Hmm..... a whole lot of "preemptive" dialogue to unpack here. In both documents.

The ransom note reads like it was written by a teenager.

"EPICALLY pwned!" Seriously? Is this still a thing among today's hacker kids? ?

Because it's a false flag attack apparently.

Somebody wants CDPR dead.

Somebody who bought their shares short.

Just my wild guess.

As I said in a previous post, this is too targeted at the corpos. Someone wants to obliterate the company for whichever reason. The ones that suffer the most from this, aren't the corpos, though...

What "corpos"? CDPR HQ, those amateurs? What I'm talking about is more serious than that. If you followed the whole GameStop stock drama, Parler drama - the part where "investors" throw out the founder of the company, the whole Covid drama with dirty games around IT giants' stocks - you realize that people with money started acting real, real dirty recently. Short the stock, drive the price down, tear them apart, make money, buy them out. Those people make Mexican drug cartels and Russian mobsters of 1990s look like the good guys with at least some integrity. Hollywood was known for a long time to be a money laundering farm, and I've suspected for quite some time already that the gaming industry was turning into the one as well. This perfectly explains why companies may afford coming up with shitty remakes and infinite iterations of the same crap stuffed with political messaging over and over again, instead of entertaining their users. The whole system of investments, finances and stock market is fucked up to the point of no return, and this is why so many governments behave in a batshit-crazy way - because they are supposed to be demolished soon. I've seen it before, more than 30 years ago.

CDPR's fukkup is just one, small, episode of that.  I've lived through the disintegration of socialism, but I never thought I'd live long enough to see the same happening with capitalism as well. If you, someone out there, is either a libertarian or a communist, don't cheer yourself up - it ain't gonna be pretty. And if you ask me when things went wrong for CDPR - it was the moment when they started dancing with the devil. They shouldn't have been taking their money.

Like it or not, they're still CDPR's corpos.

"(...) that people with money started acting real, real dirty recently (...)" - Recently? Poor, innocent child. Replace "recently" with "forever".

Apparently Gwent's source code is up for sale on some underground forum.

So if they faked this attack, they sure are going all out with it :classic_laugh:

Oh, probably all 100 years of your life, sure.

I don't remember markets preventing unwashed peasants from buying stocks in the past because this could hurt hedge funds. The game was always rigged but at least has some facade of civility and "free market" to it. Powers were at least pretending to protect the little man from unlawful actions and keep stability.

The last year was the one when the masks were taken off completely.

Modding Community Fix Everything wrong with the Game in one Mod

Lol, I was at a assault in progress and there were 3 of those carts, i never see them when I'm on foot, they should be far more present. I wanted to ride one of them and then you linked to it. kismet. There are some really good mods that fix lots of things in the game and add some interesting new content. Looking forward to better mods and tools.

Err... sure... if you think so, and all that. You do you.

Anyway...

Does anyone think that someone will bid/buy the source codes? I'm not seeing a lot of buyers, except maybe, certain countries that don't care about copyrights or using stolen code/assets.

More importantly, CDPR issued a warning to employees (they say "former", I think it's for all of them) about their data. For all we know, their data might already be in some spot in the darkweb.

Edit: So, it's not just the source code for the games. They got their hands on the Red Engine itself.

Ransomware is a Pain in the Nerve, not only 'stealing' but encrypting your Data avoiding to you to reach it.

I expect (hope), they catch this Fuckers (Blackhat Hackers), and they beat their Asses up

As for CdProjekt Red Developers, Team and Cyberpunk 2077 Game I hope this is not 'a real Problem' to Schedule, upcoming Patches etc...

I want to think, that Data Backup strategy and Security/Contention Measures are important in an important Studio like CdProjekt Red.

... I don't know the real Impact, Damage, caused to the Studio, if any (beyond the Leak itself of classified Information), I hope it is minimal, and Backup/Security contra-Measures will work well.

Cheers

I'd be upset but the sheer incompetence of CDPR's execs has me laughing too hard. I'll still buy the game once (if) all the DLC and patches are out and there's some way I can be sure modding the thing won't leave me open to being hacked. But the sheer irony of a cyberpunk game having all this drama around a corp is just hilarious.

Sheesh. How the hell did all this even happen? :classic_laugh:

Well, maybe they'll finish it strong and get bought by EA or something ?

I'd pay close attention to Sony in the coming days. I wouldn't be surprised if they're already in talks with CDPR.

That would certainly be a worst case scenario. One might as well just play the Syndicate adaptation for the SNES/Super Famicom after they'd thoroughly tamper with the contents of the game.

Source code for games and engine bought outside the auction by someone "anon" (tinfoil hat on: wonder if by CDPR itself. tinfoil hat off).

However, what of the HR, financial data, and other confidential data that was stolen and not sold. What is happening to that data? Where is that data?

Both VX and Kela confirm the data has been stolen, but it still hasn't been leaked anywhere apparently... and it wasn't part of the auction either.

Be that as it may, CDPR does still owe Sony a game.

According to some of the dolts on the CDPR forum, Keanu Reeves may have swooped in to save the day

and paid for the files. Or maybe that it was a Chinese hit job to steal the game from CDPR.

You really can't make this shit up. I find the twists and turns surrounding this whole mess to be way more interesting than the game was ?

Grab a chair and watch the atomic bomb explode. This is FO76 all over again.

Before I put in my real point of interest here let me apologize if this has already been asked for.  I found the thread and just dove in without looking through.

One of the many issues I have with this game is that I made a Tranny V (seems to be the trend for all gamers right now).  First chance I get I strip the character naked and what do I see... she's walking around in panties with a girly shape.  Through on pants, skirts, whatever... no bulge.

Any chance at walking around with everything hanging out or feminine clothes that have bulges?

I just wanna say I have over 100 hours into this game, even with all its bugs and whatnot I had a massive blast. That's all.

I dunno. I gave it a shot. Even after all those negative reviews I still bought the game, it's not that big money anyway.

The game kinda... well, I don't want to say "sucks", it would be unfair. "A sloppy job" would probably be a proper English term, I guess. Dumbass IA that makes Skyrim NPCs aka "it's just my imagination" with an arrow sticking out of his eye look like a bunch of nuclear physicists. Enemy NPCs know you're here but don't bother actually searching - they just stand in place and curse you (in Russian, what a surprise). OP AF stealth from level 1. Absolutely boring combat with spongy enemies and no problems getting shot yourself either - as long as you have stimpacks or whatever they are named. Absolutely annoying driving, even with mods - I'm a good driver IRL, but this games makes me sick of it. Car/bike sims of 20th century were better. Atrocious animations - I took a look at my character once while running downstairs - and promised to never ever try it again, because apparently IK doesn't exist in "next gen" games, something that Skyrim could do perfectly well. My character was literally flying over the stairs. This is some serious Oblivion-level "next gen" we're talking about here.

And the plot... I don't like it either. Again, it's only my opinion, but I think Bethesda games give you more freedom from the start. You start in Helgen, you've being lead to Riverwood - but after that no one arrives to Riverwood to pick you up right now. In FO4 you leave the Vault - and then you're only given directions, but not pushed into the MQ. You can go anywhere. CP77, OTOH, feels "pushy" all the way. "Hey, V, I'm waiting for you downstairs". What about giving me a direction and a choice?

The 1PV idea was a big fail, IMO. It makes your character completely disappear, you don't see the character acting, talking, etc. It's you saying all those words and do stuff. Makes it real hard to do any RP.

Yes, the characters and writing it good. If it was a movie - it would be a good one. But as a game - it kinda fails at all levels but this one. Please note I don't mention any bugs - haven't encountered a single one so far, I guess waiting for patches was a good idea. I don't complain about performance either - either my system is good enough to play it on Ultra, or they made some good optimizations. But the actual gameplay is a failure no matter where I look. It will take years for the game to mature to the point of being real good, this will take a lot of efforts from developers and modders. But so far it's just mediocre at best.

All I know is I would take William Gibson's word over CDPR what cyberpunk is or isn't. There's nothing that I have seen in CP2077 that makes it dystopian. And it was such a disappointment that there were only three classes available to play. I was looking forward to making a character for each class a few years back when I still had interest in this game. But I guess that's what happens when you have a voiced protagonist and a narrative it has to follow which reduces the freedom to play how you want because you must stick to the story and play the game how we want you to play it. This is exactly like FO4 in that you have to play the game Bethesda intended it to be played. No, shut up! You're a daddy off to find your son so deal with it and stick to the script. Always limitations because they have to put in features most of us don't even care for the sake of following the trends. Maybe they'll introduce more in their expansions if they ever get around to it. But this is why modern "RPGs" suck more and more. This game has stemmed away from the original pen and paper. I can't even bring myself to call this game an RPG. Hell, not even sticking to the art of original p&p game.
