just so wholesome. It made me appreciate what I have and also helped me see that maybe getting married and settling down soon wouldn’t be so bad.

First, just thank you for being considerate and not just doing your 'job'. The hospitals down here I've noticed that they don't seem to care beyond doing exactly what's expected of them and nothing more (sometimes they can't even manage that!). Second, please don't ever change. :)

You are so kind, thank you ❤️ Heehee, and I promise I won't! Everyone gets warm blankies on my shift!

But that does make me sad to hear that because more often that not, the bare minimum doesn't cut it. If a patient knows the person taking care of them actually cares about them and that their not just a task to be crossed off the list, it can change the entire trajectory of their outcome.

Health Care Reform.... why can't the bean counters and politicians get that right? I've no qualms with health care professionals making a very good salary because they do very demanding work and hospitals themselves need a good, steady flow of capital to keep things running, buy new equipment, etc. It's the ones like Big Pharma that's charging way too much for stuff like a freakin aspirin and other stuff.

For instance, my girlfriend had to undergo open heart surgery twice in a few months and was hit with a bill for half a mil that just devastated her financially and made her lose her coverage. It's not like she didn't need a LOT more care either since she was fighting cancer. So she had to consider mortgaging her house, selling her car and stuff that wouldn't have even paid for a fraction of it all. I'm sure that was a factor in her kind of just wanting to give up in the end. So sad.... and so very frustrating considering it is something that most of us will have to face at some time in our lives if we haven't already.

Yea I think if you take more socialist approach, government would be more pressured into regulating people life so they stay healthier and people would feel more obligated to take care their own health and not to burden the hospitals so those who are actually just unlucky can receive proper medical attention, hopefully... In China, you actually get rewarded for not overly indulging in fast food and buying local produce by the social credit. But yea, the social credit system is spying over every action by you.

Really must share your secret for keeping your relationships that well, Eva. Mine are always a fucking swirling mess. :classic_tongue:

Listening to my Yamaha network receiver with fiber optic link to music on my PC.   JBL 300 Watt subwoofer with 4 way bookshelf speakers at 150 Watts per channel.  Also with a good beer.

Just don't listen to a disaster movie with the volume turned high.  You know how you turn it up to hear the narrative and then a comet hits the Earth.  That subwoofer made the house shake literally and then people came running wanting to know "What's is going on?"  Embarrassing and also Satisfying!
