Dwemer spotlight — The Blog Noone Wanted

Tirloque

Hi everyone ! During their travels, the Marsorics came across great amounts of strange things and unknown objects... including dwemer lights ! Malicia grew quite fond of those, so when her sisters provide her with one, she fancies placing it on the bookshelves of the small library, giving more light to some spots.

And today's spotlight has been put in a place "which was very dusty, yes", but who still had the scent and feel of the foreign lands of Morrowind :

THE BLOG NOONE WANTED

I - SYNOPSIS

Solstheim. In the distance, the massive, ever consuming shape of the Red Mountain overlooks the land. Wrapped in fur, a feminine silhouette fights against the ash wind. The woman pauses, hesitating : even to a dunmer, the land felt inhospitable, hostile ; to the point even the dead vegetation, covered in grey, could be seen as a warning.

Selune discarded the thought with a frown. Her ancestors had lived in those lands since millenniums, some dust was far from enough to deter her from her quest : to get rid of the strange condition affecting her. An impairment she had spent decades fighting in vain. But if there was someone who could help her, it would certainly be him.

Readjusting her coat, she resumed her journey with a steady walk. Tel Mythrin's giant, organic frames were right ahead.

A - Summary

The Blog Noone Wanted (H)

Blog type : illustrated text — Writing genres : fantasy ; erotism.

By : Jexsam.

Status : mostly available - On hold.

A blog no one wanted, featuring characters no one invited, and for which I'm writing a description no one asked for... I think we might have a best seller concept here. ? Jokes aside, in spite of a rather uncommercial presentation, and a rather messy sorting, the blog features carefully tailored narrations, supporting quite immersive stories (mostly revolving about the prices and drawbacks of the way of magic). Also, for once it's mainly highlighting strongly tempered dunmers. So, what's not to like about it ?

Recommended start : The Apocryphal Beast.

B - Critic

Qualities                                                           |                                                           Drawbacks

+ Immersive setting, with an exotic environment and credible characters

+ Very well written, demonstrating a fluid yet efficient style, which may rank among the best on LL

+ Very good graphic quality, with often flawless poses, expressions, angles and compositions.

The attention paid to lighting is more variable however.

+ Well staged, with a refined sense of erotism and sensuality, and a talent to exploit even

    their psychological aspects.

+ Several sets of settings, increasing stories' variety.

- Very loosely continuous storylines : you'll be able to reconstruct the outcomes, but the story is more here to provide a setting for the erotic scenes rather than a chronologic scenario.

- While the erotic settings are varied, and while we've got a bit of relational & mystery, very few entries do delve into others writing genres (action, horror, investigation, comedy, drama etc.).

- No blog map ; and while this is usually a minor inconvenience, considering the amount of miscellaneous entries, finding out the stories among those can (could ?) require a bit of digging. The presentation (small font/images) could also benefit from minor adjustments, to better highlight their quality.

Malicia : « Professor Neloth : he looks very serious frowning and touching his beard, but in fact he only wants to peek at Selune's boobies, uh. :classic_sleep:

               I'm lucky he doesn't likes bretons, no. :classic_ph34r: »

III - SHOWCASE

The Tutelage of Neloth - Introduction

M46YjtTu_o.jpg

There it was - Tel Mithryn. Selune had come to this gods-forsaken island, choked on ash and suffered bitter cold all for this moment. She knew it could all still be for nothing - Neloth had many servants but took few apprentices. But she had to try.

oSWV4Cex_o.jpg

Selune entered the mushroom tower and rode the levitation vortex to the upper floor. To her surprise, Neloth was already nearby. "I don't remember inviting you in. Who are you and what are you doing in my tower?"

"I seek to become your apprentice, Master," Selune responded with a bow.

72lvfFGf_o.jpg

"Hm... and what makes you think I'd even take you?" Neloth asked.

0E68KPWQ_o.jpg

"For many long decades I have sought... means. I have learned much in my years at the Arcan-"

sFkRFY74_o.jpg

Neloth groaned. "I didn't ask for your life's story, I asked why you thought I should take you on. If you can't answer a simple question without launching into a monologue, you can go ahead and leave."

U3BqErhz_o.jpg

For a brief moment, Selune was rendered speechless. This journey suddenly seemed it would come to an end right as she was about to achieve her goal.

rQpPr87J_o.jpg

She thought quickly, took a deep breath, and spoke, "I seek to overcome weakness. You can help me do that, Master, and I will do whatever it takes to secure that."

rU7VFl5d_o.jpg

Neloth regarded her silently for an uncomfortably long time. He looked her up and down, as if sizing her up. Selune began to feel a little self-conscious as his eyes met hers. Had she been too aggressive with her words? Did he think her some power-hungry wizard?

7JarZkSj_o.jpg

Neloth slapped a fist into an open palm. "I'll do it," he said.

"Oh, thank you, Master," Selune said with a bow, barely containing her excitement.

uu3ifLqf_o.jpg

"Under very specific conditions," Neloth added. "I already have one apprentice, you see, and he's quite a handful as it is. You seem capable and driven... perhaps too driven. You'll need to be kept in line. To that end... if you agree to do whatever I ask, without question, I will accept you as my apprentice."

WhFpots6_o.jpg

"Oh, of course, Master!" Selune said. A smile crept across her lips. She'd done it. With the knowledge and resources now at her fingertips

Ku0r15C4_o.jpg

"Now take your clothes off, I want to see what I'm working with."

0G5Yr4ZC_o.jpg

"Wh-what?" Selune asked. The suddenness of his request caused her brain to simply stop all at once, but soon enough she processed it.

E5BXVJ3W_o.jpg

"If you can't even carry out a simple command, I may have to nullify this arrangement..." Neloth said, staring at her angrily.

wQEUzuMt_o.jpg

Selune, face hot and heart beating in mild panic, considered her situation. How much further would he go with these requests? she thought, pondering just how expansive the term "whatever" really was given her new perspective. Still, there was so much to gain... and what could he really do? Make her walk around naked, engage in some fuck-play... nothing she couldn't tolerate in the face of what she stood to gain.

Kruhve2G_o.jpg

Even with her resolve, it was still an embarrassing situation. "As you wish, Master..." she said.

A54UBvj7_o.jpg

She shed her clothing piece by piece, and as the last article hit the porous floor, she faced Neloth and bounced a little on her toes just to give him a show. "Do you approve, Master?" If this was the role she was going to fill, she may as well do a good job at it.

b4yR7YG8_o.jpg

"Hmm... yes... yes, I think this will work out well for the both of us," he said, smiling slightly behind his fist.

Q3yoYcCw_o.jpg

"Come along, then, let me give you the tour," he said, gesturing her follow.

"May I get dressed, Master?"

"Of course not. What kind of a lesson on your place would it be if I did that? Now, follow me, let me introduce you to my various employees..."

Selune sighed.

Librarian's notes :

As this isn't a restoration but a showcase, I took the liberty to adjust the original editorial choices to better highlight it :

  • Formatting changes compared to the original : widescreen images, 18 font size text, smoothed out vertical spacing.
  • Two typos were corrected (father -> further, do a good job it -> a good job at it).

Thanks to Jexsam fo his diligent support.

And you're among the friendliest part of said community, Crw. :classic_wink: That being said the work is Jexsam's, what I did was only to highlight it in a structured fashion. ?

What a great way to build community!  ? Thanks Malicia!  I'll check them out!

Malicia : « You're very welcome Mr Djregs. Just ask Adrea to be careful, 'cause professor Neloth is a bit meany, and I didn't put lights everywhere, no. :classic_excl: »

For what things ? If you're being inspired by the feature screen, this one is 100% Jexsam's. :classic_wink:

I don't think I have the skills of a professional, though I do like tinkering with images and writing stories. That being said, I do believe some of us storytellers, myself included, might be getting close to that level. And one of my dreams would be to have this part of our community recognized as regular authors, someday...

Well done Tirloque! And you created a blog map yourself :open_mouth:, I really do like the design of it.

Well you're the one whose I took the clickable menu concept from in the past, so it's no surprise you like it. ^^

This one is an hybrid between your vertical column layout, and my buttons design/lettering. It looks quite good indeed, I might rework my blog's one according to that indeed. Though I think the vertical column layout might be the most efficient design, each review might be an occasion to experiment variants, with different fonts, proportions, transparency and maybe structure depending on the blog at hand. smiley-sorcer-HFR.gif

That's clearly the part that was the most tedious to do, talk about doing maths. XD Yet the designing part was quite fun.

Plus as you once said me that you were not sure of what a place in the library/review could bring/add to a blog, I wanted something that could make up for the critic in case the author would find it too harsh. Doing a nice, graphical, clickable menu is something I see like a great asset for a story blog. And so even if reading the review/showcase and having some spotlight wasn't pleasant enough, acquiring a clickable graphical blogmap clearly is IMO.

The larger the blog, the more difficult creating a blogmap would be though. Smiley_henri_gaud-belin_HFR.gif

And maxresdefault.jpg ? :classic_tongue:

Jokes aside, the blog-map is one of the reasons I chose Jexsam's works for the first review (the previous one being more of a restoration, though there was a review part too) :

  • His work is great, both visually and in terms of writing style, but is IMO presented in a suboptimal way that may cause it to earn less readers than it should. Hence benefit from showcasing.
  • Greatly lacked in organization, the stories being buried under a plethora of miscellaneous entries. Hence maximum benefit from a clickable blog-map menu.
  • And lastly did not get any spotlight, the blog not publishing regularly anymore (as being close to be concluded. Hence benefit from spotlight.

So for all these reasons, I thought his blog might greatly benefit from a review. And those do offer me the possibility to do part the dusting myself. :D

With Malicia's assistance of course. ^^

I love everything about all of this.

Thank you so much for the work you put in on this.  It's so awesome knowing the stuff I wrote for my (haphazardly constructed) blog are still remembered and still having an impact.  It's something I'd always done as just a hobby, a way to be creative and crank out some content to crank one out to, to put it crudely.  I never had the vision or ambition of so many other storytellers here and never really set out to make a mark - the self-deprecating name is proof enough of that.  That just makes it all the more incredible to me that it has done just that.

To any newcomers who might wander in after reading this - welcome!  I hope you find something in the chaos that you like!

Well, as the self depreciating name indicate, you may not perceive accurately the value of your own work. Yet, even if you use 150x150 centered crops of the original images, even if you write it using small fonts, to me your writing skills and your ability to create artistically interesting screens are obvious. Though the idea to use this blog to do a bit of dusting and shed a bit more light over it. Smiley_jap_HFR.gif

It'll be a bit less chaotic now that they've got a clickable graphical menu. Smileyf-mylittlekony-HFR.jpg

That being said, even discovering your blog through the scope of that menu, you're still got a couple of story entries that are affected by the postimage issue. So if you feel motivation coming up one day, don't hesitate doing a bit of dusting. :classic_tongue:

Anyway, thanks for your help with that review. I'm glad you like it, and hope it'll get some readers to keep discovering your universe. :classic_wink:
